  1. nice job, I enjoyed the report
  2. Sounds like a great year up there for you Rodcaster, you're lucky to live where you do, I'm jealous I found that very interesting too Capt. Hook, why do suppose the thicker ice and crack occured along the ridge? artesian water along the crack?
  3. cool report and video, regarding the Bravo aspect, with the crusty snow, we were bush riding on Thursday in Haliburton, pretty far in the middle of nowhere, I was surprised to see 4 sleds parked in front of an old camp on Wolf Lake, and smoke coming out of the stack. 3 of the sleds were Bravos, 2 of them LT's. We smiled and waved as we passed each other. The BR trapper is the ultimate bush sled!
  4. yeah, I hear ya, shooting stuff for fun isn't really my style either
  5. Time for Gardiner to come back up too, I thought Reimer looked better in the 3rd, I'd start him again on Tuesday I hate to say it, but I'd like Crosby to get crunched, he burned us tonight and he's killing me in my hockey pool
  6. I can see something missing too, one of your cool tip-ups
  7. great report, 2 species that aren't very common too, looks like a fun day what were you targeting?
  8. cover anything with butter, spices and dressing and it'll be palatable
  9. I've only eaten lakers from Haliburton, pretty tasteless, a little muddy, with a slight rubbery texture, very different from a walleye up there, same lake/ forage base or not
  10. buying a cheap bait caster is trouble, even if you're experienced, it will be a nightmare to cast I'd say the Curado is the reel to buy, about $150, it's a great reel too, I've had one for almost 20 years of abuse, I still prefer it over my more expensive bait casters
  11. even small lakers are pretty poor table fare, I wouldn't want to try that giant I guess with enough seasoning, even a dog turd could be eaten by some
  12. I love the old Vmax's, the new ones look great too, very cool bike, it should pull like a freight train
  13. I love Wakami. I'm guessing you booked one of those great waterfront sites. A magical place, that's what a PP should be. I wouldn't bother with targeting pike there. Look for whities during the day, and walleye in the low light times.
  14. Ramsey Lk- http://www.rayscamps.com/ would be my top pick or Bisco- http://www.greyowlcamps.com/ or http://www.ritchiesendoftrail.com/ but for the price and drive, I would fly in for $800 per person- http://www.outpostcamps.com/
  15. I spent 8 hours beside that stove on Saturday When a spark pops out, and flies into your eye, then that's a bummer
  16. lookin' good, I can't wait to get mine, thanks Jacques
  17. I met a guy on the ice this weekend. He was nice enough to show me a spot, on my home lake in Haliburton (Gull), where the ling should stack up during spawning. He said it's good near the end of the ice fishing season, during sunny, warm days, when you're almost pressing your luck being out on the late season ice. Scott and Crossman says ling spawn mid winter. Does anyone have any experience or info?
  18. very cool report, you winter camping guys are hardcore, I bet alot of your time/ energy is spent on chores and survival stuff how did your hands feel after fileting those lakers outside in the cold?
  19. that's what I thought, but I also heard awhile back, that the COs were going to get the authority to check and ticket for insurance etc
  20. I'm definately not as knowledgeable as Targa and Tyzak with respect to Ivanhoe, but I've been there a few times, and in my opinion, for the driving distance there's better alternatives, Ivanhoe's pretty busy, quite a bit of fishing pressure too,
  21. Who can issue tickets for insurance and liscencing of sleds/ ATVs, COs or the police, both?
  22. looks like a good time, the pike are spreading all over, wow
  23. cool, I'm gonna leave one of those pictures up, so when my wife gets home, and wakes up the computer, "what the......"
  24. nice, healthy lookin' pike, just checked- the line class record for 2 pound test for pike is almost 24lbs, crazy
  25. yeah, likely a ski, lots are caught through the ice on the bog
