  1. Beautiful Doc! I have caught trout in a stream, but never in a lake. This is something I would really like to try one day soon! Either Rainbows or Brook trout would be nice.
  2. Johnny, I think this one is crossing the line for sure. No way this could be legal! No such thing as "personal Stream". You can own the land on both sides (ands sometimes the stream bed), but the water is not owned. I have loads of chub in the tributary of the Nottawasaga River that flows through my backyard. There are also Rock Bass in there too. I don't know if they are competing with the Brook Trout (I assume they are), but there are still lots of trout as well. I'm hoping my Grandkids will be able to catch all three species some day!
  3. LOL, sorry, but you brought it up!...and after all...it is your johnson. Gord, I can't believe how few times I did get up there this year. I have never had more time off in the summer in my life, as I do these days. Still could not see to make it happen enough! Every time i went out, i did manage to catch a few fish with the exception of the last time. I had one follow and one on for a few seconds....and that was it. I'm only giving it a couple of hours at a time and this last time was mid day. It would be good to get out with you at least once!
  4. , Dang, duplicate posts! LOL
  5. Skud, i realize it is after the fact, but if you ever need one again, i would also recommend Jeff Brain. The guys work is excellent and he is quick! Good luck with yours though! Let us know how it goes.
  6. Hey Gord, Is Leatherdale a Merc dealer these days? Or do they just do all makes and models? Sorry to hear things are coming to a close. Anything noteworthy this year?
  7. Good to see you back Sis! I never realized you were sick, but nice to hear that things are looking up. It has been a long while, but Dan is usually around when he can and has given us all a ton of good info on digital photography and beautiful Brookie pics! Unfortunately, Terence's funeral was a sad time for all of us. That was my first time meeting Spiel I believe, and truly a sad time to meet Gerritt. Hmmm.....Dan, it's about time you slowed down a bit with work and get us some more shots of monster trout! For me anyways, it is as close as i am about to get to those fish! Mahumba was a colourful character! The last post i remember was about him falling off his deck and getting hurt! Maybe you can drag him back for a visit? Thunder Bay people in general are all decent folks in my books. We have two Apprentices in school right now from up there and are an absolute pleasure to have around!
  8. Well, I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting either Joe or Art in person, there is no doubt in my mind that they are indeed a couple of the finest! Of course Spiel is a deserving recipient and all around good guy too!
  9. Thanks Shaun! I guess I should have been able to figure that out! I am familiar with TBA, but never heard the term TBC before. I'll keep an eye out for it. Maybe keep us posted as to when and where it will air?
  10. Good luck with the new show Shaun. For the life of me, i cant see where this show is aired or when? I did enjoy the show a few years back, but have not seen any episodes in a long time. What does TBC mean from your website? Thanks
  11. Pretty awesome post Ryan! Something very special between you guys. Cherish it.
  12. HaHa....good one! TJ the almighty!
  13. Scugogs advice is right on the money! i noticed Princess Auto had the breakers in 40 amp and 50 amp for $3.99 each. NAPA ones might be better quality....but something tells me they are all a little on the chincy side! I don't recall if they were manual reset though. Not a big deal. It should never trip anyways if sized correctly.
  14. Happy Birthday Tybo! So after this year, you become what.....Joey's "Manfriend"? LOL
  15. Limeyangler, I'll be the first to admit that i am very 'narrow minded" when it comes to things like vacationing in Europe. It's just something that would never interest me....until I see your report! LOL The pictures around the parents farm are amazing! Thanks for 'the eye opener"! The majority of my travels have been in the US and there are some amazing sights there and here in other parts of Canada as well, but I am always glad to be back home again! I guess there really is no place like it! I really enjoyed looking at your pictures and videos. Thanks
  16. I usually cross at Port Huron into Sarnia as well, but if you want to see Cabela's, then Detroit into Windsor is easier. There is a good Gander Mountain store right near the border in Port Huron and a Bass Pro Shop in Auburn Hills just North of Detroit. Frankenmuth does have the Bronner's Christmas store which is over 140,000 square feet of Christmas decorations. It is pretty cool though and something to see if you folks like Christmas (We sure do!). Birch Run is right there and they have the Prime Outlet Mall which is huge! We just came through there a couple of week back and did all these places in Michigan. There is a place there called Harbor Freight Tools...which is the Princess Auto of the US. Lots of crap made by the C. Hina Company....but some neat stuff as well! Cabela's has done a major renovation and it was pretty nice. Last year, it was looking kind of tired. They don't have their live bait section anymore, but the rest is pretty nice. A tornado went through Dundee, Michigan in June and there is a lot of damage in the Cabela's area. Enjoy your trip! Michigan is a nice State. If you ever get the time or opportunity to head over to the Western part of the State it is awesome. Very clean and the beaches are nice. As you head South, if you pass through Flint, they still have an Outback restaurant and an Olive Garden. Two favourites of ours! Good luck!
