  1. I was at home (in Barrie) with the chicken pox that day. My strongest memory is the green sky before the thunder storm. The tornado itself was on the other side of the city from where we lived, didn't even know about it until the power came back on later that night.
  2. Heading up tomorrow afternoon for 3 days of fishing with my brother. Hope to have some new fish photos when I get back. Here are a few from past years that I could find on the computer, many/most have been posted here before. 2009 2008 And one from about 30 years ago from the area (I'm the bigger one in this photo):
  3. Nice Ben, lots of writin' too. Good on ya!
  4. Please put yours forth then.
  5. Not sure where this post is going but keep in mind that the last 50 odd years of successful fire suppression is, and will, lead to bigger and more damaging fires going forward. Fires are a natural part of a forest's life and we have done too much to prevent them in the past. The consequences of not allowing semi-frequent small fires is large fires that impact the whole system. Nobody wants to see homes or lives lost to fires either, but fires are good for forests, wildlife and us in the longterm.
  6. Ben has been popin' up more and more.
  7. Hey! That Drum was caught on MY spot. Nice guys. I'm heading up on Monday afternoon.
  8. I'll second that.
  9. Some boaters are unbelievable. The risk they put themselves and others at is incredible. Spending as much time as I do in a canoe (and boats) I've seen astounding acts of stupidity. What floors me is the more people don't end up paying for their, and others, mistakes with their lives more often. BTW if you are in a canoe and run into problems DO NOT grab the gunwales, it always makes your situation worse, and almost guarantees that you will end up in the drink. Gunwale grabers kill. And another thing while I'm on my high horse: It is spelled gunwale, but pronounced gunnel, like tunnel. Don't spell it gunnel and don't pronounce it gunwhale. Don't blame me, I didn't make it up, but that is the way it is. Time to get down, I sound like an
  10. I was thinkin' sauger when you said how deep it was, but it clearly was not. Every time I watch one of your videos, in the back of my mind I see you stopping for tea in the middle of a hot bite. Has the topic of how you hold/ mount the video camera while you reel a fish in been discussed previously? I appreciate the time you take to film and post your reports.
  11. More than 10 responses and no one has call "Atlantic". Come on what is this board coming to? Easy to identify, that doesn't create buzz however.
  12. Hopefully the fishing trip lasts longer.
  13. North Bay paper article on fire ban: http://www.nugget.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2588082
  14. I don't know, you tell me. Oh and yes I do.
  15. That's my route of choice as well, although I don't know what the current road construction situation is.
  16. I would say less is more. Watch your drop shot at the side of the boat. Try to keep it still, it's hard to do if you've tied it right. Keep the movements subtle. If the fish want aggressive movements a jig or other presentation might be a better option. Play with the length of your dropper too. Good luck.
  17. Picton, to a friends families cottage. Some fireworks, some sparklers, maybe some fishin', but it will be with 4 boys under 6. Hopefully lots of smilies.
  18. Wow! You can buy a whole lota boat for that! Nice stuff.
  19. Nice! I stayed at a few place during school that weren't as nice as that.
  20. I haven't used bait for close to ten years on Nipissing. Gulp minnows, and worms. I'll be using leaches this year as well.
  21. When I flipped to the show my first thought was they were in Alberta. Some very beautiful spots in northern Mongolia. The flight there would be brutal however.
  22. Very interesting, thanks. No captain high-liner frozen crap there.
  23. He'll remember that fish, and this day, for the rest of his life.
