  1. two fish and a 2 dollar tip not a bad day out
  2. This was taken 6? days ago...(side note god i love down imaging, counting individual fish in a ball of bait? yes please)
  3. as far as i was aware, if you commit a traffic violation which causes an accident, you get charged with careless driving at a minimum. There is 0 doubt the guy blew a stop sign, because if he didnt, he wouldnt have hit the bus going that fast. Hence, i think we can all agree that charges will definitely be laid, its just a matter of to what degree. It doesnt matter if theres, black ice, you are driving at night during a blizzard, you are required to drive according to conditions. So even if the sun was right in his eyes causing him to blow a stop sign, he is still guilty of careless driving causing death...if he couldnt see, he was supposed to slow down to a safe speed, thats how the law is written, theres no way around it. I got into an accident 10 years ago where i hit black ice and ended up crashing (i was admittedly inexperienced with driving during a flash freeze) the only reason i didnt get charged is because the person following me was able to confirm that we were driving exactly the speed limit and I didnt hit anyone, i just crashed into the ditch. Had I been speeding or committed any other driving infractions, i was going to be charged. Thats how driving laws work, its like rear ending someone, if you rear end someone you are always at fault because you were not leaving enough space or driving according to conditions.
  4. and just like a yammy two stroke, you put too much corn alcohol in you, it will be harder to start in the morning.
  5. things were very slow last weekend as well, everything is a few weeks behind...we were finding walleye crappie and perch in winter patterns in 25 fow. A few pre spawn bass up shallow...depending on how the weather holds, bass opener might be absolutely insane with fish still on the beds.
  6. depending on the power plant, if the thing is in really good shape and the prop and skeg look good, i think 12 is probably around right. My guess is that the motor is a mercury.
  7. I remember the first time we went fishing for lakers in parry sound and the old man and i were lost with the regs...I had never seen anything like it either. Literally some of the tightest regs in the entire book. The "no fish" border on the imaginary line across the bay. The 0 possession limit and the size restriction during the keeping months...you gotta have the regs totally on lock if you want to fish there.
  8. depending on how you are hooking the bait, Owner Mosquito hooks are my go to for nose hooking anything.
  9. handling 5lb bass can be a handful, IMO you just did him a favor helping him legally releasing them haha
  10. skin cancer is the real deal anywhere doesnt matter south or not. Its the #1 form of cancer in Canada as well. I personally have also started taking sun protection much more seriously. When you spend that much time baking in a boat fishing all summer its a must. I need to do more though, i put sunscreen on everything now, but my hands still get baked...I go full sleeves, hat and buff now though. You pretty much have to.
  11. MNR TIPS Line 1-877-TIPS MNR (1-877-847-7667) Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Offices Crimestoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) Ol you should have called the MNR immediately. The response you got from the cop is friggin ridiculous... A couple years back i was at severn falls and sure enough there was a polish guy blatantly poaching in the heavily marked "no fishing" sanctuary. I called the MNR and we were able to provide them with his description and license plate. You never end up finding out what happens to these folks but maybe a stop by and a freezer check happened on buddy? I am sure if there is an actual CO nearby they would have no problem swinging by.
  12. been following all of these on the gram. Really cool stuff.
  13. if you are really into lowrance, the hook 7 is a good affordable model to look at. HDS might be a bit too complex and out of your price range depending on generation and features youd want.
  14. you can get a humminbird 700 series GPS Sonar with down imaging for like $400 from the US bass boards easily. A lot more reliable then navionics on your phone, plus you will have a really excellent sonar.
  15. Coming from a guy whos fishing gear is almost 100% used...ive had a lot more positive experiences than bad buying used...obviously ive had a couple of issues, but they were nothing that a service didnt fix. How in the hell am i supposed to afford the 1000's of dollars i have spent on gear if I was buying new! i simply cant afford the $600+ it costs to get a set up these days. Dont even get me started on fly fishing...some resident board members have helped me out immensely...Ill tell you right now buying a new Winston Fly rod is a friggin pipe dream for a kid in their 20's. Luckily i somehow manage to own one...im thankful to this day to the guys that have helped me out.
  16. back bays in Pointe Au baril are still iced up. We lost our main ice last thursday, but anywhere that doesnt have a lot of current are still locked. Might be a few more weeks before ice out in sudbury.
  17. The river has a whole pile of 12x12 deadheads...im not sure how they got there but there are about 5 of them that I am aware off that stick kind of out of the water. Mysteriously there are also other ones scattered throughout the area...I have never understood how they go there or what caused them to stick perfectly out of the water like they do.
  18. This is really actually funny you mention this. I went for a stroll through the bush into a shallow bay near my cottage last weekend to try find some spawning pans and sure enough on my walk i found a pretty nice boogie board and a kids life jacket washed up on shore. Both came back with me...so even though I didnt catch a fish i caught a couple of other cool things lol.
  19. gotta love all the deadheads the guys with shacks leave out there! Saw a guy pull his shack off this year, drove off and left 8 1 foot lengths of 2x6 ..perfect for mangling my prop.
  20. if you had both brian and terry were in your boat, youd probably purposely leave the plug out hahaha
  21. like most jobs that dont rely on looks or physical talent...you make more money the harder you work. If Babcock is the highest paid coach in the league, then you know hes also the hardest working.
  22. thats why i cant do it now...i couldnt show everyone where the heck i catch my big bass, especially when people like to eat 14 year old fish. My dad is bloody bad enough as it is. Him and my brother went out to my best honey hole and started keeping the smallies to eat, i had to tell them to bugger off and find their own damn spots then. The agreed that they would stop eating bass so that I would continue to take them fishing and putting them on fish lol
