Nice work and some beautiful fish! Congratulations on another good outing.

Folks, I find myself in the need of some equipment! I already inquired of you regarding ATV's and have pretty much decided on a Polaris X2 500 EFI. Now my next problem is a riding mower. I obviously don't have an endless budget and have naturally prioritized my funds on the ATV, but am still faced with the need to cut the lawn! LOL I started out looking at the Green ones and got terrified of the prices. I then started looking at Cub Cadet and like what I see of their heavy duty shaft drive 2500 series. Now, I see some decent loking John Deere machines at HD for a lot less money, but I'm afraid they might be the low end of that brand? Any recommendations on what to look at? I figure I will have about 2+ acres, but very irregular and not a lot of wide open spaces. I'm hoping to us the ATV for plowing, so this machine will be strictly for grass cutting. Thanks!

Great stuff and thanks for the report!

In my opinion, if you want to rip out the old cabinets and install the new ones yourself, that is fine. Go ahead and buy the units from a store such as HD. If you want someone to install them, that is different. Most contractors require a combination of labour and materials to make a decent gross profit margin on there work. I would say that if you clean out the old ones and make the walls ready, let the cabinet contractor supply and install the new ones. He will be responsible for fit, quality, and everything else that goes with the job. He makes a profit and you get a decent job that you are happy with. Maybe a couple of quotes along this line to be sure the price is fair and you are good to go. You still save by supplying part of the labour for the rip out. Good luck!

Oh man Lew, just the thought of these baits sets my heart all a flutter! 1) Stick worm (Senko like) rigged wacky style 2) White spinnerbait 3) Texas rigged Tube 4) Pop R topwater 5) Purple worm rigged Texas style As for flipping jigs, I have no confidence in these yet. Everyone always says how great they are, but I have yet to give them their fair shake. Maybe this will be the year?

Nice fish and an even better story to go along with her! WTG

Favourite Senko and slugo colors?
Rattletrap2 replied to urbanangler1990's topic in General Discussion
PINK BUBBLEGUM!!!! Amazing! The watermelon greens with flake work well too. Almost any colour works if you rig them wacky style! And yes, YUM Dingers and the BPS "Sticko" brands work every bit as well as the "Senko" ones do. There is one called a "Slurpie" at BPS that works very well to. I find Senko's are way too soft. They rip apart very quickly. Awesome bait though! -
B, I have only ever used them for ice fishing. The left overs are given away to others. On Island lake, I take them back to the folks operating the bait concession. They can re-sell them. If I used live bait in the soft water season, it would be worms or Leeches...if anything at all.

Nice work! Just a word of caution to beginners....make sure the room is well ventilated during the whole process. Lead fumes are toxic!! It is a great way to kill some time and make some really nice jigs as well.

Congratulations Eddy! Enjoy!

DanC, At least you get the long week-end in first! I had my Gall Bladder out ON the May 24 week-end. What the hell was I thinking? LOL

Wow, that is a whole lot of posts for the resident "Bubba"! Way to go!

Very Nice!!! Looks like a great trip! Thanks for the post!

Len, I ( and quite a few others on this board) have had trailers in a "park" for many years. We use them from May till October for week-end get aways. Like Jen says, you need to think about septic, water supply, and all the other stuff. You can be selective about the people that rent from you. The main thing is that they get along and don't cause you any trouble. We rent the site for the season and own our own trailer homes. I have had mine for over 20 years and love it! Of course if you have any kind of water on the property such as a small lake, pond, or river, it would add to the attraction for outdoors people. Good luck and just make sure you are covered for liability and such.

Hope you are having a great day Joe! Happy Birthday!

Bad here in Brampton right now too! I just came in from driving the short distance between Airport Rd. and Bovaird drive to Hwy 10 and Bovaird Drive. It got progressively worse from there to here. I just had 24 guys in from across Canada for a training session this week. They found out there flights were cancelled for tonight (already!) and most managed to get earlier flights booked. The guys driving back to London, Windsor, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Rochester, NY, and Marrietta, Ohio are the ones I worry most about. They all bugged out early to try and outrun it, but I think the majority are heading straight into the mess. Strangely enough, this sort of thing has happened a couple of years ago when these same folks were here. They had to stay over a couple of extra days before they got to head home. I have a Carribean cruise starting on Saturday morning. All I need to do is get in the air and I'm outta here! LOL Seems like a good time to be heading someplace warm!

Unfortunatelly, I never got to fish with either of my Grandfathers. One was gone before I was born and the other was not in the health to do it and died while I was still quite young. I know they were both fishermen and I would have loved to have had the opportunity to fish with them. My Dad did fish, but never had the passion for it that I do. I will always be gratefull that he did take the time to introduce me to fishing and took me quite often. We got to fish together at our trailer on several occasions and it is fondly remembered as a good time. All three of my Daughters fish with me now on occasions and I have introduced their boyfriends to the past time. My oldest Daughter's boyfriend is really becomming very passionate about fishing and is always willing to get out there with me. My wife is a favourite fishing partner also and is quite accomplished. We are getting out more and more often in the last few years since the girls are older now. My dream is to be the kind of Grandpa to my future Grandchildren, that you folks are remembering in this thread. As I get older, I hope I have the patience to share my love of the sport with them. As far as celebrity fishermen, I always wanted to spend time on the water with the likes of Hank Parker or Al Lindner. This would be especially good if they would come up and fish my home waters and unlock a few mysteries for me! Great thread topic!

I have always used the "5 fillet" method and it works well. The video method looks interesting too, and I might give it a try. Pike are excellent eating fishand if cleaned properly, are a real treat. In most of the lakes, Pike are over populated and are decimating other fish stocks. I prefer to keep them in the 3 pound size. More meat, but still not too large or old. Any time we want a fish fry, it is usually Pike we go for. Clampets link shows the method I use.

Lew / Sheri, Very sorry to hear of your misfortune. Sure hope everything heals up quick.

Still some nice work there Beans! All good things have a few "bugs" to be worked out, but the concept is still good. Do you still have the "Pocket Fisherman"?
-
Clampet, I noticed that the whole "fish catching" part of the report is only 8 litle words and a picture, but the "cooking and eatin'" part of the report is almost 300 words! LOL I know where your heart lies! Nice job of detailing the cooking. I never heard of that little tidbit about the knife sharpening, but will give it a try. Thanks

I Have a Blackberry 7100i on the Telus "Mike" network. It is okay for very basic emails, but things like .pdf files (service manuals) are useless. Surfing the web is also very, very slow and I would only use it if I absolutely had to. Most graphics don't appear normally on this litle screen. I have had a Palm PDA Handheld device for many years and this contraption just allowed me to eliminate that one piece of plastic hanging off my belt! I do sync it with MS Outlook and can have all my contacts and addresses handy. It used to tick me off when junk e-mails would come through at all hours of the night and wake me up. I have to have the phone near me for "on-call". I found the feature that allows mew to change my profile to "phone only" after work. The phone will still ring, but all other messsages are silent. Much happier now! The phone and even Blackberry are only digital when on the "Mike" network with Telus, so reception and signal strength issues are still a pain. I am moving to an area that is "just" outside their range......ahhhhhhhh! LOL Oh, but I do have "BASS ASSASSIN" game loaded on it, so it ain't all bad!
