  1. Great question .. I was thinking of walkin a trib today ( but on second thought better not until the flood passes ... option 2 ... I could go stand out on the melting ice in the wind and the rain .... BUT .... we already have a Whitey AND a Laker .... or ... there are $400 of Le B. gift certificates ... calling out to be spent ... hmmm what to buy ... what to buy ??? Maybe one of those fancy PFD's ... or a fancy new reel ... hey wait .. I also have a couple from Bass Pro ...so i can actually shop around ... aint it fun having christmases and birthdays to celebrate all over and over again (who said gift certificates weren't a good idea) ... heh I might even just window shop and get to enjoy the fun twice
  2. That laker had some pretty marking to her ! Bet she was tasty !
  3. What a fatty !!! Nice fish too !
  4. I have the iphone 3 (not 4 yet) and the Torch ... I Really like my iphone ... but I use my BB for email ... just can't powertype on a touch screen ... (I have fat fingers I guess) .... I also LOVE the 5 mega pixel camera/video on the Torch (dont need ot carry a separate camera any more)... and the apps for the BB are getting better ... still not quite as cool as my iphone (imho)... but hey I do have shazaam and google search (with voice to text) and they work well on both devices ...
  5. I'd be more worried about ski-doos flying around in the dark .... Lakers will bite at night .. but not nearly as active as daytime ... if you are over on the east side you may find Walleye which are of course nocturnal feeders... and pike will bite 24hrs a day Me I say ice fishing is best from 9:00 - 5:00 ... instead of being behind a desk
  6. Could still be the battery ... if you charged it ... (even if you didnt it kinda charges itself a wee bit ... I'd suggest investing the $30 bucks on a spare (and bringing it along for the trip ... especially if as you say it worked fine for 5 hrs before going wonky ... just saying ... I always bring two so that one can stay on the charger they day I am out with the other ...
  7. I double that vote on the whisker ... I have a couple and LOVE them .. one is over 15 years old and going strong (100's of big trout later) !
  8. Geesh .. see what happens when ya sleep in Lew .. you get all cranky ... Maybe its time we dragged ya out on the hardwater for some of these ....
  9. Heh ... I know it says "Musky", but when you flex does it say "Muskellunge from Temagami where the big girls play"? Ohh ... no thats another joke .. never mind
  10. wow .. ya just never know what Lake O gods will serve up !!!
  11. Yep .. always thought it attracted em ... caught lots of fish just as people not too far away were drillin new holes.
  12. Try a little shallower .. 40 - 60 FOW ... for quality vs quantity.... and dont be afraid to go smaller with the shiners... and a little aggressive jiggin never hurts either
  13. Ahhhh ... I missed this post Wayne ... now I understand .. jeesh I guess I GOTTA get me a darn sled ! (Can I just buy one and leave it at your place ? Anyhow have a great weekend. If you're free tomorrow I'll be at Lake Joe right near Glen Orchard with a few 'can go' fellas.
  14. Well you gotta respect the guy for doing what he believed was right ... I can honestly say (and I was a competetive high-school wrestler) I have only done it once ... it was about 30 years ago .. and I would never do it again ... I met "Wanda", who was on the US womens (mud) wrestling team in a 'classy' bar in Fort Lauderdale ...I think "Playpen" was in the name somewhere... anyway after a couple of hours of chatting and drinking she said she had to go to "work" ... how would I like to wrestle her and by the way there was a $100 prize to any guy who could 'pin her'... it was the main event for the evening's entertainment ... as a guy who at that time was in pretty good shape, I was put up against two women (each of whom were no more than 105 ponds soaking wet with their bikinis on)... well ... I have never been so badly beaten up in my life ... ever ... and yes there WAS biting and scratching and kicking and (groan) stuff that just aint right... but apparantly from the chearing and screaming 'KILL HIM' , 'KICK HIM IN THE NUTS AGAIN !!!'.... there was flying scissor locks and 'gotchy-pulls' ... anyhow apparantly it was great entertainment for the crowd ... I hung in there and lost as gracefully as I could... and while we all showered together and I thought I had 'earned' my graces with her .. I realized how dumb the whole thing really was when she whispered in my ear ... "you are just lucky we didnt rip your balls off !" ... Moral of the story .... don't fight wimmens ...ever ... even if they invite you nicely and promise you great things ... DON'T DO IT.. nothing good will ever come from it
  15. Well ... hows it looking up there ? I am heading up around noon tomorrow (will probably not get out until Saturday AM) but will try to post update on conditions.
  16. Sponges baths ... ya just had to go there ... jeeze now i got all these totally unnecessary visuals ... and right before breakfast too ! Knee-monia
  17. Retire ???? Not sure if that ever truly happens to those of us who write our own paychecks ... slow down a bit or try take more time out for yourself ... heh ... been trying to do that all my life .. but retire ... I dunno ... do you HAVE to ?
  18. Yep .. lots of times the hit come on the OTHER line when getting a little aggressive .... and it is always fun to see them cruise BACK for a second look .. then it actually feels like you are fishing .. not just watching
  19. Wow .. fabulous ... looks like the slush was NOT an issue (this is actually from yesterday I presume ?) I'll be there day after tomorrow ... can't wait ! Thanks for sharing !
  20. First time I went to Cancun (about 30 years ago)... it actually WAS a fishing trip .. we drove up the coast about an hour went out for the day in a 'punta' and caught lots of 5' barracuda with a local who took us out for the day for about $50 I agree though beaches aint my thing ... unless there is coral .. then I love to snorkel ...its almost like fishin except you can see them but cant really catch them (now that spear fishin is all frowned upon and all)
