  1. 1st was 3.6lbs, $500 prize 2nd was 3.5lbs, $300 I choose the auger over a $200 cash prize I talked to the CO a few years ago and he said the odd 10 lber is caught out of N. Pigeon
  2. Haliburton looks pretty similar, not Miskwabi though, N. Pigeon on Deep Bay Rd yeah, spring's around the corner, maple trees will be flowing soon it's a small lake and easy to walk out, lots of people fishing just off the public launch today
  3. I used a new Merc 4 hp four stroke a couple years ago and didn't think it was anywhere close in performance to a 6 hp, twin cyl., 2 stroke, I'm not sure you'll be happy with the performance of a 5 hp and pretty sure the top speed won't be close to your 9.9 super fuel economy for sure though on a 5 hp 4 stroke
  4. nice fish, good eating for sure, I'd take that over a perch anyday
  5. North Pigeon Lake. Every year the Minden volunteer Fire Dept., has a derby to raise money. It's alot of fun. I really enjoy the small town events around Minden like the demolition derby, the ice car racing and the ATV Mud Bog competition to name a few. Really friendly people. Getting stuff organized the night before. I was riding over before the sun came up to secure our spot on the lake, there's another group that also likes this spot. Lots of soft snow and slush on the lake for the 140 that came out. We only had 2 bites all morning. My Dad missed a fish after I caught this 3.2 lber. The prizes and draws etc, in the slush Lots of great prizes donated by local companies I took third place and a new Rapala power auger. You'll likely see it soon in the classified section because we already have a solid auger. Another fun day up in cottage country. Me, my Dad and his friend Ed.
  6. Bring on the Sens! Maybe MM wants to make a friendly bet with us Laff fans?
  7. Leafs- team with most fights/ hits in the league
  8. come on, we want a report, fish or no fish, it's all good info
  9. JVR looks good, I don't care if Kessel's goal stats aren't great, if he makes plays, and the teams winning, I'm happy just noticed tonight, I thought # 21 was retired (Salming), JVR's #
  10. yeah, it looks great (understatement!) for multi-species (brookies, pike and walleye), and for the price, definately hard to beat
  11. nice report, big lakers, 5 lines is crazy, 3 or 4 guys could really cover some water
  12. that doesn't sound fun, hang in there
  13. very cool, I like the long travel from tip-up to tip down
  14. yeah, the sweaty clothes from getting into the lake, really kill ya when you're standing around, watching tip-ups in - 12 temps and wind
  15. we didn't have much slush, just a little, although I did hear from a guy in the same area that did have trouble with deep slush
  16. nice lookin' laker, I wish we had that big average size in Haliburton, like you guys get on Simcoe
  17. looks like a great 2012, the PB perch is a beast, nice bullheads too, haven't seen one in a while
  18. No trail pass required on Family Day weekend. We hit the trails for 3 hours on Saturday, me, my wife, Jeff and Crissy. The Bravo left something to be desired on the faster, rail line trail. My wife rode the Phazer, I was stylin' on the trapper Sunday, me and my Dad went looking for brookies. We had to do alot of monkeying around to get to the lake. I had never fished this lake before, through the ice, or in a canoe. fire in a dead tree My Dad did catch 1 brookie (no picture), but the effort needed to get to the lake wasn't justified. We should have brought snow shoes, but didn't. After getting the snowmobile as close as possible, the almost 1 km of crawling through waist deep snow and soft bogs nearly killed us, the cold wind didn't help either. I always say, even after only a 1 fish day, I always have to try/ explore new lakes, always looking for that diamond in the rough, still a great day . We did some snow shoeing on Sunday. The Queen Eliz. Wildlands PP is a great area for snow shoeing, lots of animal tracks in the fresh snow Another fun weekend in Haliburton. February is one of my favorite months. Longer days, lots of sun, and good snow and ice.
  19. I'm heading up to Minden tomorrow, the last few weekends, the bait stores have been out of large shiners. Does anybody know if Trombly's or Minden Live Bait have got a shipment in? thanks
  20. cool report, I enjoyed it
  21. nice rainbows and brookie, that's a great program at Sir Sandford Flemming
  22. I agree, he's a legend, I grew up listening to him I hate to say it, but I think he should call it quits, I now find him painful to listen to, incoherent ramblings my favorite is Joe Bowen JMHO
  23. I had an interesting, relevant, chat on the ice this past weekend, with some cottage friends. It was Sunday, them- "where were you yesterday?" me- "we'll just call it lake "X"" them- "come on, we know all the lakes up there" me- "that's cool, we did good, good day" them- "well, there's Glennies, Silver Buck, Silver Doe........." rambled off a bunch of lakes, including the one I was on I enjoy the trial and error, and the bushwacking, but "loose lips, sink ships"
  24. yeah, a couple drinks, a nice sunny day, catching fish gets a little less important
  25. Guy's weekend at the cotttage turned into 2 guys and a kid's weekend at the cottage. The city slickers didn't want to drive in the snow. We drove up on Friday morning. A little slow, but not too bad. Most people stayed home and off the highways. On Saturday, we decided to hit the lake I had done the previous weekend, looking for splake. To avoid bushwacking, we skirted an area with moving water. My track broke through a little. Matt's sled, with alot more power than the Bravo, just hit the gas. This pic was taken on the trip out. Some snowshoeing required The Bravo loaded up, lots of powder snow A nice, sunny day, very little wind, pretty with the fresh snow splake Ryan's first fish through the ice Matt with a splake Ryan taking a break from fishing watching the tip-ups we landed 8 fish, kept 1 that was hooked bad, the weather was deceptively cold, our holes kept freezing, we were a little lazy and didn't trudge through the deep snow to check our tip-ups, often when we checked, the hole was frozen and the minnow was gone, I think we likely missed 5 bites We all had a great day, the Leafs beating the Habs 6-0 later, was just a perfect topper
