  1. I have been wearing Tifosi glasses for the past five years. They make a Fototec Polarized lens. I absolutely love them. They change the shade as the sun gets brighter but always seem clear when you look out of them without having to squint. They run about $125.00. There has been times where it is dark out and I am still wearing my glasses without realizing that I don't need them but the polarization is still handy to have.
  2. I was on the Larry last night. Most of the ice is gone. I tried for a couple of hours using husky jerks and got nothing. My girlfriend was jigging for perch at the same time. We didn't get anything. I have a couple of buddies that can catch a pike in a mud puddle I'm sure. They have landed a couple of ten pounders just to rub it in my face. I'm just not used to fishing this early. The spot I wanted to go to was too far for now. It sure did feel good to be back in the boat again
  3. I have the same reel, was my first baitcaster as well. I really like it. When I first started I did get a few nests. Tips I learned were to use a heavier line. I use 50 lbs power pro on my baitcasters. Use a heavier lure, as one too light to learn with will be messy. Press the button to release the brake and use your thumb to control the spool. Watch out for your finger slipping to hit the handle and brake mid cast....Also don't try and through your lure out hard. A gentle sweep will be much smoother. you will gradually get distance but don't focous on that right now. Have fun and a pick is your friend.
  4. I do it all the time. I use a palamar knot. I've never had a problem.
  5. As far as I know and remember from my hunting course and just finished reading my girlfriends book as she is taking the course right now. The red dot is NO TRESPASSING not no hunting. As for the P3TA ( I know I didn't use a 3 but don't you think they have caught onto and look for that by now as well?) neighbor. Don't let your buddy stoop to his level. Have him record everything. Write it in a book and date it as to what the neighbor is doing. The neighbor is harassing it sounds like and that is illegal and he can/should be charged. With a book of everything going on will only help in the case for your buddy. He is doing nothing wrong and should continue to hunt in peace and happiness as that is what it is all about. Just be ethical about it and don't do it right in the neighbors face. If your buddy cannot do anything about the neighbor taking his picture your buddy should return the favour and start taking pictures back. Sounds like the two of them should get together for some beers (not too many though) and talk about what they are doing and their lifestyles. Sadly this usually never ends happy though.
  6. Ok now that you have my attention, where are these reels on sale? Just checked out their site and saw them at regular price? These are a great reel and I would scoop a couple at that price?
  7. Made it past 60. Realised I am only half way through.... Going to play another one now. Thanks
  8. Got to Bridget and had to take a break. Spent way too much time on this game.
  9. I had this happen to me years ago when debit was new. First transaction not complete second was. Luckily I kept both receipts as I did get charged twice. Took it to the bank and they fixed it right away because I had the proof. In my store I always give the declined receipt to the customer and a copy for me, even if they insist on trying ten times . I have also seen this happen with credit cards not just debit. I have also had a credit card company charge a customer twice even though I only swept once. All of these situations have been fixed in a timely manor. Not sure why yours is taking so long? Maybe time for a new money institute?
  10. I don't particularly watch too much hockey, but HOLY COW what a game last night. As much as I am rooting for Canada, the Swiss were amazing. From the defence to the goal keeping they made for a fantastic game. It's nice to see competition instead of a slaughter. I was on the edge of my seat all night watching that game last night.
  11. Hey Mike, Not too sure what the inland lakes are like right now. The Larry however is almost open. It has never been this open since I moved here 8 years ago. There's even a skating rink right on shore that is not safe because of the open water. This area has been very warm and the lakes have not froze that well. If you have a float suit and spikes wear them. Be careful and have fun.
  12. I've been getting telemarketers on my cell for about six months now. At least most of them come up as 000000000 numbers or such so I just ignore them.
  13. You cannot go wrong with a Compre. I really enjoy using the ones I have. I did have a warrenty issue once where I had to send the rod back to Shimano, it cost me $20.00 to ship, and was really quick turn around. The beauty of small shops is that they can get you what you want. I use a MH 7'2" for tubes and senkos paired with a Stradic 2500 backed with 20lbs Power Pro line. I have the drop shot rod, but do not drop shot with it, I just really like the feel of the rod with not a lot of handle on it. I also use this rod in the spring when I throw Husky jerks for pike.
  14. If it is a clean lake I would go for aluminum. I have one lake here that I would only use a glass boat on though. It's called stump lake. You cannot go more than 100 feet without hitting one. With the glass boat it flexes over the stump and has a flatter bottom for stability. We use a 48 lbs trolling motor to push it.
  15. I really like my Browning clothing. Soft like pj's warm and very waterproof. Anyone else I know that has their clothing is very happy with it as well. I have a River's West Jacket right now. It's alright. Not as warm as I thought so I have to double up making it very bulky. A new Browning is on the wish list, just have to wear out this one first....
  16. While I missed out on this (only watch FOF on you tube), I do have a couple of Dave's t-shirts . What I really want to know is how do I get a Dave Mercer bobble head?
  17. Same here, I have them on my Shorelander trailer. Have never had any problems with them. even when I use them in the freezing weather when duck hunting. They are so easy to use. Loading the boat takes no time at all and there is no untangling of straps like I used to do with my old boat and trailer.
  18. I have that same ladder Dawg. I use it all the time for swimming and such. Never had to use it in an emergency yet, hope I never have to. My boat is very similar to yours as far as transom hight and thickness. No problem at all instaling it. I use a double sided velcro to hold it up. That is going to be changed out this spring though. It holds great, but from the water and in a panic it would be too hard to undo. Going to use a simple bungee cord and replace it every now and then. They are cheap enough and easier to get undone in an emergency. All in all, I am glad I have it and really like it. I'm sure you will as well. Makes skinny dipping much easier!
  19. Not sure if I should be embarrassed or proud, I actually have one of these? My aunt gave it to me for my birthday one year.
  20. Ah nuts, I missed it, my computer was down. I thought it was every Tuesday though? At least it is at Zellers
  21. Hee Hee too funny. I got a kick out of that watching Mercer last night. Was really surprised to turn it on and see my buddy Steve from out west doing the avalanche part. Brought back a lot of memories. I could name almost every peak around them that they were blowing up. I also like the liberal GPS commercial. Don't know where you are going with confidence!!!
  22. I was just thinking yesterday if you did get this and how you liked it? I second the Ridgeline. I am on my second one now (lease). I cannot say enough about this vehicle. It drives like a car, storage of a van, never let me down. It pulls and stops my boat no problem (around 2500-3000 lbs package). Not too sure of the milage, but I know it is better than what my Astro was. The only thing it is missing is a Dave Mercer bobble head!!!!
  23. That's a perfect gift for her to hold onto her "Shake Weight" https://www.shakeweight.com/ver4/index.asp
  24. Had it passed on to a new runner right in front of my store on Monday. Outfits look great as do the torch. GO CANADA!!!!
  25. I can tell you right now that I am not a business that is happy to see this. It's going to makes things go from bad to worse really fast.
