  1. There could be a future in this if you make the offer to the right audience?
  2. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/searchresults.html#search=products&searchtext=Z%20Man&opt_page=4&opt_sort=alphaAtoZ&opt_perpage=20 http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Z_Man_Mag_Swimz_3pk/descpage-ZMANMGS.html Not sure what you are looking for, but zman's website doesn't have Canadian stores as an option in it's dealer locator.
  3. Actually I spent a lot of time using small baits like 1/8 ounce hair jigs, the reason for that rod and this reel? http://i60.tinypic.com/rct4ig.jpg I could put 17 - 20 pound test mono line on it and still cast very well with a small, light lure, the heavier rod gave me the power to pull bigger fish out of junk.
  4. Cool! keep more carp!
  5. Falcon rods used to make a flipping stick for spinning reels, 7' 6" telescopic, spinning rod handle and eyes, probably based on a casting rod blank. The one I have is rated for like 3/8 to 1 1/2 ounce lures, a good rod for fishing slop.
  6. Good question, it seems to me that a spot check would require them to wave you in to be checked? The only place I have seen C/Os doing checks here is right at a boat ramp or marina. They had checks for trucks here on highways, but the signage was different, all trucks must enter the rest area or weigh station, and they had a chase vehicle standing by in case you didn't. Maybe those guys getting checked alongside the road blew off a wave in?
  7. As I recall the only spoon type lure I have caught a L/M on is a Johnson Silver Minnow.
  8. http://www.lre.usace.army.mil/Missions/Great-Lakes-Information/Great-Lakes-Water-Levels/Water-Level-Forecast/Weekly-Great-Lakes-Water-Levels/ I can think of a few areas off of Lake Erie where I would have liked to see a couple of extra feet of water.
  9. Just some things to consider, there will be a bit of a learning curve with a baitcaster if you haven't used them often, don't get frustrated or give up too quickly. Line has evolved, it used to be pretty weird to put 20# mono line on your average spinning reel and expect it to preform well, super lines? For light lures 1/4 ounce and under, I would still roll with spinning gear?
  10. http://www.reeseprod.com/products/weight-distribution/round-bar-wd/xDqAUvNOHeKF!ZRNNWEMq|1ysdr6LjWs I don't know if adding air bags to your rear suspension will help.
  11. Just from the pictures? Your trailer axle isn't positioned for you to put a 700 pound load on the front deck, all that weight is going on your truck.
  12. A very nice job on that reel! The lapped brass bearings are old school, prior to the 1960's few reels had ball bearings.
  13. http://www.sheddaquarium.org/nextgen/dawn-helps.html They use Dawn to clean wildlife affected by oil spills.
  14. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/story/201604090006 This story is from last year, back in the early 60's we used to catch the perch fishing on Lake Erie.
  15. http://www.ontarioparks.com/park/sturgeonbay https://www.ontarioparks.com/park-locator Really no idea of how rustic or remote of a place you are looking for, but your provincial parks might be a starting point for ideas?
  16. I can believe that, even the bigger carp I have caught would have been more of a mystery if I hadn't been in a boat to follow my line.
  17. LOL, only one tackle box? you can fill a lot of them with lures that don't work especially well!
  18. LOL, great! Now my son wants to help you catch minnows!
  19. http://www.news-herald.com/article/HR/20130626/NEWS/306269945 They are in Lake Erie but very rare to see one or even hear of one being caught, that article is from 2013.
  20. Cool! they look bigger than the carp here! LOL

  22. " how to best use your time " LOL catch fish! If you have spots that you have caught decent pike at before this time of year they may be good starting points. A milk run, have a plan to reduce running time, lures in the water will catch more than lures in the boat traveling. Mix in something different as a lure, if most are throwing spoons or in line spinners? Try a crankbait or safety pin style spinner bait. If you're fishing shoreline weeds or structure? make a cast to the wrong side of the boat once in a while, you may find a fish moving in or holding. You're fishing with a partner, throw different lures, and don't be slow to change if one lure is catching fish and another is not. Try to cover more than one depth with your partner, no point in both of you beating the same water column. A seemingly slight difference in lure style or color and make a difference for bass, not sure if that applies to pike.
