  1. Cool thread. My lund wc-12 w/ 2008 Merc 15hp 2stroke will do 24-25 mph by myself (which is downright haywire in a 12 footer solo) and 18-20 mph with 2 guys and gear.
  2. I remember seeing one caught while ice fishing perch off Willow Beach years ago, but I've never heard of people targeting them on simcoe.
  3. Long haul? Just bait your holes with chunks of dead bait close to dark. Typically they will come out just after the walleye bite has subsided right after dusk. They are like Lakers, you'll catch them anywhere and everywhere and are very aggressive during the winter. No idea where you live, but Nipissing and the Ottawa river are two definite productive bodies of water.
  4. That's a productive outing...do you only fish from a yak?
  5. Good god, how do you sleep? We've been seeing some nice aurora borealis here as well, but obviously nothing as incredible as that!
  6. Callander not so much, but the vast majority of the main basin of Nipissing is loaded with schools of massive, delicious perch, plus pike, herring, whitefish, burbot etc. It's pretty uncommon for me to leave the nip in the winter without a nice pile of fish for the pan!
  7. What a mammoth walleye factory!
  8. Our season in my ZEC opens on the 18th, so in a little over a week me and the girlfriend will be able to make a couple day trips in the truck bird-hunting with my 5-week old daughter in the back seat of the truck Also, grouse are open until January 15th in Restigo so the first 3-4 weeks of ice fishing will cross into bird-hunting. Pretty neat!
  9. The lake your family cottage is on would be a great choice for fall musky! Or come up here on the Ottawa riv. Rivers don't turnover and the fishing can be dynamite in October...especially the burbot
  10. They seem to be spreading all over the place last few years, likely from people trailering around and not cleaning their gear off
  11. Erik Luzak is a well known guide in the Kawarthas that will definitely put you onto fish. I think a couple members here even went out with him on the water and put tons of fish in the boat!
  12. I can tell you were still vibrating with excitement when you typed out this report lol! awesome report man
  13. Those big pike pictures say it all...cold water = big pike
  14. Nice! Looks like you stayed at the Canadian the night before. That's just down the road from my place. It's a beautiful area for sure!
  15. What an amazing time that must have been. Thanks for the great read yet again, Mike. I'm White River-bound tomorrow, so that got me more than a little excited lol!
  16. Nipissing is still full of walleye, wont take ten years for 14" fish to reach 18"
  17. Those are huuuuuge dude. Wish we had largies up in Temis
  18. That's impressive. That's quite the hobby to take on yourself.
  19. Chris - We're Wawa-bound Friday!
  20. Awesome Chris! Was looking forward to this report. Would love to make it there sometime, mostly for the recreational lawn tractor riding...
  21. Looks like every condescending steelheaders wet dream!
  22. Mid September in Cochrane...better bring your swim trunks and your winter parka lol
  23. The lakers around here have the same red tailing edge on the fins. Gorgeous fish
