  1. If your really stuck on buying an alternator from a dealer, I would buy the part at the dealer and have another independent shop install it. Will save you a few bucks as dealer labour rate is always higher. If it is easily accessed, give it a shot yourself. Not much involved. I'm willing to bet there is tutorials online on how to do it. On a side note, I have had good luck with CT alternators. Some come with 5 years warranty and they give you 60-75 dollars (I forget) for your old one.
  2. If its the guy that was killed near Red Hill, I herd he was 21. Very sad indeed.
  3. I don't see it making enough money to be worthwhile.
  4. Not sure if the pic is real or not, but it gave me a chuckle.
  5. If your interested in the Ariens go to Home Depot on saturday and tell them rona has 15% off one item and see if they will price match it. Would be a pretty good savings.
  6. Have at look at this thread: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/water-softener-chloro-soft-unit-1-100-taxes-installed-960323/ The guy is based out of Hamilton and charges 1400$ for a water softener and reverse osmosis system, installed. You will not beat the price and if you read through the thread you will see very positive feedback from individuals who used his services.
  7. Priceless moment, one to last a lifetime
  8. Twocoda: If I have bats in the attic that were originally put up there (in 1975) should I spray the cellulose on top of them, or should I dispose of the bats as they have probably lost majority of their R value, given their age. They are the 2-3" thick bats that have the black tarp paper attached to the yellowish insulation. smally21: how thick did he blow it in at that price? Is your attic roughly the same size as your fathers? Did he ensure he did not block the vents? I'm thinking about doing cellulose as they say its the 2nd best insulator, first being spray foam. The cost is about the same as fiberglass insulation too. For those interested in doing it themselves, I recently went to Home Depot and they no longer give you the machine for free to blow in the insulation, regardless of how many bags you buy. Its about 75ish for the full day and like 40 for half day. I would imagine if you prep well you would only need it for half the day.
  9. As mentioned above you definetely need to create some kind of slope. Even with the slope, in cold weather, you will still need to remove the snow off the cover. If your not storing the boat at home, be sure to check on it after every snow storm.
  10. Nice eyes. You have to fillet them though .
  11. With my 40hp Evinrude I find if I lower it all the way it leaks water. Then when it stops leaking I raise it up all the way and lower it again, and sure enough more water comes out. Might be worth a shot.
  12. Nice pumpkins. Sorry to hear they got smashed. I was weiry myself leaving them outside last night as child hood memories came to mind . Not that i'm complaining, but it seems "devils night" has come and passed. In my younger days, cops would stop all groups of kids walking the streets on Oct 30th and search them for eggs .
  13. Those days have come and gone. I'm hearing models 2005+ use plastic components near the cam. My mechanic has done full engine swaps on tdi's with only 150k because of this. I'm hearing the new models really fell off with interior quality as well, but they did also lower the price on them. Something has to give I guess. I am worried about which car will replace my 98 tdi when it dies one day (330 000km and running strong). Those driving BMW's and Mercedes are not in the clear either. Herd of a guy replacing 5 fuel pumps on the new BMW 335 when it only had 30k on it. Not to impressive for a 80k car. Reality is, everything you see around you is designed to break down much faster than it once did. Times have changed!
  14. PM F7Firecat, he does this kind of stuff for a living and I'm sure he will have a feasible solution for you. If you want my opinion, pulyurethane injection will fix your problem at the cheapest cost. This is how they fix foundation cracks in new homes. Judging by the pic you attached, it looks like water pools under your mat because the grading is not adequate. I would be tearing that up next year or asap and properly grading the area. If you leave it until next year you should be shoveling all snow away from the area this winter.
  15. Orange signs represent construction zones/temporary conditions and full red background is only used on stop signs. A feasible solution would be to add that "new" sign to the existing speed limit sign for a few months until motorists become familiar with the speed limit change. For those concerned, write a letter to whomever is in jurisdiction of the roadway, I bet they will erect the "new" tab signs.
  16. After all those years of living at home and being forced by the old man to prep the fire, I sure as hell am glad my new to me home has a gas fireplace. To me, the effort required for a wood burning fireplace is not worth it. I'd rather flick a switch. And ya I still have to help every year to put away 4 cords of wood at my dads place. Overall, yes a wood burning fire is more pleasant, but not worth the effort IMO.
  17. As soon as I herd them say "the cage is made of high grade aluminum" I knew something was not right about the way it was built. For those that didn't see, the great white bent its way into the cage.
  18. I have owned mine for about 5 years and it has been good. I have really put it through its paces when snagged using 10lb Power Pro. Sometimes I wondered myself how I didn't break it . Thanks for the heads up though, I will keep it in mind for future purchases.
  19. They can restrict any posting they want to internal applicants only, union has no say. When they post public, they are really looking for the best candidate due to existing staff not meeting their needs. Sometimes they don't find that successfull candidate externally and hire internal, but sometimes they do hire external as well.
  20. It's true, its ridiculous how bad it smells. I pray people don't stand beside me at the urinal at work some days. They'd be thinking what the hell is wrong with this guy. Little do they know im on a mission to well being
  21. What exactly are you doing to your basement?
