  1. Wow, I've driven past a million times and never realized it was more than a back-shed bait shop. Looks like really nice store, I'll have to make a point of stopping by.
  2. In talking to a few people that have been out on Chemong, I've heard anywhere from 6" to 8" where the ice has been established for awhile. There was still open water in places just a week ago, that ice is probably no more than 2". We were gonna give it a go yesterday at one spot on Chemong, but the crusty and slushy surface kept us ashore. Just off my shore on Buckhorn, I drilled through 6" on Saturday and I'm trying to establish an ice rink, keeping in mind that I'm located in a fairly sheltered & shallow bay that has an ice cover for at least three weeks now. Really cold temps forecasted the next two nights (<-20C) should build an inch or two. I better get shovelling and flooding.
  3. Drilled 6" in front of my place yesterday. Might give Chemong, close to shore, a fish today.
  4. You are mistaken...the teachers pension plan sold all their shares to Rogers and Bell a few weeks ago for $1.3 billion. Even the "Great One" doesn't have that kinda scratch...
  5. But what about just having a beer or two, not to the point of impairment? So the police have the power to enter my property and give me a ticket for having a beer while I work on my vehicle on my own driveway or on my boat tied to my own dock? When did Ontario become a police state?
  6. It would surprise me if that was an offence as well. I do it all the time fishing from the dock, sometimes I sit on the rear pedestal seat in my boat. How is that illegal?
  7. You mean it isn't? Why not?
  8. A ticket for violation of the Liquor License Act will have no bearing on entry to the country. The Act is provincial legislation no different than the Highway Traffic Act and a speeding ticket. As long as you, the operator, has not been drinking beyond impairment, there would be no criminal charges that could affect entry. Simply a monetary fine and probable confiscation of the offending alcohol. That being said, if it's your boat and you don't want any booze aboard, you should be telling your "buddy" to stay ashore.
  9. You have to ask Santa. ($89.99 at Gagnon's, doorcrasher on Dec 1)
  10. Having used my pop-up for a couple years, I would recommend pegging the corners every time and not bother with the snow on the bottom flaps at all. A cordless drill with a long 1/4" bit to pre-drill and the pegs go in in seconds, with all four corners secure there shouldn't be any issue with light and it keeps your hut nice and square. Packing snow around the bottom only causes the material to freeze to the ice if you stay in one spot for any length of time. I chased my tumbling hut down the lake one time when I first got it, on not that windy of a day. Ever since I use the anchors. On even a moderately windy day, I'll peg the centre hub or two on the windy side. It doesn't take much of a gust to pop the side in on you.
  11. If the Ministry really wanted to do something, rather than just the appearance of doing something (like most government legislation), they would order those minnows destroyed. It's not as if the virus is waiting for the new year...
  12. 2" thick in front of my place on Buckhorn yesterday, I could walk on it...but didn't like the creaking and cracking noises the ice made. If we get some cold nights, might make it out before the new year afterall...on foot anyways.
  13. I think for something to be considered a "pet", you need to be able to actually "pet" it. I'm sorry for your loss, but it really is just a bluegill with teeth.
  14. I found the animation to be creepy, I don't know why, just creepy.
  15. I guess Team 6 was a misnomer, Kickin Bass...where's your bass?
  16. Not to be picky...but doesn't the 30" walleye from Team 8 beat the 29" from Team 1. I'm assuming the highlighted fish are the species champ. I see Team 1 is the only one who filled every category, obviously the key to victory.
  17. Are we showin off dogs again? Our dearly departed Bear, one of my favourie pics: ...and of course our newest addition Moosy, this was last year at about 2 1/2 months:
  18. Looks like a great hut, lotsa room inside which is nice. I was just curious, do most huts have an insulated floor?
  19. Repeatedly referred to as "kids" and "youngsters"...they're 20 years old for gods sake.
  20. I like to think of it as being efficient...
  21. Sandra's birthday is the 24th of December. I proposed last Christmas Eve and killed three birds with one stone.
  22. That's where the market will be, besides a few football & basketball players with too much money, theme parks and beach resorts for short term rentals.
