I have the frabill version of the stowmaster and it's been great. Picked it up from Lebarons - they had to special order the size, but price from what i remember the price was quite good.

I saw shop.ca advertising a deal on them. No idea which ones or if the price was any good (i don't know what they normally cost), but it might be worth checking out.

People complain about the mail, but i'm constantly amazed by how fast some stuff comes through the system...especially now when it should be choking on volume.

Great thread. Wish I had read this when i started fishing. A couple of more that you might add - pay attention to water temps. If it's really warm, the fish is going to be far more delicate and you'll want to really limit out-of-the-water time. - good practice in general is to limit out-of-the-water time to the however long you can hold your own breath.

8 foot Okuma EVX Heavy is a solid all around rod, for $100 or less. Tackle Industries also apparently makes great rods that are relatively low cost, but i have never tried one.

Super pretty fish. Have never caught or seen one in person. Are their teeth bigger? I have seen people refer to their teeth but never knew if there was a difference.