  17. About 20 years ago, I lived in a relatively new sub division. There were old quarries all around us. When they started to fill in the old gravel pits to make parks and such, it destroyed the habitat for a lot of animals such as coons, skunks, and of all things....RATS! We would see them all over the neighbourhood, but especially on garbage day. They openly went about their business running back and forth across the streets from garbage can to can. We had them burrowing in the sand beside our house and found they were storing food under our pre-cast concrete steps. We called the city and the idiots that responded didn't believe us. They said they could only be mice! I had to use large snap traps baited with peanut butter to trap them. I kept them in a plastic bag to prove to the city idiots what we had. Long story short, everyone in the area had to make changes. No garbage left outside. No firewood piles on or too close to the ground. Any debris between houses had to be cleaned up. Like already mentioned, get rid of the housing and the food! Trap as many as you can and keep setting the traps until you stop getting any or seeing the signs of them. Good luck! They can certainly be disgusting!
  18. I say 8.8125 lbs. or 8 pounds 13 ounces How come the first shirt design is a picture of Roy?
  19. I see that TSC has the AgriFab cart on sale and also their own small trailer that carries 750 lbs. I use the Princess Auto trailer around the house to haul all sorts of stuff with both the ATV and tractor. It is decent quality for the money, but may not be off-road enough for you. It has no suspension.
  20. Chris, This comes as absolutely no surprise to most of here, that you have raised an incredible Daughter! You are a very wise man and with the care and consideration that you have shown your children, well, how could we expect anything less? Man, how time flies! I can't believe that Mackenzie is already heading off to university. The essay is a real good read and you should be justifiably proud. I wish i had sen this earlier, but I am away in Michigan for the week and only seen it now. I'll get the family and friends on board and I have done my part today. Come on folks, there is amazing strength in this community. Be sure EVERYONE on your contact lists gets their votes in. It is really quite easy! Mackenzie and her Dad are definitely a couple of our own. Lets push her over the top!
  21. I've done this quite a number of years ago on a 9.9 Merc, but never on a bigger outboard. Mine is working fine, but I have not done it since i got the motor 9 years ago...and who knows when it was done before that. I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't mess with it", but we all know this part is made of rubber and will eventually fail when we least want it to. Has anyone done one on a mid 80's 90 H.P. Merc or similar? I noticed slowpoke has a Mariner 75 H.P. that is not peeing and this could be next on his list? Is it just the 4 bolts and the lower unit drops off? I know you should have gaskets and such for the repair job, but just curious about how much work it is to get at it. Thanks
  22. Beautiful looking workmanship on the refurb! Of course, the fish are nice too!
  23. I spent 27 years working as an HVAC/R Mechanic on commercial and industrial equipment. The latter part of my time was spent working in a specialty area of the trade. I serviced Scientific equipment that reached temperatures as low as -152 deg.C. We also supported Life Science equipment such as incubators and test chambers. I was managing this work all across Canada for a contractor based here in Ontario. We provided warranty service for all the major US manufacturers. I gave that up in 2007 to pursue a full time teaching position working with Apprentices in our field. I prepared for this by teaching part-time since 1995 and taking professional training in how to teach technical courses. It's been a fun 3 years and I never look back!
  24. Bob, Here in Orangeville, any time an old hardwood tree has to come down or dies, it is carved into something really cool. These carvings are in the older neighbourhoods all over town and line the sidewalks. Really neat!
  25. Yep, another one in favour of Garmin here!
