January 15-17th. Next weekend. This is the super show. It's a biggie at the International Center.
-
You now have a choice, worm dangler or H2. Take them both out fishing!
-
Did that hat come free with the suit? Hat looks kinda "wimpy" to me. Hahaha! Nice job with the cat. Fine fish. When you ate it, did you immediately start growing whiskers?

I have to get these ready for the spring so that I can race everyone at the cottage and dodge trees and little critters. I know, cramped work area in my basement! I am working on this all in 2009 till present. It is an endless project and always on the go, especially during off season. This winter I want to install a wide rear tire (tranny and swing arm mods) before: during: now: But who has the time when we are all out fishing???!!! Hahaha! Disco
-
I'm thinking of filling the bathtub up with cold water and ice cubes and hopping in with mine seeing that I haven't been able to get on the ice yet. The quality of the suit is outstanding compared to my old suit. Fish safe and have fun

Great job again! You have been catching so many fish that they have been chomping at your shins ... I can tell from the video footage when your legs are shown. Amazing fun out there. Thank you for the report.

Hey wait a sec ... I didn't have a new Salus suit waiting for me under the tree on Christmas morning??? Mind my manners?? I should be keeping a closer eye on this girl, and find out who this "boyfriend" is!! GCD, I better not see posts with you in a brand spankin' new Salus suit!!! I'm on to you! hahaha! It's an awesome suit, all jokes aside. Can't wait to to roll around on the ice with it.

Deer tracks on Portage Bay? That gives me a good idea to help conceal the good fishing spots so that people don't follow my footprints. Wear deer shoes when I walk out on the lakes. Thank you for scouting things out. Knowing where not to go is definitely helpful. The way things are going, the 2 big lakes will end up having the same feb 14 opener.

Ugg, that's not what I wanted to hear Suds. Portage bay would have been good, but the currents at the mouth weaken the ice all around I hear. I was looking forward to coming up that way for my first outing. It seems that all of the places I want to go are unsafe and will be unsafe. Thanks for the heads up!

Now that is true Christmas spirit. The gift of love. The spirit sure reflects the miraculous realms we are in touch with and need them the most Amazing. Merry Christmas!

How to dodge and react faster when my girlfriend is casting! Also, more productive using the downriggers and learning the currents. Seems to be an art that I just don't have yet.

I know the pain. I dislocated my shoulder while white water kayaking on the Magnetawan. It hurt like hell ... so much that I was passing out while driving myself to the hospital on hwy 69 down to to Parry Sound. Ambulance came and picked me up in Point Au Baril. Dumb me. That was the 2nd day in of my 2 week cottage vacation. I was fishing in the boat 3 days after, still able to use my wrist to reel. I wasn't going to ruin my entire vacation. Fishing was definitely more therapeutic and effective than pain killers. You can still be active, but within reason of course. But I have the most important advice to tell you. Make sure that arm doesn't move! Wear your arm tight and snug to your chest. It may be uncomfortable, but that's how it has to be. The arm can't slouch. When you take a shower, try to maintain the position of sling. I can't stress this enough. If you think it's okay, and you can let it slide for that one time, it's not. It has to properly heal. Think about it. What is 6 weeks of committed effort compared to the rest of your life with unrestricted ability? Trust me. If it doesn't heal properly the first time, there is no second time ... well, there is, but you would want to avoid surgery if you can. Stick with the rehab during the recovery phase and do your routines. You may think that time is wasted, that's where I went wrong. My arm isn't where it should be, and it still hurts 6 years later to this day. The next few months are the most important to you right now. You can still do things right now, just make sure it doesn't move! Oh yeah, sleep with a pillow under your slung elbow. It will allow it to rest more easily with the natural contour of your body. I hope this helps you out!

only crazy people on cooks bay..last years report

Thanks for the report. That sounds a little sketchy being out there. But in the event I end up on the ice, I will make sure not to eat the McDonald's Burrito breakfast combo so that I don't fracture the ice around me and fall through after an accidental fart or two. Now that would be really embarrassing. Thanks for the heads up and be careful! -
White 3-5 inch tubes have been the most successful. To entice the bite try adding rattles to them. I often inject them with Berkley scent too. This is especially effective at night. Ohhhh ... I like nighttime laker fishing! When the fish are fussy, and they don't feel like dancing and are sulking on the bottom, slow it right down to the floor for them. Just barely lift the head of the jig so that the tail remains in contact with the bottom at all times. Side to side, laying it down flat on its right to left. You will have fun with this when you know they are down there playing with you. Good luck!

Rosseau .... anyone ventured a look this week ?

Hmm, I am really curious too! I found the sweet spot where you saw me last, but way behind us in much shallower water where it comes out of the bowl. -
I don't have a quad, but I have been riding and fixing motorcycles enough to know to be careful of the purchase. I know this may not be a direct answer to what you should look for mechanically, but this is an important consideration to a person who may potentially overlook this matter. Make sure the vin matches the ownership. Many casings and frames match on older bikes, but there are also many bikes that have both frame and motor assembled at different plants with unmatched vins. Same for quads I'm sure. You can get all the info from a vin number. You may purchase a year x registered frame with a year y motor (seller switched at some point). Just be careful. Also, you don't want to end up buying something that is owned by the bank. Make sure you know the history when you buy it. You probably already know all of this. Compression test is good like someone already mentioned. Note any difference in measure among cylinders, not necessarily what it should be at. Oh yeah, make sure the wheels are round. Square wheels are really old fashioned and obsolete. Good luck!

Looks like a Grand Ole Time! Congrats to the great catch! -
You should put the reel cam on Ebay as you said! It seems 'reel' sturdy! That's it, I have given it a name. Let's share the patent. Shall I call Dragons Den or should you? Great job again!

Maybe then when he stops moving will he be able to stop a puck more naturally.

I enjoy reading your reports and watching the videos. Thank you for the entertainment! I can't wait to get out this season. It's like a carrot dangling in front of me, but I just can't get there yet. Good luck tomorrow if you get out.

That was awesome! Thanks for the talent show and the dedication. -
I had to lay down on the floor and take a breather through all of that. That was intense. My heart is still pumping with excitement. That is legendary from every possible angle. Thank you so much for this amazing post. Something of this caliber I can only dream about.

That thing would have hauled me into the water and had me for breakfast! Dang thing would have put my cigarette out too! Hmmm, wait a sec, that's a toss up. -
Fished there for 4 days this year at a cottage near Baysville this past August. We couldn't even find a decent school of lakers. We spent more time scouting than dragging the balls. We talked with a few residents there who were friends of the people I was staying with, and they said the laker fishing has been progressively declining over the many years, and they have lived there for a couple generations. I guess they were wrong, and we were looking in the wrong places. But to be realistic, it is a big lake. My girlfriend managed to catch a 42" pike while fishing off the dock. That was the only fish we caught on that vacation. Should have given up on the lakers the first day we got there and stuck with the pike. I'm sure it was just us who couldn't catch a laker, and were misinformed. Good luck next year! I would like to know your success.

I'm very sorry about the loss of your father. Every fishing trip with the people you love should be cherished always as much as they have before and after. Every occasion counts, and awesome of you to make your fishing trip a golden memory.
