  1. Ohhhh she's a helluvalot smarter than I was at her age... maybe smarter than me at my age now too. The sturgeon are from France... or some country like that. Can't actually think of any cool incidentals this year dood! Gar would certainly surprise ya if not used to them. Toothy nightmare. Few fish are as stubborn at the end of the line, that's for sure Rick. Sadly it's at the bottom of the river. This spring some rainy day or two I'm looking to make another. Losing the careful work is more annoying than losing the dollars put into one. Total confidence it'll be a great summer bait to troll up top. Thank you sir.! And thanks for reading gang.
  2. The autumn season finished up and finally found some down time to piece together the second of two reports, both which pretty well sum up a great fish at home. Really taken to the muskies in recent times, and this fall they were the primary target. Did quite well in the end, catching more 50+ inchers this year than any before. Bren caught a great best and I managed a couple true Larry tanks that really did make all the time and effort worth it. It was about five or six years ago and a trip down to St. Clair with my friend Andy when he kinda put the fire into me for these awesome fish. Since then, its been hard not to appreciate the hunt for skis. Last fall I tried targeting sturgeon as well. This year with friends and family along we took that up a notch. A few great days were had on the water with everyone boating multiple fish and a sixty-incher or better. A couple outings I broke away from both these fish to enjoy a half day solo back lake fish for smallies. My only day bass fishing this year, it turned out alotta fun. That second day out was a BOQ troll for fall eyes with a couple buddies. It started slow until early afternoon when we found 'em! Those interested in the usual from me can read on if they like... LUNKER'S OF THE FALL. FALL'S FIVE FOOTERS FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS. Careful on that fresh ice and Happy Holidays gang. Bunk.
  3. Those scutes are razors... Teach 'em the safe ways. Leah loved her sturgeon fishing this fall too.
  4. Me too man! Just need the work done at his end to get it posted. One problem may be, that it's slower than dialup some days here in Nunavut. As for this report, pretty sure some of these pics were on my PC for two years. Difficult to get Mike motivated when it was brought up. Quite liked this write up and the fish but really, it's part two that takes the cake. So hurry up Mikey!!! Git'er done.
  5. Ahhhh... enjoy both Chris. Specks followed by some sunny R&R, you're living it this month man! Solid fish.
  6. Welcome aboard. Three easier fisheries to fish with Clair the easiest, closest and best shot for a bigger fish. Just gotta watch the winds outta Belle.
  7. This weekend has been totally depressing John. I'd be fishing in this but the boat went away Friday cause work starts Monday. Yesterday through ti'll Wednesday are all awesome days for Quinte winds and some for the muskie barometer. Not to mention, backwoods trout. Gawdammit!!! Wish there was one more week.
  8. One of the good guys here for sure... Always liked Photoz. Condolences to family and friends.
  9. If that's the end of it Gordy, that's the end. But a good finish. Those bows are super fat and surely gave your daughter a good fight on the line. Great to see her getting into it, hopefully she keeps up with it.
  10. You're not a little fella Bill... so I know those are good fish. May have to follow suit and put in just one day of bass this year. Fall fishing has been pretty well been all muskie. Bit hard by that bug. Smallies are a tonne of fun though.
