Get yourself a Keel-Guard and install it on your glass boat, it's one of the best investments you'll make. I put my glass Skeeter on top of a submerged rock the size of a pick-up and even though I was going slow it could have done some serious damage, but with the Keel-Guard there wasn't a mark.

Probably 45 years ago my Dad and I were camping east of Algonquin Park in November during the deer hunt. One day we heard a hound howling off in the distance and then heard it again thru the night, again the next day & then on the 2nd evening while we were sitting around the campfire she came outta the bush and walked up to us. Guess she was cold and wanted to be near the fire. The poor pooch was starving so we fed her a good supper and then she slept in the tent with us. Thru the night she was making some weird noises so I got my flashlight and realized she was giving birth to a pup. Turns out the pup was dead so I took it outside and buried it. The dog was going crazy and dug it up so I buried it again and put a big rock on it. Anyways, the dog had a tag on her collar with a phone # so we called the owner in Ottawa. He said they'd lost the dog a week ago so we gave him directions to our camp and he showed up in the afternoon and picked up his pooch. Don't know if that's what's in the video TJ but a lost dog is sure a possibility

I've been a member of this board for 17 years and don't ever remember it being strictly fishing, infact some of the best ever discussions around here have had nothing to do with fishing. As far as Don Cherry's opinions, he's entitled to think whatever he wants. Personally, I buy & wear a poppy the 1st day they become available and always wear it till the 11th but if I see someone not wearing one I certainly wouldn't chastise him for it because it's his choice.

I never became a fan of ice fishing, just something I never took an interest in. My Grandparents had a water front home on Simcoe for years and had a hut that I think I used once and my brother had a waterfront home on Scugog with a hut also that I used once. Went out with the boys from this site a few times but again no interest. Staring down a hole in the ice all day just never became my thing I spose.

For anyone who may be interested this is an update from "The Retired Toronto Firefighters Association" on the fireman who fell off the 3 story roof in Toronto a few days ago. +++++++ So here is the latest update on the Captain ( Jim Warren Jr.) who was severely injured the other night. He seems to have made good progress, but has a long road ahead for complete recovery....the other Firefighter was sent home the next day with broken bones. We all continue to send our support and goodwill to those affected by this intense fire scene. A reminder of the unpredictable situations faced by all 1st responders daily. I will add, the outpouring of positive thoughts, energy and prayers, are appreciated by all those involved, I know it means a lot to them... Retired Toronto Fire Fighters Association Update on our Injured Brothers The Capt remaining in hospital has a broken jaw, several broken ribs and damaged vertebrae. He was put into an induced coma but was taken out of the coma around noon yesterday. This was to allow the doctors to assess his brain function. He gave doctors a thumbs up (literally). They put him back into the coma where he will be kept for a few days to allow his brain to heal. He is expected to make a full recovery. Wheew! +++++

Every time I hear about roundabouts I think of Chevy Chase in European Vacation where he spent 1/2 the day trying to exit one in London LOL

This guy was tiny but check out the size of the lure he attacked, just shows how aggressive these guys really are. I just had to take the little guys picture because of his gutsy attitude LOL

NF-How many now have to eat all those extra Halloween candies ?
lew replied to woodenboater's topic in General Discussion
There's no kids on my road so no Trick or Treating either so all candy in this house belongs to me LOL -

I bought a new 1650 Crestliner in '99 and drove it for 10 years with zero issues then sold it to a bud who has been driving it now for another 10 years and it's still good. I'd definitely recommend Crestliner for anyone looking for a well made boat.

Any size to them Roger ?

Guess it all depends on how much the motor is used over the season but I always changed mine every fall. Very easy and cheap to do and good insurance.

Not entirely Drew, I did bury a small treble from a pickerel lure in my finger one time. Try as a might I couldn't get the darned thing out so I drove into town to a small emergency walk-in clinic. The Doc came in and said "Oh, that doesn't look bad and you won't need freezing, I'll just yank it out" I told him when a hook is bury in HIS hand he can yank it out without freezing but when it's in MY finger he'll freeze it and remove it GENTLY hahaha

Many years ago when they started the Daily Bread Food Bank drive to collect food for Thanksgiving & Christmas for the less fortunate, residents were asked to bring food donations to the local firehalls, among other locations. We had large boxes in all the stations and when people would bring donations we'd fill the boxes. We were told that vehicles would come by every couple days to pick up whatever donations there were. We were sitting in the firehall a couple days later and a truck backs up to the building for the 1st pick-up and the fella got out and said he was there for the grub. Good stuff, so we all got together...including the driver...and loaded his van and away he went. Later on that day another truck arrives and the driver got out, showed us his I.D. and said he was there for the food. We explained that he was too late as the other guy already got it. He said that was impossible as he was the only one picking up in that area. Turns out we actually helped a thief steal food from the poor. Sad story but 100% true

My son was a 6'4" iron worker and as strong & tough as they come... (but was also gentle as a lamb)... and growing up nobody ever messed with him but whenever one of his buds was being bullied Jim went in and took care of business and the cowards never bothered his buds again.. As an adult he was sitting in a bar by himself one evening having a beer and there was a table next to him with 9 loud mouths bothering everyone around them. My son had longish hair at the time plus a diamond stud earring and one of the punks came over and started hassling him about it. Jim let it slide and just continued enjoying his beer. When he was done he got up and left the bar but was followed by the 9 and once in the parking lot they started the fight. Jim was so damned tough he took them all on and won the fight all by himself and walked away with nothing more then bloodied knuckles but left the "tough guys" with a bunch of busted faces and broken teeth. Guess what I'm saying is these kinda punks are all ages and only seem to want to cause trouble when they're in a group of like minded cowards. Probably not much anyone can do other than pound the crap outta them and hopefully let them see what it's like to be on the receiving end.

Yup, he sure does Kelvin & the motor too, infact he just did the 1st repair on the motor a couple years ago, not bad for a '99 Merc with many many hours on it.
