  1. Panoptix is a total game changer...but is also $2,000 for a base model unit. Big difference between a Helix 5/7 si and a panoptix system. I literally think panoptix is even more valuable for ice fishing...its absolutely insane.
  2. if its not listed there is no regulation concerning the species aside from your standard rules about number of rods used and any bait/hook regulations.
  3. Battle of Ontario Post-season history 2000 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals: Maple Leafs won, 4–2 2001 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals: Maple Leafs won, 4–0 2002 Eastern Conference Semifinals: Maple Leafs won, 4–3 2004 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals: Maple Leafs won, 4–3
  4. not much to be said...my cousin is a billet family for players on the Flin Flon Bombers in the SJHL, the relationship that he builds with the kids is incredible...this tragedy is just devastating far too many people. So very very sad.
  5. speed speed speed...use your strongest asset to win.
  6. they only come out for the playoffs bahd! also who cares if ottawa didnt make it, its not like anyone would be watching anyways lollll
  7. Id drop shot a worm with a 24 inch lead...that way you can use a heavier weight in the current if you are having a hard time getting down, but not spook the hell outta the eyes. Maybe its just me but ive always done better with eyes on worms in the spring and minnows in the fall...maybe its just me?!
  8. whos got their car window flags ready? Its post season time baby!
  9. im sure I am just repeating what everyone else said...I never cared much for si until I really thought about it and started using it.... Traditional sonar and down imaging allows you to see whats going on under your boat...the odd time, ya you may see a fish suspended, but what you are really trying to figure out is what the heck is going on down there....with si you drive down the lake and all of a sudden you can say wow, there is a weed edge 70 feet to the right of the boat...or hey there is a pile of rubble 80 feet to the left of the boat. I think to all of the times that I have been driving down the lake using 2d sonar and i notice some crazy feature or drop off and decide that its probably worth fishing that pile of boulders...and sure enough catch fish...imagine being able to scan 200 feet of the lake all at once. I also totally disagree with sterling...deep water is when Si really shines IMO. cruising along the lake in 30 fow you will see everything around you. I guess "deep" is a relative term, its not going to help you in 200 fow for salmon IMO its totally worth it. Edit...dont overlook down imaging either...This fall I was driving along and notice a pile of what looked to be just garbage/weeds on the bottom in 20 fow, pretty much just a clump of whatever...Ya ok it may be fish? flip to d.i. sure enough there are 20 perfect siloutes of individual perch with a big hook below them, drop shot down...this guy comes up Like most things, its all about how comfortable you get with them. A lot like baits...if you feel good about what you are doing it will work for you. If you are wary of the technology you probably wont use it. My dad has an si unit...he literally had the DI screens shut off because according to him "they are useless" lol
  10. dang just the wrong weekend or I would have given this a go for something to do!
  11. to depress myself i started looking at photos in my phone from this time last year...we broke ice in the tinner and were fishing open water crappies 3 days from now...we are at least 3 weeks away from ice out...possibly longer. On the bright side, the way that the calendar is set up and the really cold spring means that bass season is literally going to be insane this year. Im expected bass to be on the spawn or just barely post spawn on opener.
  12. In the hammer in the 80's carrying around 200 racks without a weapon? you are a mad man. I bet those junkies could smell the fear leaking from your sweat glands lol
  13. sometimes i question the limits on crappie, especially down here where a spot can just get absolutely ruined in a short amount of time. I mean what do we expect if people can take 100 fish home a day every day for an entire winter...somethings gotta give. I guess they are invasive in some lakes?
  14. -16 in pointe au baril with a foot of snow on the ground...anyone down for some crappie ice fishing? lol jesus...if i didnt have to do the brakes on my truck this weekend i know id begrudgingly be out on the ice fishing....
  15. sabres just clinched the rasmus dhaline odds...who wants to bet edmonton gets him lol
  16. do you move around or do you just have one honey hole that produces really well? The are where i fish em them got absolutely pounded for years until everyone stopped fishing cause it went to "crapp" sure enough the population is rebounding, but we only keep a few a season.
  17. bank draft is how I would do it... When i just purchased a boat the guy was keeping it for me for a week until I could come and pick it up. That way he knew he had the money and I knew exactly where he lived and his legal name. I guess nothing is perfect? Could you not agree to go to the bank with him to cash the cheque...heck tow the boat to the bank cash the cheque with him there. Then you both part ways into the sunset.
  18. lmao im gonna have to tell this one to my parents ...how do we not have a joke thread on this forum...this is my favourite one from late..a classic little johnny joke. Little Johnny's next door neighbours had a newborn baby that was born without ears. The neighbor's invited Johnny's family over for dinner and to meet the new baby. Prior to leaving the house Johnny's father pulled Johnny aside and warned him that if he even so mentioned anything about the baby's missing ears that he would get the lickin of a life time. Johnny obliged Upon arriving at the house everyone gathered around to admire the new baby. Johnny piped up and stated "wow what a beatiful little baby, how much did he weigh?" The mother replied "a perfectly healthy 6lbs 14oz" Johnny said, "perfect...and look at his cute little feet, hes so cute isnt he?" The mother once again replied "yes hes our cute little ball of love" Johnny then inquired "he has such beautiful blue eyes, is his vision expected to be ok?" The mother replied, "the doctor thinks he will have 20-20 vision" Johnny blurted "well that's excellent news because if he needed glasses hed be f-ked"
  19. one of those things, you fly your drone near an airport like an idiot...youll get busted. You fly your drone on your own private property and dont be a nuisance no one will bug you. You do what my moron neighbors at the cottage did multiple days last summer...flying your drone 300 meters over the forest and hover over our deck for 10 minutes...next time ill bring out the .22
  20. I do agree that this totally shafts Tampa and Boston...but the leafs? I sure as hell dont want to face pittsburgh first round...I keep hearing leafs fans complaining about their tough match up...you wanna face the defending 2 time stanley cup champions in round 1? Hellllll no! The only team getting the shaft here as the standings currently stand is Tampa...facing the 3rd in the east while being tied for first in the east in the first round is friggin ridiculous. So i feel for them if they are complaining. Regardless you have to beat the best to be the best
  21. probably preaching to the choir, but anyone new to fly fishing...dont cheap out on your fly line. They last a long time and you dont cut them so just make the good initial investment. I bought a POS float line for my 5 wt and it is horrid stuff.
  22. bye bye erik...it will be great watching you on a real hockey team in the near future http://nhl.nbcsports.com/2018/04/02/erik-karlsson-picks-up-puck-after-potential-last-home-game-as-a-senator-video/
  23. lol alfie the only guy to never win anything in his career and have his jersey retired lol
