2 stroke oil in your vehicles fuel tank (nf)
Rattletrap2 replied to Raf's topic in General Discussion
Raf, I read most.....not all of the 45 pages in that post! Sounds like a good deal to me. -
Terry, That little Canon D10 must be a new one. I wish it had been out there when I bought my Olympus a couple of years back. For underwater, they work great down to 33 feet, which is good for snorkelling. I would much prefer canon over Olympus and the SD memory would have been comparable with my other Canon equip. Olympus uses XD with an adapter to Micro SD.

Lew, Be careful what you wish for!!!! I know you are too old and wise to be duped by Mother Nature. She is giving us a false sense of security right now.....then wham! LOL Only about 1 1/2 inches for us too.....but Barrie ain't that far away!

Anyone else find cats super annoying?
Rattletrap2 replied to Rod Caster's topic in General Discussion
"Theres a book at Chapters i saw the other day called 'Should I declaw kitty?' by Claude Bawls" LOL, a classic for sure! I have absolutely no use for cats! -
Yep, a little late, but hope Y'all had a great Thanksgiving Day! Enjoy your long week-end!

Dave, It is great to see you around here again! In a couple of ways, i am in the same boat as you. My Lowrance unit is also about 10 years old, but going strong. I swear by them because of the support they have shown me with their products. My previous unit had some issues and was an Eagle unit. The factory replaced it free of charge after 4 years!! This one has been great and I love it. Our poor old dog is also having issues. He is 12 as well and declining fast. The last week or so is better, but he has a hard time getting up off the floor and we had to change his diet completely because he wasn't eating. His hearing is very poor and I don't think his vision is much better. He is now managing to get himself outside, but can't go all the way to his usual spot to do his business. It was a long ways into the woods and he had to cross water a couple of times. The bridges iced over one day around Thanksgiving and he fell. That was the real start of his troubles. We let him go out in the front yard now. We are dreading that day when we have to make the decision. Ol' Bubba has been a fantastic friend. He is part Black Lab, part Border Collie, and part Shepherd. Smart as a whip!! Brian

Propane prices could go through the roof
Rattletrap2 replied to Handlebarz's topic in General Discussion
For what it's worth, here is the reply from my MPP. It sounds like something is in the works to amend this legislation. Only time will tell, but it would not hurt to write to your respective representatives. "Mr. xxxxxxx, Thank you for your email about the propane regulation and its impact on your business. I apologize for the delay in responding. Toby Barrett, MPP Haldimand-Norfolk, has been taking the lead on this issue for the Progressive Conservative Caucus. He has been working with the Ontario Propane Association to get urge the government to make changes to this proposal. He has written to the Minister of Consumer Affairs John Gerretson on this issue asking him to adopt the suggestion from the Ontario Propane Association that storage sites under 5,000 gallons be excluded from the new $25,000 requirement. Mr. Barrett has been told by the Minister's Office that a new proposal should be released mid-November. We will continue to track this issue on your behalf and will send you any new information that we receive from the ministry. Thank you for taking the time to send your concerns to Sylvia. She appreciates knowing how this regulation will directly impact your business. Propane prices could go through the roof
Rattletrap2 replied to Handlebarz's topic in General Discussion
I have already wrote to my MPP a few weeks ago. I finally got a response from her office acknowledging my letter, but still have not seen the promised response from Sylvia Jones herself. This is a TSSA (Technical Standards and Safety Authority) issue. They are hard up for funds and looking to make money to sustain themselves. These are the folks that took over from the old MCCR (Ministry of Commercial and Consumer Relations). Lets face it, TSSA is in public doo doo for letting the Sunrise incident happen in Toronto. If they had been inspecting sites like this and doing their duty, it should not have happened. They were transferring propane in an illegal manner, had been sited for it in the past, but allowed to continue. At least this is how I heard it happened. They are using this as a stepping stone to save face with the public and also garner some much needed funding from those $25,000 numbers quoted. The services of a qualified engineer are required. Problem is, there are not many engineers knowledgeable in this area of service. Once written, the plan has to be passed by the local fire department. Most rural fire departments are volunteer based and do not have the expertise in this area either. expediary The time frame and cost to the local distributor is what will push this over the top for most of them. It is absolutely ridiculous to punish the little guys and public for something that has nothing to do with them. People that camp and travel from other Provinces and States will boycott Ontario over this. Once again, the little folks pay the price! I had to load up my utility trailer with the 100# cylinder at our RV trailer and haul it into town for a fill. I'm sure I already got gouged for it this year! Next year, I will expect that dealer will have shut down. There is a Sparlings plant that should survive in Brechin, but they are only open Mon. to Friday. Does not help me much on the week-ends when I can get there. We used to get delivery right to our trailer every second week-end, but even that has ceased already. Royal pain in the you know what!!!! I'm sure our MPP's can apply some pressure if they so choose to get this thing rescinded or turned around. Thing is, they would have to act in a more expedited manner than they are responding to my letter!! I don't get very political very often, but I do have to see both Sylvia Jones (Provincial) and David Tillson (Federal) at our local home and garden shows twice a year. Now I'll have something to "discuss" with them! Could be we have a couple of "pantloads" here...oh and BTW, both are PC, not Liberal! -
I'm just the opposite. If I catch a Pike, I try to clean it's foul scent off my baits in case it scares the "real" fish away.....like BASS! LOL
-
LOL Gord! That's what I'm thinking! It sure would be a shame to get any of that purdy stuff wet by using it! Just kidding guys! I'm obviously envious of your orderly organization. Mine is a just little.....well.....used looking! ( and a lot uglier!). I probably catch less fish though.

