You are like a Pickerel magnet Simon! Awesome perseverance to get into the action. It's definitely an awesome example of how things can change with a little knowledge and some effort. Incredible! Thanks for the post and truly inspiring

Yup, this is the quickest route. I live at College and Bathurst. When I come back into the city from the cottage, I take Black Creek right off the 400. Black Creek turns into Weston turns into Keele turns into Parkside! Don't let that intimidate you, it's one continuous street! Parkside ends at the Lakeshore, hang a left towards the Harbour. You are there quick and easy!

North Of Superior Brook Trout ~ A True Adventure

What an amazing journey. That is a true testament of your will to survive life, and overcome the obstacles that many people can only imagine to take on themselves. Life is so pure and peaceful when experiencing it at that level, but yet it takes hard work to execute and evolve. At the end of that trail, it's like you never lost an ounce of strength because of it's rewards. You have just inspired me to not complain about packing the vehicle for the weekend trip ... trust me, it takes what you did to stop me from doing it! Hehe. I guess I better get up off the couch now <sigh> -
Wow. "OFC" was substituted 33 times in that original composition. That has to be a record of some sort.

Ugg! I literally had my mouth full of breakfast when I scrolled to that picture! Thanks Lew for that added extra taste of "outdoor wilderness" on my toast. It was a little hard to swallow. It appears to be what you had suspected. I'm stepping in the stuff everywhere at the cottage. Lots of bears in our neck of the woods.

Are you sure those aren't squirrels? The squirrels these days have been feasting on their fall harvest leftovers, so they can be quite large during the spring season, and often mistaken for bears.

There is a public launch across from CC Kennedy's. I was by there a few weeks ago, and it looks like they have been reconstructing the walls around that area. I'm not certain that it's even there any more. All I know is that it is a sketchy launch pad, and really steep and broken up. I remember inspecting the launch thinking that one day I may go in from there, but realized it would be a bad idea. There are several marinas on both north and south sides of the bay, but I'm not sure how much their fees are. There is a bait shop on the east side of the hwy across from the gas station. If you call them, they will be more than happy to help you out. They are good people. Good luck! E & R Tackle & Bait Phone #: 705-366-2558

Great to see a post from you Carole. A great read, thank you. Looks like an awesome day on the water. Sunny and no wind! It's only the beginning to a great season, isn't it? Very exciting! Will, I think your fish is bigger only because you are holding it closer! Did you catch him on the Abu? hehe. Green with envy here. Putting the boat in the water this weekend. I think we are expecting a little snow!

Sweet! All of these river reports are making me want to get out! Great job, and awesome photos

See what happens when they tell you to "shut up and go!!!" ???? That's music to your ears, right?!! From now on, just take her advice before she even has to say it!!! Be careful though ... the ones with the f-bombs mixed in may have you think twice. It's really all a mind game, isn't it?? haha! Great job on the river!

Great stuff! That picture of your son and the pike is awesome!

I'm thinking that I should now wear a paper bag over my head next time I walk through there! If it's not the satellites, it's something else! A good friend of mine lives in the next building. I don't live too far myself. Strangely enough, I have yet to take a rod and cast. I think it's because people would end up looking at me funny to say "what the heck are you doing?". Although, I have taken my rod out to relieve myself over that wall. They all looked at me the very same way. Odd indeed.

Hey Fishnfool. Thanks for the report and update on this "bog" place. Is that somewhere in Thunder Bay? If I can round the squareness of my car wheels and find my steering wheel, maybe I will drive there and check it out. Do I follow the route that says "bog" on the map? It sounds really interesting. What's a "bog"? Are we expected to know? Come to think of it, I know. But wait, apparently I am not welcome to fish there. Good thing you left your camera at home, because I'm sure it would have revealed your location. Hmmm. So it really doesn't make a difference then. Anyway, Great job on the Crappie and thanks for the update. I hope to get out to open water myself in a week. Some would be relieved that I'm going straight north rather than east I'm sure.

Awesome report! That coffee you drank must have been as thick as syrup to keep you up on the drive. Does Robb work on brains too? Mine hasn't been running as smooth as it should. I think it's just a cobweb problem, and not the bearings. Good job on the river!

If it's stored in a controlled climate, the box is safe. Heck, even if it wasn't, I'm sure Jiffy is like Wonder Bread. They both have a shelf life of 2 years or more. There would be many seized motors out there if that was not the case. I'm sure The factory has applied enough agent on the metals for you not to worry about it until it is used.

I browsed around for a bit, couldn't find much about the seasonal pattern, except that they feed more in the fall, winter, and spring, then they do in the summer. On Minnesota's gov website, they are requesting each catch to be documented and photographed and reported back to the DNR. I guess they are in decline as well. If this was the case in Ontario, I would send a picture of someone kicking me in the crotch, because this is all that we usually catch while fishing for pickerel. Hrumph.

Awesome job! The photos are amazing. Must be nice to have a little privacy on the rivers while enjoying these experiences.

We always catch puppies through the ice at the cottage. It's such an frequent occurrence that we don't even want to put our lines down. I have fished our lake all my life, I wonder why I haven't ever caught one of these in the spring, summer, or fall? Strange indeed.

Great job on the new upgrade. It's so good that it makes my fish look bigger, even out of water! Thank you for all of the hard work and dedication. Lots of work and sleepless nights. Definitely appreciated.

I think he's talking about the paddles in the boat? Did you use a "hard wood"?

That sounds like a lot of fun John. Would be interesting to stretch the DT frame for the climbs and see how that performs! I would love to have an old British twin. Put an old CT up against the heavy twins and I bet it would be the same result. You should find yourself a scoot. Life is too short to tell yourself to hold on and wait for the opportunity (to an extent). It's definitely affordable, and certainly has been a great memorable experience in your life. It will make you happy, and that's something you can't put a price tag on. You can apply this to all of the interesting hobbies mentioned in this thread. If you know it will make you happy, and it's attainable to you, then go for it and get it done! Everything we do here keeps us together, for ourselves and for others. It's an important part of life, whatever it is that we do. What is it that we do? Oh yeah, fishing. See?

That is correct. The 68 was white, the 69 was goldy orange, and the 70 was red. If you end up finding that 68 bike under your deck, or packed away somewhere in your garage, give me a call! I hear they are really dangerous to ride, and the wheels fall off from time to time, and on occasion it turns left when you want to go right, and I also hear that the seat pops up and ejects the rider over small little bumps in the road. So you really don't want a bike like that, now do you?
-
The 68 was a very special bike indeed! If you find one in Ontario, there will be a race to it!
-
Yup, there are few DT 250's, and few RT 360's (1970-1973), and even one CT, napping around the house/garage. I'm in the middle of waking them up right now from a long hibernation. I have had my R6's, my YZF's ... bikes that would stretch the skin at @ 250 kph, but you know what? These guys are more fun! Sorry to hear about accident on the Ninja. It's good that you okay and able to write about it.
