this is from Wednesday http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/modis.php?region=o&page=1&template=sub&image=t1.13107.1534.LakeOntario.143.250m.jpg with the warm weather Thursday and Friday, I think that little ice chunk in the north end will be long gone

tough task at hand for the Leafs, it's hard to beat both the refs, and the New York Dive-landers

Haliburton ice out lakers and some other pics
chris.brock replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
yeah, I did abit of reading on them, the strain is stocked in Halls, Esson etc., and native to Redstone, and McDonald and Clear in the Hal. Forest they stocked Gull for a little while (not sure what strain) but don't anymore, maybe there was some Haliburton gold genes introduced to the population -
I think the chippier the game, the more advantage for the Leafs, the Caps don't have the horses if it turns into a war, and when the game gets tough, the softies disappear at least Ovi doesn't look that motivated offensively

Haliburton ice out lakers and some other pics
chris.brock replied to chris.brock's topic in General Discussion
Which opener? Haliburton brookies/ lakers are open. I'm assuming you're going into AP for the opener? I'm pretty sure the ice won't be out. I'll be up there again this weekend and update you though. -
I said if he's cheap Brodeur is older than dirt, but I'd rather have him back-stopping the Leaf's upcoming playoff run than Reim or Scrivens

Need some advice (boat performance related)
chris.brock replied to Tayzak15's topic in General Discussion
not necessarily, I've got a 16, deep V, rated for a 40 hp max, it's got a 30hp triple 2 stroke and runs like a scared rabbit, it jumps straight up out of the hole -
we're looking better in the 2nd, NJ just can't put pucks in the net, if we score 1st I think we've got a great chance at 2pts I always liked Steve Sullivan, if he's cheap, I'd like to see him back in TO

It's still pretty wintery in cottage country, some pretty good snow squalls, lots of ice on the lakes and snow in the bush, the maple sap was still running well this weekend There was a little open water where Lutterworth Creek dumps into Deep Bay. I went for a little paddle, with the fishing rod, it felt great to be back on the soft water even though most of the lake is still ice covered. Looking the other way. I didn't really care about catching anything, but managed to jig up 2 lakers, 1 in the slot, 1 under, both released Stopped by the Talbot on the way home, didn't see anything except 2 giants washed up on the shore

Was there ever a point where you switched species ?
chris.brock replied to muskymatt's topic in General Discussion
I went through a full-out muskie phase that I've since abandoned, I still enjoy targeting them once in awhile, there's nothing like casting/ trolling big baits in G Bay waters in the fall, magical! now, my favorite species to try to figure out is walleye -
I think the goal should be to buy an outboard that will keep you running, and on the water, not how close the dealership to service you quick and get you back on the water. It was a long time ago, and things have likely changed, but I worked at a marina in the late 80's and the mercs were always in for repairs, the OMC stuff was always out on the lake While window shopping at the cottage show today, a princecraft dealer said merc has bought alot of the boat manufacturers, that's why alot of boats come with mercs, princecraft included, I don't know if this is true, I hope not since my 1981 enticer, I buy yamaha when I can (right now, 2 outboards, 2 older sleds and a scooter, all yami)

pretty dry game, I just hope they get the 2 points even though they don't deserve it (1-0 leafs after 2) edit yep, 2 points, very cool, they were shelled in the 1st and 2nd though 10 games left, we're in good shape

Walleye on the French River-north channel?
chris.brock replied to Pigeontroller's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty familiar with that section of the French. The walleye fishing is pretty tough. With the late spring, I'd try under the bridge in Green Bay and around Cedar Rapids. Where's his cottage (ie Ash Bay, Green Bay)? -
I'm a Leaf fan, but I don't think Rosehill was doing anything wrong, just trying to make a hit, it was a pin-ball effect I'd still like to see McLaren break Jay's face
-
I miss Mike Brown in a game like this (PHI, end of the 1st), it's hard to quantify, but I think the Leafs fighting/ hitting has contributed to their success it's probably coincidence, but the Oilers are on fire

hey, looks good, nice bottles too

it looks like there's a guy behind the street sign continuing to fish -
last year at this time, the ice had been out for almost a week on Gull, this year, we will be ice fishing on the easter weekend, pretty crazy

I'm not an expert, but on a downrigger I used heavy mono (30 or 40lb), it really helped with the water fleas

Chapleau Lodge on Borden Lake near Chapleau, would give the family a feeling of being way up north, plus they've got a heated (wood), outdoor pool for the kids, about 8 hours drive daytrips- Chapleau (obviously) - Chapleau dump (aka bear city) for wildlife viewing - Chapleau game preserve http://www.chapleaulodge.com/

Pussy cat Kaleta's head likely isn't feeling all that great after Orr smashed him 3 times (check in out later on hockeyfights.com if you missed the footage right before the intermision)