Nemo, This looks like the one I took back in the 80's. I attended with my Dad and it was great. I went to the one on Royal York in Etobicoke. I think it was called Kingsmill school back then. The instructor let you bring in your own stuff an he guided you through the overhaul and repair. I think it would be fun to do something like this again! Oh yeah, Humber College North Campus has a great small motor shop geared to outboard marine engines. I just don't know it they offer a course part time. It would be worth checking into.

I'm a little confused, but it ain't the first or last time for this!LOL Regardless if your battery is new or not, it has to read 12.6 volts or better to be fully charged. 12.3 volts is dead as far as I am concerned. If you take the readings at the battery, then line loss through wiring is irrelevant. Electronics such as graphs and such only draw milliamps. I can see them shutting down when you crank over your big engine if the battery is weak. You need to perform a proper load test. Any parts store, garage or CTC can do this for you. Having 12.6 volts at rest and then seeing it drop under load is common with a bad battery. If your wiring to the big engine is undersized, you will drop voltage to it under load (when cranking it) if measured at the motor. If measuring at the battery, it should still show strong unless there is something wrong with your starter motor?

I've had a Polaris 500 X2 (two seater machine) for three years now. I don't ride it hard and try to take good care of it. It is a tool for working around the yard and plowing all winter. Been very good so far.

Beautiful Bass there! I bet it was nice out there today. I know it was sure nice here in the sun today.

Very sorry to read this Loonietoon. I don't think we have met as yet, but I'm pulling for both of you. Think positive!

Why did you join the OFN? Why do you stick around?

I'm not sure how i found my way to this board, but I'm thinking it had something to do with the old Zoo board. It must be 10 years or so now and there is never a dull moment! Triumphs, tribulations, and heartbreaks....they all bring us together and hold us here. -
Weird, I have not posted in about a week at least and I get a message saying they are limiting my posts!

I remember Chris. Good to hear things are going well for him!

Good point about the slush build-up Roy. I don't tow much in the winter, so never had that problem, but something else to think about! I have the PA LED lights on my utility trailer an am very pleased with both their performance and their brightness. They do sell some junk, but they also have some decent stuff and these lights seem to fit into the latter group. As far as trailers over 80" wide goes, the only thing that is required is the three identification lights mounted in the centre of the trailer at the rear. I bought these separately (also LED versions) when they go on sale. Both my boat trailer and utility trailer are over 80". I bought a set of LED lights for the boat trailer as well, but have not got around to changing them out yet. These are from the US equivalent of PA called Harbor Freight. There is a store in the same plaza as Gander Mountain in Port Huron, Michigan. I have side marker LED lights from PA to install as well. Good stuff!

Rizzo, Without a doubt, your neighbour is in the wrong on several counts and needs to be made aware of this! I understand you not wanting to get into an argument with him, but he will never learn f you don't confront him with this. He should have had a spotter to watch his wake boarder and he definitely had to give way to the drifting boat. Let him know it cost you money this time around with your renter, but you are not prepared to put up with this next time. Some people are just asses!

Thanks Shaun! I just watched the episode of you and Blake on Rice lake. Yours is still one of the best shows out there! Just the right mix of entertainment and education without all the loud noise of some shows. Please keep up the good work! -

Rattletrap2 replied to Tarzan's Jane's topic in General Discussion
Very Nice twilight! It's hard to wrong with a Son named "Brian"! LOL I know all too well how emotional it can get when our kids get married. We just celebrated our Daughter and Son in Law's wedding 1 year anniversary. Congrats to you and yours! -
Well I done it.....but man that music sure makes it a sad experience. Reminds me that Summer is over! Very nicely done though!
