  1. so any suggestions on how to catch what's down there
  2. what about trolling the worm harness with that work
  3. We have a cottage on six mile lake and this past weekend I was playing around with a down rigger in some open water. I kept marking fish in the 40 - 70 foot range. I am thinking they are walleyes but am not sure. Anyone have any ideas on what they are and how to catch em. I do have a down rigger so getting to that depth is not a problem. Also I don't think they are lakers as I have not heard of anyone catching lakers on SML. RAO
  4. Had this happen to me more times than I care to talk about. It is even worse now when they zoom past you where you are fishing within casting range and then give a wave hello. A friend of mine and I we talked about this a couple of times and it seems like common sense and etiquette is out the window.
  5. Dan668, I have two young boys 10 and 12 who both like fishing. I am targeting anything that bites ie pike bass walleye. I am also thinking of spending my fishing time on the Stormy lake side. I will also be trailering a 14' aluminum boat.
  6. A couple of weeks ago I created a post about where to camp with my wife and young boys. After looking at your replies and doing some research I have settled on Restoule Provincial Park. The idea is to do a bit of everything. Fishing, boating, biking and swimming. Any pointers on how to fish Restoule or Stormy and the connecting lakes? Not looking for specific spots just something to point me in the right direction. Also does any one know how the bike trails are there. Thanks RAO
  7. I live in the Barrie area so I was thinking of something closer to home than Shinning Tree area
  8. So a couple of years ago I purchased a truck camper that slides into the back of a pickup truck. The idea is that I can take my two boys and wife fishing with little fuss and a bit more comfortable than a tent. I also have a 14' aluminium boat that I pull behind the truck. What I am wondering about is some places to go. I am not looking for specifics but some place that has a reasonable launch and place to set up camp. I have for years gone to the Shining Tree area but was looking for something closer to home. Can anyone help out. Thanks, RAO

    Algonquin

Well me and my friend got back from Algonquin yesterday. It was very wet Saturday and Sunday as it rained a fair bit of the time. On Saturday and Sunday we caught absolutly nothing - not even a bite. Wonder if the rain had something to do with things, as well as the cold weather as the fish were not in the shallows like I was hoping. Friday was a different story as we managed 3 lake trout. I caught my first two ever! Thanks to all who made suggestions. RAO

    Algonquin

That is what I am afraid of. Also places to launch. If anyone is going up this weekend let me know how things are.
  11. I am heading up to Algonquin next weekend. Anyone heard how the water levels are there. With all the rain I am wondering if they will limit/affect some of the lake for fishing. Thanks

    Newbie

Hey everyone thanks for the greetings. Chuck yes I have a canoe. If portaging it would have to be a short trip as we are staying along the Hwy 60 corridor.

    Newbie

Hey Guys I am new to the board. Looks like a great site. I am looking for a bit of help. I have a trip booked for May 13 at Algonquin park. This is my first real try at fishing in the park. I will be camping along the HWY 60 corridor (MEW Lake) and was looking for some advice as to fishing at this time of year. I was thinking of trying Bruce Lake/Provoking Lake and maybe even Brewer Lake. Anyone ever fished them and any tips on how to catch 'em. Thanks, RAO
