  1. Is that in dog years. Have a good one, happy birthday.
  2. Thanks Brain, lot's of work your doing there, good job.
  3. Never tried them, don't know why, they probably taste good and hardly anyone keeps them, nice haul.
  4. Thanks fellas. Yup, Red Cedar It was windier than a witches broomstick out there. Well I just made the design/shape with Correll Draw and then traced it on the wood. The hardest part is tuning them, the most important thing is the lip slot has to be square so you cut it out before shaping while the wood is still blocked and everything has to be centered, from there it's into the bath tub to make sure the weight is good and it's floating straight, after that a test in the boat and then paint if it's running good. They are all going in my tackle box, lol, theres lot's of compitition out there in musky world. I would have to make 100 of the same lure/design and perfect a couple paint schemes before I would think of selling any, it would be much easier once you have a go to design on paper all measured and calculated. My personal tackle box will look good for now.
  5. That is one nasty looking creature. Nice pics.
  6. The jointed ones are 9" and the big cranks are 12" without the lip. I made these in the fall and already banged them around on the rocks in November but never got a hit. so there a little scratched up. I don't have a work shop so I make one at a time when I make them, they are never the same but the mechanics are all in perfect working order, the paint job and epoxy top coats are a different story. I painted these ones by hand and a regular spray can. These were my first attempt with a air brush, tough to get the hang of but it does blend better. And I just made these a few weeks ago, just need to add the hardware and epoxy coats. I wish I had a work shop to make 40 or 50 blanks at a time of the same design and paint schemes to get better at it. It would be much easier and would be a lot more efficient but it's still fun building one at a time with the tools all over the place. I could work outside in the summer but that's fishing time, no time to be building lures.
  7. Try that one rock, near the small weed bed, by the drop off, close to the sandy shore, beside the gravel bottom with the slow current eddy and timber pile to the left of the creek mouth. I herd it is a great spot.
  8. I love how the gas here up north were nobody can afford it is higher than the city, because we don't sell as much, so the gas companies make sure they get there money anyway. 112 today in Parry Sound and my predictions are a miraculous shortage of gas on the long weekend, it will jump to around 150 or close to it.
  9. That's amazing work Wayne, have fun fishing, hope you nail some pigs. (Not that kind)
  10. Yup, they were out yesterday, when they are at the worst in the spring it's usually one of the best fishing days/weeks of the year I have noticed.
  11. I'm not worried about the paint for now so I drilled out the bad rivets, sanded down the area and cleaned it with some oil/dirt remover than put the sikaflex over the end of the rivet and around the hole and then clamped it in with the gun. The rivets fit tight. I was going to pull the floor out but with further inspection it was a huge job, the wood was riveted down and so was all the console and compartments, so I figured I would have messed things up even more if I tore the boat apart. Here's what the rivets I got look like :

  13. I love night fishing, musky and walleye feed more at night in my opinion caught lot's of bass to and trout love the dark, Pike the afternoon seems to be the best. It's good in high traffic areas or pressured areas to go back at night, it's calm, peaceful and the bite can be on fire sometimes all to yourself. Just try to fish the same areas you do in the day but maybe a little shallower. I like loud noisy baits at night for walleye and musky, but casting jigs has worked well at night for walleyes to.
  14. Wayne I appreciate the advice you gave me during the winter and you even offered to bring it by your shop. I was going to pull everything out and just hammer it down but I said @#$@ it and went out and bought rivets, sikaflex and borrowed a rivet gun from a marina friend. I went to town on it today and got about 50 new rivets in I'll see if it leaks tomorrow, if not than I'm just going to continue to do the whole bottom and transom area (only about 200 all together) They are different rivets than before, the gun pulls a nail through it tight and breaks off so you don't need the inside of the boat, I hope it works but it's to late to go back now. It felt really air tight and I globed the sikaflex all underneath, I think it will work good.
  15. LOL, missed that one Terry, looks good to me.
  16. Do they come in 11", lol, still to small for me. Perfect for Pike though.
  17. Unfortunately I can't afford to field test all the name brands, I've only used Lowrance so I voted Lowrance, no problems with them at all and customer service is great, I broke my 102C the warranty was up and they fixed it for free anyway. The Raymarine units look unbelievable, could be my next unit.
  18. I think time in jail is a little severe over $800 or any monetary scams (not all but most), public humiliation would be a better solution if he has any conscience he would be ashamed of himself for years to come. Put his picture in local newspapers, websites etc... and let it be known he has no morals and that would be a bigger punishment just letting him walk around town getting shunned upon. The tax payers don't need to pack the jails with these type of people, that would be just like giving him another $40000 each year to sit in jail. Maybe 5000 hours of public service would be a good solution, make him do work on the same water he cheated on.
  19. Well I'm on Georgian Bay and by the time the season opens (end of June) the forage is already large anyway so I use the same baits right from the get go. If the season opens early in Ohio than it might be a good idea to "match the hatch" as they say, and start smaller but I don't follow the so called rules. I like to use bucktails and spinnerbaits all year long you can't go wrong, they account for more fish than any other lure and are the easiest to use if your just starting. Get some small ones big ones and huge ones and start casting or trolling and your bound to hook something.
  20. That's why they call it musky "hunting" not an easy fish to find, but you did find one and came very close and had a great time with your pops.
  21. Shawanaga river and shawanaga bay are my home waters on georgian bay, I've never fished shawanaga lake.
  22. If the products are manufactured in the US there is no duty, if they are made in China or any other country they will hit you for the duty fee.
  23. That's amazing Pam, I've always thought people and faces would be the hardest thing to paint and you nailed that one.
  24. Way to go Ryan, showed your old man how it's done. Nice report Mike.
  25. Maybe you hit a huge Laker sun tanning at the surface. That must of surprised you. The boat turned out looking great, you'll get some fish in it next time.
