  1. lake O rainbows are delicious....and have you seen lake O's water? its crystal clear....ya the lake is full of mercury and lead but that doesnt effect the taste. Would you eat a big pike out of a small pond? helllll no.
  2. my intent was to not venture far off the island on the outside. that is, if it freezes up and isnt an ice flow. They break the channels between the harbour and the island for the ferries to run, but the south west side of the island should be untouched. Once again, this is all very hypothetical and I dont plan on being the first person out there.
  3. more of an album for me than one particular song. Although sadly TLDR my buddy is being forced to go back to australia so this tradition will be dead G-Funk Classics....best theme music for G-funk fishing And then when im bass fishing with the boys its definitely Deuces are Wild by Aerosmith
  4. brought the draft lottery being rigged up earlier and people didnt have any palet for it. Remember when pittsburgh got crosby? A historic franchise thats glory days had past, Lemeiux on his way out, nothing for the team to hold on to....then oh crosby comes around and pittsburgh has its new lemeiux its rigged, the NHL is a business, they will put players where it makes the most financial sense. Mcdavid will go to a team that needs financial help *cough* Carolina *cough* the teams about to fold, yet theyve won a cup...mcdavid arrives and all is well. Dont fool yourself. If Carolina doesnt get mcdavid they will be gone very soon. Unless the deal for them to go to Las Vegas is already in the books, then look to Arizona.
  5. hard to do, no one can skate with him
  6. lol seems everyone thinks im crazy for even considering it. I will tell you right now I wouldnt even consider it until this next cold snap moves through and even then I would be waiting probably until I hear of other people venturing out. Once again, Float suit, picks, rope, and dry clothes left on shore would all be a necessity.
  7. photo is a few days old, Ketch, i am seeing that it says that there is 30cm of ice already forming around the island, lets see what happens with this cold snap.
  8. I have been keeping a very close eye on the ice charts, and it looks like we may be in for a once in a lifetime event...lake Ontario might actually freeze entirely over. The current chart today shows that only a small section in the middle of the lake remains entirely open, with thin lake ice making up the majority of the lake. With the upcoming cold snap it wouldnt take much to solidify things up and produce some medium lake ice on big O What does this mean? for me it means that I might just have to consider trecking to the open side of toronto island for a jig. Float suit, ropes and picks would be a must, but how many out here would take advantage or a definitive once in a life time opportunity to hard water infront of the Toronto skyline. Anyone here ice fished for chinnys?
  9. fixed
  10. I have had one of these scammers try to target me after posting an item on kijiji. It was the classic pay a deposit for an item which you ship to them while giving your bank info. It was awesome to lead them on for about 50 emails while sitting at work until completely called them every single name in the book and insulted their mother pretty bad as well.
  11. i honestly have no clue how you guys fish without sleds, i guess simcoe etc get blown off a lot more. In my area you wouldnt want to walk more than a kilometer before youd pass out from exhaustion from crawling through knee deep snow. My brother walked half way out to our spot on Saturday while waiting for my dad to come pick him up on the sled, he took a nice nap shortly after.
  12. im a total victim of the multi boat problem...I am currently rejigging my 14 foot tinner for bass and walleye action, it will get the job done locally, however when its time to travel further distance or hit the big water the big boats are a necessity. Of course a big old boston whaler would be pretty sweet the handle all of the things you could throw at it, however nothing will beat a small tinner with a trolling motor for sneaking into those rocky sketchy spots. I drift onto rocks all the time and theres not even a mark on the boat.
  13. Lake O might just freeze up! i couldnt imagine setting up the hut out in front of the city skyline, would be so cool

  14. It really never occured to me that this could have happened just as easily out on the trails 4 hours from the cottage in the middle of the bush...Or even worse, while i was alone out on the lake with a stuck sled...could make for an interesting wait. Sometimes it takes learning the hard way to realize that when lifting a snowmobile its no different than lifting a box or gas cans etc etc.
  15. forgot to post about this, I am 26 years old so not an old timer and I play hockey 3 times a week and work out so im by no means in bad shape etc. 3 weeks ago i was up at the cottage with pops...after a long day riding we went to load up the sleds on the trailer back at the cottage. Low and behold one of the skis on my sled was one notch too far to the left on the runners so a lift and readjustment to get the door closed was required. Stupid me i reach from outside of the trailer, in across my body and lift the sled...during which i feel a pop/crack My dad looks at me...you hurt yourself didnt you? yup... dislocated my sacroiliac joint and my whole hip was stuck pronated forward completely out...spent the rest of the night on the couch, and the next 2 days in agony...went to physio on monday, nope sorry bud youre muscles are in too much spasm to reset it, keep trying to stretch and get things loosened up a bit. Tuesday massage therapy, accupuncture and a bunch of celebrex Finally wednesday arrives and i go to physio...a few yanks of my leg...doc puts me in a figure four and pushes my knee downwards...POPOPOPOPOPOPOP and my back is back in...2 weeks of physio later and im back to somewhat normal. Moral of the story, dont be an idiot when lifting sleds cause they are bloody heavy and will eff you up.
  16. IMO it should run all weekend. I dont think many people are gonna be taking their kids out on monday with a high of -21...Ill be out Saturday and will hopefully be able to bring the kids out for at least a bit.
  17. multiple sources now confirming the "rebuild approval" from the board of directors....BRING ON THE PAIN!

  19. oddly enough, i find running is a lot like fishing...except for people that have to wear headphones to do it. I personally get into the same trance that I get into while fishing solo.
  20. i live in toronto, people dont get upset by the fact that i fish, they are more in awe of the fact that I do fish and that I would spend time doing it. I think not "enjoying the pass time" and "not agreeing with fishing" are two very different things. My brother will fish for pickerel, but will complain if the bite isnt on the entire time. Other than that he cant really be bothered. For him to get skunked would mean that he would give up and just not fish again for a while. For me when i get skunked it makes me just fish more lol i get really obsessive compulsive with it. at the end of the day most people dont fish because they find it boring, not so much barbaric. I also think peoples perception of hunting is skewed by all of the publicity that game farms get. Personally i am hugely against killing anything that you arent going to eat, this includes fur trapping etc. but thats just my opinion. Eat what you kill
  21. wait...does anyone remember when the leafs made the playoffs in 2012? does anyone remember how the entire downtown core shut down after game 6? oh ya, music is definitely the problem I love how the article references the united centre and the bell centre...who would have thought that crowd noise is determined by the product on the ice and not the music lol. If the leafs were contenders you could play lullabies and it would be roaring in there.
  22. were going on a trip to mexico cause our anniversary is tomorrow. I also got her flowers to be delivered at work and am going to buy us chipotle for dinner, hang out and watch netflix together.
  23. nice move for buffalo IMO Obviously a team looking to build long term while also bringing some exciting hockey to their front line. an ennis kane line would be pretty nifty if i do say so myself.
  24. this photo unreal
