  1. That looks great! Is that the "RED/GREEN" Signature Series model? Just a question, how long does it take to get rid of the old oil smell and such from the tank?
  2. Some nice Bass there and close to home to boot!
  3. Solopaddler, I fail to see either the humour or comedy in any of this! That......in a nutshell....is my life! Sucks getting old! Not that I couldn't hit rocks or have flat tires when i was younger, but it didn't all seem to happen in the same trip back then! LOL Hope things take a turn for the better for both of them. I'm sure they deserve this R&R! Yeah, right!
  4. Check inside the fuel tank. Look at the fuel pick-up tube. On the bottom, they sometimes have a screen attached to the bottom of the tube to pre-filter any debris. On mine, the screen adaptor ended up getting slid too far onto the hose and the open end of the poly tube was actually bottomed out against the end of the adaptor. This only allowed a partial restricted flow of fuel to the hose connector on the tank. My 20 H.P Merc would run fine at low speeds, but bog down and cut out if I tried to go WOT. Slide the screen off the hose a bit and secure it with a tyrap. Good luck!
  5. All the Best Roy! Happy Birthday!
  6. Beautiful fish! Nice going! I would think it take a lot of guts to throw a Mepps anywhere near that stuff behind her! LOL
  7. Greg at Covers Unlimited does a fantastic job and like Peps mentioned, it will be done in a day! If he quoted you $650.00, I would think that will be the best you do for a custom made cover.
  8. Nice going Rizzo! Congrats on a beautiful fish.
  9. Gord, I would use pretty much any soft plastic. Lizards are of course most popular. Tubes would be good as well. Have you tried wacky rigging a "Senko" type worm on a circle hook?
  10. Ryan, We bought our first house brand new through the Sales Agent for the builder. That one went okay. We sold that house privately to friends of friends and bought our second house privately off the owner (who was a Realtor herself, just not a good one!). This deal went okay. They were "on the ropes" from speculating in the market at the time and were stressed to the max! We sold that second house through the same Realtor that had our current house listed. This one was a disaster! The Realtor is very successful but had to be one of the worst people I have ever dealt with. She was making money on both ends of the deal and did diddly squat! John F appears to be much more than a true Professional to me. Any advice I have ever seen him offer on this board has been from the heart and rock solid! Be thankful we have people like him teaching the future realtors of the world. I wish you the best of luck on sorting all this out. You have a beautiful home and have done a nice job of renovations. I truly understand the reasons for your decisions. After all the hard work, it must be tough to walk away from this place? Best of luck to your family and let us know the final outcome!
  11. Cliff, There are people in all professions that are in it for the right reason. Sounds like you found one of them in Officer Cliff Tate!
  12. That is fantastic John. She seems like quite the Lady! Thanks for sharing.
  13. Rick, Sounds like things turned out okay....all things considered. We know it could have been so much worse. Some people can be so stupid when it comes to operating a vehicle! Glad you were ok and the young couple will recover (well physically anyway, mentally make take a whole lot longer). When we first moved here, our oldest Daughter was going to work on a sunny April Saturday morning and as she drove down highway 10, a complete idiot did not like the fact that she was doing the speed limit and chose to pass on the gravel shoulder at approx. 90 to 100 kph! He lost control of his mini van and bounced off my daughters rear quarter panel before going broadside in to a roll. He had a male passenger beside him in a seatbelt, but the three girls in the back were not strapped in. As the van rolled over and over, the three girls were ejected. The injuries were very, very serious to the driver and the three girls. Many air ambulances were involved and the highway was shut down all day till about 3 pm.The case is still before the courts almost three years later. Unfortunately, my Daughter still has trouble getting past what she saw that morning. One of the girls landed a few feet in front of her car when the dust settled. NOW, the lawyers are even attempting to sue her! They "shotgun" everyone involved in the hopes of making a hit! It is disgusting! My point of all of this, is that the driver made a stupid choice and it affected a lot of people. Those poor girls will never fully recover from the head injuries. Neither will he ever fully recover. Very sad when there was absolutely no need for this to ever happen. Road and weather conditions can cause accidents, these drivers (your guy on the bridge and the driver of the van in my daughters case) chose to be stupid.
