  1. Voted cats, but only big channel cats if not it would be carp, the average carp is scrappy.
  2. Try to add some worm harnesses for walleye to your arsenal, I don't leave home without them. Tip it with a minnow or worm depending how warm the water is, cold = minnows warm = worms.
  3. Wow, I would say you need at the bare minimum 2 more set-ups. The ultra light will do for the crappie and perch, you will need a medium or medium heavy action, 10-17lbs rod to handle bass and walleye but one rod for each species might be a better idea a medium for Walleye and medium heavy for bass is standard. Definitely a separate muskie rod for sure, the Pete Maina combo at bass pro for around $200 is a good start and price with 80lbs line is standard. I'm afraid you have a lot of reading to do those are some questions that take some time to learn, but this would be the bare minimum to get started. As far as lures, I would suggest searching this site for lot's of good info or do a Google search on each species and start reading, you have a lot to learn my friend, it takes time, you are tackling a lot of information for 1 post, it would take about 100 posts to cover all the species for rods, reels, lures ect.. you mentioned.
  4. Congrats on a great day guys, nice fish.
  5. Well, tomorrow is the day some of us have been waiting for all winter, a few walleyes are still spawning so I think it will be a little slow, might have to go for Pike instead, either way at least we'll be on the water. I might go out at midnight if I can't sleep. Let the games begin. Hope everyone has a good year, good luck. Here's my good friend Brad, he came up in May last year and we got into some nice ones (the bigger one was 29") I usually release and he always keeps everything so we compromised and kept 2 instead of our limit of 4. These particular fish spent the night in the live well because we got to the cooler and barbecue before we could clean the fish. Woke up with a huge hangover, cleaned and ate the fish for breakfast.
  6. Very nice guys, I'm envious. Art, how the h@ll can you breath with that stoegy in your mouth fighting a fish at the same time ? that's some true skill there.
  7. The sensitivity will still be there and you will notice the difference. The line is highly visible in the water (all the braid colors) sure the floro leader will be a bit thicker than the braid but it's almost invisible in the water, it's the best of both worlds. Color, I usually go wilth green just because it's matches the water the best. The good thing about braid is that you can detect hits and line movement by watching the line move around, I've set the hook on fish where I didn't even feel a bite but I could see the line moving. I've tried every line out there and I'm convinced that Braid with a floro leader is superior in 90% of situations.
  8. That's a beauty pike Darren and they did a awesome job on the mount to. Is that the lucky lure in it's mouth ? were you casting or trolling ?
  9. Go gett'em tomorrow Beans. Set the alarm clock on the other side of the room, so you have to get up to turn it off. That's what I have to do.
  10. Thanks Terry, I went through everything on the site and missed that one, I'm good now. Don't know how it got switched in the first place.
  11. They look great. I just made about 30 a couple days ago to, I retie new ones every spring and use all the old good parts, just change the line and broken parts. Good for another year.
  12. When I click on a topic it opens but all the responses are just listed at the bottom. How do you get it back to normal ? to show all the full responses. Thanks.
  13. Good luck, let us know how you do, lot's of pics.
  14. I switch hands before the lure even hits the water, as I'm sure the other guys with this technique do the same, no problems at all.
  15. I'm ambidextric as well, don't know why it's just a natural reflex. I usually make the cast with the rod in my right hand, then pass the rod to my left and reel with my right.
  16. If it comes from the US anyway you might as well shop at Cabellas, they usually have better prices. They add all the prices in as well and they ship it so it has no problems at customs, it just goes straight through.
  17. I'm still on dial up and the pages are loading in less than 6 seconds.
  18. Those things are nuts, they can breath out of water to, look like dinosaurs.
  19. I've never thought of the toilet seat one before, makes a lot of sense to me.
  20. Nice fish guys. Mark are you sponsored by Hooters to or was that sticker a personal touch on the boat ? I like the bass paint job.
  21. Ya, it's a sanctuary to the mouth until June and by then all the fish are long gone anyway, I've seen a couple pike in the summer in there but nobody fishes it. I trap some nice chub minnows for bait though.
  22. I was just pulling your leg bud. It's definitely the nicest set-up I've seen, someone will take it off your hands.
  23. Hey Wayne, your suppose to figure out what you need before purchasing, not after. A broke guy like me can't afford that type of shopping.
  24. They look good kicker. Did you make your own molds to ?
  25. No pics ? Quit teasing us.
