An interesting side note, when I was in the Yukon, I read the fishing regs., they didn't allow the use of stringers, citing stringers as inhumane

If I don't get the 'old look' board back soon...
chris.brock replied to Dave Bailey's topic in General Discussion
I thought the new board might grow on me, but I'm still not diggin' it at all -
As far as being outlawed, I'm pretty sure they just aren't allowed to produce and sell them anymore, but anything used and still around is the same as any 4 wheel ATV, I'd say if it's decent shape and runs/ sounds fine, $1200 to $1500 is market price I found this surfing around In the U.S. "Manufacturing of the three-wheeler was banned in 1988, and when the decrees expired in 1998, manufacturers agreed to an ATV Action Plan in which they agreed not to market or sell three-wheeled ATV’s

That's a giant! I need a fish like that during the Legion Derby on Gull Lk in a few weeks. The MNR netted a laker over 30lbs on Bob Lk (many years ago), and I saw a picture of a giant (over 30lbs) from Haliburton Lk near Fort Irwin too, caught steel lining

can't wait to read it, from reading your stuff here, no doubt you can write, just another step towards your new career as a full time, fishing celebrity!

I don't know if you'll be able to zoom in enough, but here's another site http://lance-modis.eosdis.nasa.gov/imagery/subsets/?area=na

I think the deeper water will be the trick, I bet the lines are surface clutter because you're only in 5' of water?
-
I'd rather be on a well/ septic system, then you're not tied to the fees for city water and drainage home ownership is the way to go, renting is money down the toilet

no real facts to back this up, other than what I've heard over the years, it's not a Cummins so pass on the Dodge

yeah, they're perfect for stuff like this trip, I've always wanted one, and had to buy this one "sight unseen" when it came up, great for back country stuff they were biting steady, it almost felt like I wanted a lull just to let my hands warm up and to relax and look around for awhile, can't complain though glad you liked the pics, we both like to be away from the crowds

very cool report, I'll bet you guys are flyin' again for 2013?

X2 Steve, what species are you most interested in?
-
it's a little less exotic and there's less species to target, but it would be cheaper and also has world class fishing with all the amenities http://www.kesagami.com/

when I heard that this morning, it seemed almost hard to believe no matter who's right or wrong, I'm glad it's back, I missed it, I love watching it Go Leafs Go

My cottage buddy who usualy comes along on these day-trip adventures, wasn't around this weekend, so this was a solo mission. I had stuff organized the night before, so I left the cottage fairly early, a beautiful winter morning, looking at North Pigeon Lake. A quick stop at Minden Live Bait and Tackle for minnies, a quick chat with Jack and I'm on my way. I've only fished this lake in the open water season, in a canoe. I got the impression not many people are fishing the lake because it's difficult to access. Hopefully, my long track Bravo will be the ticket to get me in to the lake in the winter. To get to the lake, I would have to use canoe portages with the sled. Some creative riding was required. This pic is from the trip out. The sled slid off the portage. Lucky it's very light. I made it to the lake, there was no sign that anyone had been to any of the lakes I crossed. Here, I set up the tip-ups across a neck-down area of the lake. Nobody around Over 10" of ice, but plenty of slushy spots. The bite was steady. I caught 5 on 8 bites in less than 2.5 hours of fishing. The smaller fish in the pic was the smallest I caught. Kept 1 for dinner and 1 for the freezer. At one point, the furthest tip-up from me went down and before I could get there, the base tipped over and the tip-up was pulled down the hole. I grabbed the other tip-up on the way by, and sent the minnow down the hole. The fish was still there. I hooked it, landed it and recovered the lost tip-up.

if you don't feel like fussing around on the phone, it's $75 to file a small claims lawsuit, you can sue anyone or any entity, and you can recoup the original $75 spent too PM me if you want some info., I've done stuff this before, it's easier and less stressful than phone calls and fighting

A cottage buddy has a 2010 Sportsman 500 and doesn't remove that stuff for winter riding, no problems yet I put my photos on photobucket and it automaticaly sizes them for OFC

Done it for 16 years, it's not that bad get used to sleeping with ear plugs in and good window shades (as previously mentioned), it totally helps, and keep track of how much sleep you're getting, naps can really help there's some perks too, -having a beer at 6 am after getting off work, chatting with the neighbors on the front porch, your work day is done, their's is just beginning -it can be pretty quiet and productive being off in the middle of the day
-
the money spent on gear, licences, gas etc., can't be expected to be recouped from keeping fish from a week at the West Arm or Callender Bay. It can be argued that if nothing is done, limits won't matter because you'll catch none when there's none left.

I made an early New Year's Resolution not to get involved in stuff like this, but again, I can't help it, yeah Roy, I can see why this would get locked down Gerrit, Bladerunner gave his polite opinion, an opinion I happen to agree with. You've complained before about trolling and "winternet", I think you're as guilty as anyone. Bladerunner and I might not be in the boys club, but I think his post was just his opinion, no "name calling" and without prejudice. If you're fishing to fill the freezer, you won't get any respect from me. I'd rather catch plenty of fish, all sizes. Meat hunting is unsustainable in Southern and Central Ontario. That's just my opinion.

I don't know what side of Minden you are on, but, on Deep Bay Rd, south of Minden, just south of Bob Lk Rd, there's a guy on the west side selling and I've heard people like him. It's a good idea to not to accept his first offer on a price. Tons of guys selling up there, just not many websites to find them.

you may already have this one, but if not, you click on a specific lake and it will give you the species present and previous stocking numbers http://www.web2.mnr.gov.on.ca/fish_online/fishing/fishingExplorer_en.html let me know if you're trying Haliburton, I might have a tip

just got back today (Sunday) smaller lakes and ponds were frozen, less than 2 inches of ice, I wouldn't try to venture out though big and medium sized lakes are wide open, no ice, weather looks mild until next weekend too I was south of Minden around Gull Lk
