Nice report Green, looks like fun, lots of nice fish.

Glad you like them Hen, get out there and get a big one. Yep it's a little skunky at the moment, It's been in the water since April. I don't now about other waters but up here I've never seen so much algae/pollen in my life, there were two weeks where I seen yellow brick roads out in the bay and you could hardly breath the air, it really was thick and my boat needs a wash on the bottom that's for sure. Anyone else see "yellow brick roads" in the water this year ? I mean these were 50 yards wide and as far as I could see long out in the middle of the bay for 2 weeks.

Any Plug Turners or Hand Carvers on Here?
GbayGiant replied to FishHeadRic's topic in General Discussion
I made the two in my signature, lot's more too and bucktails ect.... I purchased a lathe, small band saw, belt sander, drill press, router and a air brush, started with a scroll saw but a band saw is much better for making musky/pike stuff, and a load of sandpaper and elbow grease will get the job done. I want to start hand carving walleye lures with bass wood too, one things for sure if you don't have any wood lures your missing out, the action is amazing. -
What about white ? I like white and chartreuse, every time I put orange on the damn bass go crazy a steal all my bait, I like perch patterns for walleye, you got white, green, orange all in there maybe that has something to do with it.

Ya, cause I'm an idiot. It was a crappy rusty cotter pin I put in at the start of the year, I don't think it was stainless steal so it rotted and broke off is my guess.

Of vulgar profanity. I was going full speed to the river today and all of a sudden my boat stops and the engine revs up so high it almost blew, took the lid of the motor to check things out everything seems to be fine, looked down at the lower end to see that the prop fell off. This was my extra prop. Oh well motors fine just need a couple new props. Had a cell phone so all was fine, ride was on the way. Caught this little guy while waiting, I took it home to clean, usually would have let it go but I was in a clubing mood. My old man came to the rescue in my old fishing vessel, 15hp, pulled us home in 45min from where I was, going around 9mph according to the fish finder.. Pulled out the musky rod and stayed in my boat and trolled the whole way home but 4mph would have been my normal range 9 was a little quick, didn't get any action but had the lure running true the entire way. Anyway just remember a spare prop and cotter pin is the moral of this story. Here's a couple gay man I took last week, this guy almost got a prop to the noggin, he was more than half way accross but the boat scared him and he turned around and went back even though it was further away.

Great news, congrats.

Bin there. I've though of blending up the dead minnows/worms ect.. to a liquid and injecting soft bates with the magic sent. Also, some sort of compartment on a wood bait to stuff full of sent with a small hole to release some every so often. Lot's of ideas just never get to them.

Cograts on the amazing trip, more muskies than most guys catch in a life time. I like that hand shot of Dans 52" it does show the real size of these girls.
-
It depends on the lure size to, I really only make musky lures with a little air brush, I use premixed taxidermy paints they really are fairly cheep to and the color is already natural and then 3 coats of 30min epoxy. But the size of lure matters because a thick coat of epoxy will ruin the action so it just depends on the lure what kind of coat to use. Small lure nail polish, medium lure maybe I light coat of epoxy, large musky lure 3-5 coats won't affect the action. If you have a ton of lures or plan to paint a lot in the future get a airbrush with a little air compressor, there all over ebay not too expensive, for big musky lures you can get away with a regular spay can and Small lures I would just use a little brush.

Yes try to get a fresh one, but the Nautilus big deep cycles are good.

Ya, the bays open, the last 2 years I was out in late November/December in the boat just before ice up and seen them splashing around rite at night for about 15 days straight like clock work but I tried everything imaginable and they won't bite anything, I guess they are spawning but I did accidentally snag one (that's how many come in) they were everywhere in 10 fow in a little gravel bottom/current area it looked like it was raining out on the water, I wish they would eat, other than that I've never caught any on the bay but never really tried but I'm sure you could find someone that knows to get you out for one. If the damn things would bite I'd take you out and get some but they got some serious lock jaw when they come in to spawn.

If I had to choose only one it would be a 1/4oz chart jig and minnow.

Awesome, your dad will remember that day for ever.

Nice job CC, great looking fish.

Thanks guys. It's funny I got a musky on the same walleye gear 2 weeks ago but no picture, it's happens a lot up here, I go musky fishing and don't get a sniff than go walleye fishing and get pike/muskies. must be doing something wrong. Got the Pike in super fast current in 10fow, had a 3/4 oz jig and casting up current.

Nice fish, Fish.

A pair of beauties Lew, very nice fish.

But a nice surprise. Took my mom out walleye fishing, got skunked but this little girl thought a jig and shiner combo looked good enough for a snack. She put up a good fight and then I told my mom to grab the walleye net and the fish decided to bust loose and tare my net appart, lol, I had my arm and rod through the hole in the net with the net on my shoulder and somehow managed to land it, 42" and healthy released to assassinate another fisherman's net in the future.

Holiday Report. Part 1. BC Sturgeon @ FRFL.
GbayGiant replied to Moosebunk's topic in General Discussion
Wow, thanks Bunk, just woke up and read this report, thought I was still dreaming, amazing pictures and fish, hope I can get there one day for some prehistoric action. -
There's nothing up here. No' it is tough, always. There is depth changes weed beds/ drop offs, scowles, gravel, boulders, current, every type of hiding/feeding spots you could imagine all over the place so finding them is always difficult even if you fish here all year, I've never been able to pin point or track to accurately, but if you know the water temp from recent years that's the best you can do to locate them, even then it's not for sure, never is.

Thanks Misty, I was looking on the search but didn't see that. Crazy you got a PM.
