  1. Stocked lakers are killer right before ice up!
  2. Be careful pulling the 60 behind the 4wheeler. They are made of much thinner plastic than the 75. At the very least put runners on it like the 75's have. I cracked the crap outta my 60 in one season pulling it behind the sled
  3. I used to slide my snowtrek 60 on a tow bar up beside my sled in the back of the truck with no issues. I also bought the 75 and I don't forsee it being much tougher to get it in there, might just have to scooch the sled over a bit more to one side
  4. Last time I had moose ground I made burgers. Absolutely fantastic 70/30 moose with some ground pork
  5. In case you were planning on consuming or playing with some of the local critters! http://m.thespec.com/news-story/6160511-raccoon-in-hamilton-tests-positive-for-rabies
  6. Walleye does not close in the fall in zone 11, Nick, so as soon as you can get out there the better. (Nipissing being the exception of course)
  7. Small lakes locked up last week with a couple cold nights, but looking at the forecast there won't be safe for another 2 weeks I bet. Brutal December so far. BUT, there will definitely be safe ice by then around here. You could look into renting a hut on Nosbonsing, it usually fishes well early season. I don't imagine a rental being very pricey there. It's a shallow lake that gets good ice early. Also, look into renting an ice bungalow on Rabbit Lake thru Gramps bait and tackle on hwy 11. Walleye and apparently good whitefish fishing.
  8. I had grabbers on my old Sierra. Really great tire and a much better price. Not sure you get as much life out of them as the BFG's though.
  9. 275 k02's would look sharp. Look into Bilstein 5100 front struts. They are adjustable and give you up to 2" of front lift without spacers, so your ride quality actually improves and don't lose suspension travel.
  10. My '13 Sierra averaged 17-18 mpg on a tank with street tires and stock ride height. I have 2" of lift front and rear, 33" duratracs, and yanked out that stupid air dam. I average 13.5-14 mpg now, but I don't have to worry about bottoming out and blowing out tires like before. If you level the front end of your truck more than 2", make sure you get a differential drop, or else you can say goodbye to your CV's and balljoints in no time!
  11. The new fullsizes pretty well all get good mileage because they put those ridiculous air dams on the front end and baby tires, giving it the ground clearance of a compact car. Once you get it set up to be somewhat useful offroad that all goes out the window.
  12. Cool! never explored his music outside of Genesis, looks like he's released quite a bit of stuff in the past few years that seems to get really good reviews. I'll have to check it out
  13. First generation of Ford truck I can actually say I like the look of. I would also stick with the v8, especially now with the better performance numbers this gen of trucks have.
  14. Nice fish. Haven't tried the Cask no. 16 but I've always been partial to regular Crown myself
  15. 4,400 kms in 8 years, you're good for another 20 on that machine!
  16. Screw swimbaits, drop a 4-5" minnow down there!
  17. Great job! Ever try jigging fish out of those schools?
  18. You lucky dog. Were still probably two weeks off at the rate were going. Brutal start to winter!
  19. Thanks for that. Guys who have the lakers dialed in on simcoe are spoiled for big fish.
  20. Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, this song in particular...
  21. I have used both Krown and Rust Check, and I would very much recommend Krown in terms of quality of product, application and price. Krown was cheaper, faster, application was more thorough (even cleaned up my engine bay, made it look brand new!) and I was able to watch them do the deed while I had a coffee. Surface frame rust on an 08 is nothing to worry about, surprised you didn't get any sooner considering you haven't got it sprayed yet, but I would definitely start this year.
  22. You did Edit: Manitou beat me to the punch lol
  23. Link worked fine for me... I walked on 5" thick ice identical to that last year on December 8th. Pike fishing on a crystal clear lake and the ice was so loud it sounded like thunder cracking right next to you every 25-30 seconds. That was my excuse for not catching anything
  24. Worry about mixed gas? Mix a 5 gallon jerry can once or twice and you're good for the year. I'm not gonna rely on a cordless battery when I'm drilling thru 25-30" of ice in -30. As for the electrics...they seem to be getting rave reviews from lots of people that live in areas with many months of 2-4' of ice, but they're no cheaper and not much lighter than a 2stroker gas auger. I'd feel better about troubleshooting a small 2stroker than a battery powered engine on the ice.
