  1. ohhh welll ... I guess my three hour log idea is just gonna be a problem then ... unless of course I do it in the lid of a steel garbage can .. hey wait a minute ... that could just work
  2. Yep ... and I have to tele-commute ... all the way to the dining room ... jeeze even 3 feet won't work for me Seriously fellas .. be safe .. and remember it's always better to be tried by twelve than to be carried by six.
  3. I hate to be a party pooper .. but 20 Million * $1 Million = $20 TRILLION ... that is almost 10 times the US National Debt ... I think that might actually make matters worse Having said that, I find it hard to believe that there are really 20 Million over 50 in the work force .... (in Canada)... I am not sure there are even 20 Million people over 50 in all of Canada Ahhh .. never mind ... I obviously havent been fishing for a while
  4. Cant honestly say I have seen them in the belly of any fish I have eaten .. BUT ... I have caught many lakers which couched up three or four of(my) rainbow shiners ... and been snorkelling and found lots of half rotted plastics on completely rotted jigs .... so obviously the hooks dissolve faster than the plastics ... makes you think.
  5. Thanks BB .. I saw a couple posts about Herring but this was the first about mackerel ... I am really targeting Lakers more than Pike ... I KNOW pike will eat anything (practically) ... but am glad to hear folks have had luck on lakers too ... I felt the 12" Herring were little TOO big for the lakers I chase .. and the one thing I have learnt over my 45+ years on the water .. is that you have to have confidence in your bait or you wont catch fish (its probably a Karma thing) Anyhow .. I will leave those baby's on bottom with full confidence now .. and report back in a couple weeks.
  6. I think I paid 3 bucks for about a dozen ... seemed cheap to me .. but they were whole and looked goood enough to eat so i bought em for my boyz weekend ... figured we could each lay a biggun down on the bottom while messing with rainbow shiners on the other line
  7. OK .. call me crazy .. but when I went into the local grocery store the frozen whole Herring where about a foot long .. and I was just not happy with them .. but the 6 inch whole frozen (portugese) mackerel looked awesome .. just wondering if anyone has tried em for lakers (or pike) ... I know they will be good and greasy
  8. Ron Ellis ... wow .. he stopped to play ball hockey with us once when we were kids ... lived in our building for a (short) stretch.
  9. Fish ? Ohhhhhhhh .. I thought we just talked about it
  10. and you cant fool it by leaving spaces in between the letters
  11. heh .. gues you can't say "a m crapola k a" on OFC
  12. Nope .. but I do remember Jack sporting goods ... and the Amstuffka demonstrations in front of Billy Davis' house at gage park across the road from my school
  13. Wow .. me too ... around 1973 to be exact .. I thought it was actually an old gravel pit filled with rain water .. we used to have alot of fun with the bass... back when Brampton was really just the 4 corners
  14. Fabulous ...makes me want to go chasing specks in the back country
  15. Great reel ... the anti-reverse dog was the only achilles heel ... I have a few myself including the old 401 model.
  16. Was listing to chay (Barrie) yesterday and heard them say .. its -27 but it feels like -34 ... I was in a little fleece and quite comfortable .... I say bring it on ... it IS winter after all And opening day on Lake Joe is only a few weeks away
  17. My experience has often been rooted in two causes : Dehydration - in addition to 'the remedy' of choice drink two glasses of lukewarm water ... seems to speed recovery and ... dont laugh ... nasal irrigation ... thats right ...snort up warm water and then blow your nose ... Very often when I have suffered a really bad migraine the root of the problem showed up during this exercise... I am guessing a little pressure on the wrong spot in your sinus causes the pain. (non medicinal but it is worth a try ... I now irrigate as a daily habit like brushing teeth before bed and when you wake up ... it reallllly made a difference for me
  18. Just back from a pretty good game tonight .. I am just saying
  19. Love my H2Oc .. BUT ... when i swapped in the fancy new Navionics gold card seems to take forever to load up ... not sure if it is just me ... but then I put my old 2gig card back in with all the stuff I had before (trails waypoints, mapcreate maps etc) and it works fine ...after about an hour
