Mine is a 11.5 hp 27" cut Ariens Deluxe. This thing has a headlight, electric heated hand grips, electric start, and the Tecumseh Snow King engine. A lot of machines have the Snow King engine, but this thing is a tank! The thing that sold me was the heavy weight, and all steel construction. No plastic parts on the chute to crack or break. You can also disengage one drive wheel to make manouvering around easier. I would have bought this machine at a dealer, but I happened to walk in to HD back in August and they had this one left for $400.00 less than regular. Expect to pay between $1,800.00 and $2,000.00 for one of these, but they are built to last. I also plow with a 500 cc ATV and 60" blade. The snowblower is just for clean-ups and around the edges. Between the two of them, we run them for anywhere from 3 hours to 8 hours at a time this year to clear the driveway and yard. Does it ever stop snowing? I'm in the snow belt and expected more snow than the city, but this is crazy! It just keeps coming!

It looks like the Pro Series 142. I had one with a 20 HP Merc short shaft. It was a great boat. wish I still had it!

Adding/Stocking new species in a gravel pit
Rattletrap2 replied to Beats's topic in General Discussion
I have a completely landlocked pond and can tell you that all that is required to stock it, is to buy the fish and put them in. Inflow and outflow is a whole nuther matter. You can buy fingerlings and even larger fish from places like Pure Springs out Shannonville way (trout, Bass, Walleye, Crappie and more), Humber Springs near Orangeville for trout, or SilverCreek in Erin for trout and maybe some Bass. They all have web sites. I bought 200 1" LM Bass for $1.50 a piece, but you have to go get them. There is no tax on these fish either. I stocked mine in June, and they are about 3" long now. I don't believe the trout will reproduce in the pond. The Bass and Panfish definitely do. -
Help finding LM's in a gravel pit setting.
Rattletrap2 replied to Beats's topic in General Discussion
Beats, This is an interesting post! I'm kind of surprised at the water colour since you said this was an abandoned gravel pit. Usually, they are as clear as a swimming pool. The bottom must be quite mucky and silted to have this colour water. I have LM Bass in my pond and they have been pretty scarce since the cooler temperatures hit. The rainbow Trout are still active. I can pretty much see botom all the way around the pond (it is 10" at the deepest spot) and the Bass are nowhere to be seen. I saw Perch, Rock Bass, and Sunfish yesterday. I figure they are holding in the remaining weed growth at the deepest spots andcannot be seen from shore. I would keep trying the slow Senko presentation in the deeper areas. How deep do you think the water is? Maybe try bubble Gum pink rigged wacky style? That water is pretty stained. Let us know how it goes! -
Steve, Thanks for sharing what modern science can do! I'm very glad to hear that you licked this round just like in the past! Way to fight! Hope to meet up with you on the ice this year!

Nice Mo! Congratulations! Play safe!

Glad to hear that you are both ok Garry! That must have been quite a scare. So..is the picture of your place here before you left?..or is the white "sands" of Yuma? LOL

Congratulations on the new addition to the family Chris! I agree with DanC, The Border Collie in her will amaze you with how smart she is. Our old Bubba is 9 years old and part Shepherd, part Border Collie, and part Black Lab... and maybe a couple of other parts thrown in for good measure!

Put the muffs on the lower unit and run the garden hose. You need to add the Stabil to your remaining fuel before running the motor for 10 minutes. It will take this long at the lower RPM's to get the stabil through the motor and through all the jets and lines. Towards the end of this 10 to 15 minute run time, start spraying fogging oil into the carb (s). With the RPM's up around 800 to 1000, it will smoke like a bugger and then stall out. You are done! Pull the plugs and spray a bit more in the plug holes as well. Pull the starter rope over very slowly a couple of times to get it into the cylinders. Running the starter or pulling the motor over too much without the plugs attached, can cause ignition system damage in some cases. Now, I would change the lower gear oil. Check the magnetic plug on the lower drain screw for excessive metal particles. Make sure the gaskets are in good shape on both screws. Put some grease on the prop shaft under the prop. I would not wrap the motor in plastic, especially if it is going to be stored outside. Condensation will form on sunny days or when the temperature changes. The motor should be able to breath freely in the surrounding air. If anything, foerm a snow cover over top to keep the winter elements and sun from fading it.

Great report Glen! You certainly made my day so far! Ruth and Don are excellent company to spend some time fishing with I'm sure. Is that Brian from Tennessee in there?

Some very nice fish you got there, and some really good photos as well! Way to go!

Congrats on the PB Brian! Beauty Smallie!

Holdfast, If it was me, I would definitely winterize the water system. Shut off the main tap, open ALL the faucets, and drain everything to the lowest point in the piping. Next, hook up a compressed air supply and pressurize the piping to about 50 to 75 psi. Now quickly open and close all the taps individually to blow out any remaining water. A quick release will be best to entrain any water. If you just open the taps and leave them that way, the air will blow over the trapped water once a path is clear. Once this is done, I would pump in RV antifreeze and open each tap individually until you have antifreeze flowing from each tap. Remember to do teh toilet and pour some antifreze into all the traps. It might seem like ovekill, but this has worked for me for amany years. No problems come spring. If this is a trailer, most of them are not insulated properly for winter use. You could end up with condensation forming on the inside of the walls and then freezing. Also, most of the windows are single pane and this makes them very costly to heat. I would recommend winterizing the water system, and if you do want to use it over the winter, just turn on the heat for the time you are there and find other toilet facilities and a means to wash up. If this is in Sask., I would think the winters are more severe than here anyways? Good luck!

Tragic cell phone call about my father
Rattletrap2 replied to pikehunter's topic in General Discussion
That is a beautiful testament to your late father. You have my deepest condolences. He sounds like an amazing person, and I'm sure all that knew him knew that also. -
Very nice Mr.B! Days like those don't come along often enough.

I can't match DanC, but I've definitely had at least three mornings (including this one!) where I had to scrape the windows on the vehicle to get going. Allso nearly wiped out walking across the back deck the other night... all coverd in frost and ice!

Sept. 16/17 Bassin' Report - BIG Fish of the Season!
Rattletrap2 replied to JustinHoffman's topic in General Discussion
Way to go Justin! That last one is certainly a prize! Not that the rest of them were anything to sneeze at though. As I was reading your report, I was just thinking about asking the water depth in those weeds...and boom, there it is. This is a great report. I doubt that I would ever be fishing that area, so the spot is not important to me. The conditions and the specifics such as technique, water depth, presentation, and bait choice are what makes your reports so enjoyable. Keep it up! I'm not getting out too much these days, so your reports of the Fall season might be as close as I get! -
You are probably in bed by now, but best of luck to you and junior this week-end! Be safe and make us all proud!

Sounds like gerritt is on the right track. The slider is a potentiometer (variable resistance) and it may be shorted out. I love Minn Kota, but those Power Drive systems are very fragile. I would never opt for one again. The cable drive system with Maximizer is the way to go. I've seen more of the little micro switches for right and left steering crap out on the boards, than I have seen Slider Pots fail. Aikmans in Missisauga or Rockey in Orillia will most likely just swap out the entire board. it will cost a few bucks no doubt. Good luck and let us know how you make out.