  11. Gordy, Mike, Chris... Thanks for reading doods. Mike... get that write-up started.
  12. Great pic and it would have been cool sitting on that log with ya sipping some java too.
  13. As you well know Chris, it's all that planning and dreaming which can make it that much more special, or even tear it apart sometimes. Because of having a completely new location on Nipigon this spring, an unguided and new location on Great Bear and this Nunavut fishing to plan for as well, it was all some huge country to prepare for. And there was little help. So yes, to see it but also fish it all really well IMO for first time trips, it was exciting then and just great memories now. The original draft was cut to shreds when I asked my wife to proof-read. This story actually began with a full paragraph of a very graphic and tragic scene that will always be scarred into mind now. It went deep and I felt it sucked readers right in fast with just the first few words. It also finished the story with an outcome of relief but also, sadness, tears and some hope. If BassAddict above thinks this a "masterpiece" (thanks Paul) then I kinda wish people got to read it when I thought it was, because so much more of the "Child" referred to in the title had to be removed for professional reasons. There have been "glimpses" every time that unfortunately I want to share but have to leave out of these types of reports. Was a cigarette smoking, bass playing, "skatenerd" punk too as a teen. And so the jump, the halfpipe beside the basketball court, and kids being out and about doing kid stuff was great to view from a high perched apartment window and balcony above. The ocean in the background too... it all makes for good inspiration to travel and see such things through the work I do. Can't help but share Rick, there's just so much to find cool about these places. Thanks for the kind words as well bud. "I'm not even peeking. I will save it for a long cold November afternoon after my sinus surgery to brighten my day. I might have to peek at that Neon colored Salmonid. What the??? Photoshop? Nope, I well know of your talents. I look forward to it Mr. Bunker." Sinus surgery! UGH!!! Cringe John, cringe. That's right up there with eyes, testicles and the continual sawing and hammering during hip and knee replacements of surgeries I have watched that make me wanna pass out. Good luck. Please enjoy the reads in recovery. Thanks for reading guys. Thanks OFC too.
  14. The short version or the long? To summarize here, I spent a few weeks in Nunavut this August working in an awesome little place named Taloyoak. This tundra town in the Kitikmeot region is Canada’s furthest north settlement on our mainland. Rugged and very remote, here Arctic life and culture rule. Lucky to have free time and a fishing pole, on some days off I was able to search and find char, lake trout, caribou and more while out on the beautiful barren lands. A full story with many outdoor and fish pictures is posted at my own website if looking to view. Link below... http://bunksoutdoorangle.com/a-nunavut-nomad-ii-taloyoaks-caribou-char-child/ Here’s just a few pics of that recent experience north... Thanks for reading. Bunk. Here’s just a few pics of that recent experience north.
  15. Tying is a great way to pass those winter months. Quite an enjoyable past-time Brian. Nice score dood! One thing of note, the "Head Cement" truly is head cement. It's old school laquer and it will make ya dizzy for days and blur your vision. If you're into that cool, but if you're not, remember to tie in a well ventilated area.
  16. Reminded me of a return from Hearst to Moose Factory. Friend and pilot John flew us nearly the whole stretch low over the Missinaibi and Moose Rivers. Hell's Gate, ThunderHouse, Moose River Crossing, etc., it was a joy to see those places up close and personal without a week long canoe trip attached.
  17. Very sad Cliff, your touching words. My condolences.
  18. Can you send him 2000 kilometers this way Rick. Driveway here could use a little touch-up. Sounds like a great young lad. But really, aren't most when they're after our daughters....? Keep a watchful eye. lol.
  19. Quite a cool read Mike! Love the Larry for tuning into the precision troll game as the river is suited well for that. Big fish to be had trolling too. But this is great to read and great for you man, because it is an awesome fish, it is your evolution and it kinda inspires me personally to expand and experiment more on the Larry as well. Congrats on that biggun!
  20. Knew the fishing would be great and you'd do well. Good to see ya back pounding water. Slave is a beast for lakers and pike... likely the best lake on earth for big fish of that one-two combo. It was good to see ya too, couldn't believe it's been 10 years. Talston looks to be something amazing. Agree with Dave too, have heard great things about early season at Trout Rock. Probably only Spring Bay and some other spots on Athabasca could touch these two fisheries for size and numbers, and Midnight Sun in the Yukon for behemoth fish too. Nipigon however could compete. Solid report dood! Anyhow... lets getchya a muskie next.
  21. Yes, it is weird. That's fishing and a fish that grows on ya BIG time... but plenty of us don't have those years of it you do. Well, gotta head out muskie fishing now... and tomorrow.
  22. 10th Anniversary Friday. Thanks for reminding Terry.
  23. Dock spider scare, memories and ghost, northern lights, birthdays and family time, and plenty adventure for fish... all of it great and the white sunglasses make it even better. You do find yourself in some wonderful Ontario gems quite often Chris, keep going and keep the reports coming. Excellent pics in this one too, like those swirly fire lights.