  14. Dirk, If you suspect the breaker is a problem, just bypass it. Wire your red positive wire straight to the battery positive post. Eliminate this as a first step. If you had a volt meter, you could check for power (minimum of 12.6 volts DC) at the plug at the front of the boat. If you have this, you can now focus on the motor.
  15. I'm curious about the lodge as well. My Son-in-Law and his Dad go to Island 10 lodge every year. They always do well. Great report BTW!
  16. After reading all this serious crap about GST, HST, and PST....leave it to the Newf to slide in here and make us laugh! Good one Mr.B!
  17. Man, that is closer than I would ever want to get to a skunk! Better Rick than me!
  18. Joey, I hope Paul gets over this real quick. Heat stroke can sneak up on you...and with this weather, its a pretty common occurrence.I don't miss working on commercial rooftops one bit! Make sure he gets lots of fluids! LOL
  19. Spiel, The circuit breaker at the battery was defective. I suspect it had been on its way out for a while. Sandro said that the motor would operate for about 20 or 30 yards of straight running and then the motor would cut out. A while later, it would start to operate again. The breaker was open circuit completely when we looked at it today. The trolling motor itself is fine. He will probably pick up a new breaker in his travels, but for now, it is wired direct. The breaker would only act if the motor completely jammed up with weeds or bottomed out. Probably 80 percent of trolling motors do not have this breaker in place to start with. Not a big deal. It would not protect the foot pedal or anything electronic since they are rated at 40 to 50 amps in this case.
  20. Peps, You are most welcome and the pleasure was mine. It really is a small world when you get right down to it. This amazes me more and more every day. This board has always been about fishing and oh so much more. We help each other out in so many ways, and this is what makes it so much fun to be a part of it! Alex, Joey and Spiel, you folks are just too kind. Thanks for those words! I was telling Peps (Sandro) just today about my first meeting with Spiel. That seems like so many years ago! Ah well, its all good! Any of you would do the very same thing if the situation presented itself.
  21. Peps, Does the motor plug into a socket at the front of the boat? This would be the first place to test for voltage. You need at least 12.6 volts. The fuse or breaker could be anywhere in the wiring between the battery and the motor. Usually, it is at the battery in the case of a breaker. These are usually "automatic reset". If the breaker is faulty, it could be "opening" the circuit prematurely...and then resetting itself. I'm assuming that all has been well since 2006 until just recently? This would eliminate it being under rated in amps. If the motor is hard wired directly to the boat, we need to look at this arrangement If you could take a couple of pictures and post them of the motor and how it is connected to the boat, we could help you with more ideas. A picture really is worth a 1000 words! Sounds like you have a meter and are determined to figure this out for yourself. Good stuff! PM sent also!
  22. Jackie, I have an older 17 foot Glass Bass Boat with a 24 volt Minn Kota Maxxum 65 lb. thrust. This thing is amazing in dense weeds. It just cuts right through them! I have two Group 31 batteries wired in series for the 24 volts. I use the third battery strictly as a 12 volt starting battery and to run the electronics. This is more than enough power and runs all day.
  23. Can you explain "not even getting power to the motor" a bit? Did you put a volt meter on the leads to the motor? or is it that nothing happens when you step on the pedal? Do you have a fuse or circuit breaker between the battery and motor? If you have 12 volts (actually 12.6 volts or better) to the plug for the motor, then we are back to the motor/ pedal. Since you tried a new pedal, that leaves the motor itself. I would look into the brushes as I suggested at the beginning. The armature in these used to be glued in the outer casing. If the motor was dropped or bumped hard enough, there could be a crack or break in that also. I have not looked at a recent model such as your 2006 one, so not sure if that is still the case. All troubleshooting is a process of elimination. If you don't feel comfortable with this yourself, then either Aikman or Rockey's are both good shops and they will take care of it. Usually, when a foot pedal fails, it is the micro switches for steering that go first. They get intermittent for a while and the motor will only steer one direction for a bit, then just fail. You don't often get a total shut down all at once. There is a potentiometer for speed control on the foot pedal board that would shut everything down as far as motor operation, but you changed the pedal already.
  24. I saw that on television yesterday or the day before. They said the dog was only bruised. I can't figure out why She let the cat off so easy! The dog didn't go anywhere near her fawn.
