  1. Pair of good looking dogs you've got Dave
  2. Put a cover on it. My boats sat in the water all summer long for many years with both an automatic bilge and quality covers and I never had a problem
  3. I've got 2 lawnmowers that are used alot and I change the oil every fall without fail. I've also got a TORO snowblower and even though I have 250' of driveway to clear I usually do it all by hand just because I like the exercise. I still change the oil on it every year but last winter I only fired it up once for maybe an hour so didn't bother with the oil change and figure I'll be fine with it.
  4. Great video on the hook removal Drew and one of the main reasons good hook cutters are an essential part of of any tackle kit. Nice too that you were able to freeze your own finger although everyone doesn't have that equipment LOL I was lucky and after about 45 years of musky fishing I never got hung up on a large treble but did get cut by large teeth a couple times including once for 8 stitches.

    Yikes !

    So did my brother
  6. I don't think anything's dividing this group Art, just a bunch of guys having a discussion about something important and everyone giving an opinion.....not unlike a bunch of guys having a few beers around a campfire discussing stuff and we've all been there.
  7. We crossed lake Champlain by ferry from New York to Vermont a month ago and the lake was unbelievably rough with big wind coming straight out of the south. That old boat was rockin & rollin with waves coming over the bow and I was waiting for the tractor trailer parked beside me to end up in our laps. Darned near took me back to my Navy days LOL Real pretty lake though.
  8. I actually used a hybrid net as I always found the Frabil handle and hoop to be stronger than Beckman but much preferred the large square bag that Beckman had. I kept the Frabil hardware and purchased a Beckman bag and it fit perfectly and I then had the best of both worlds and the square bottom bag made it MUCH easier to lift the fish out. It's all a personal choice though but that's just what I found worked best for me but any of the larger musky nets should reach the water OK.
  9. Big square bottom net is invaluable when landing big toothy critters, and sometimes it's better to leave her in the net and work from the outside while cutting those hooks. You can use your long nosed pliers to grip the hooks while you cut them and hopefully keep your hands while she thrashes....and she will. LOL Looks like a nice fish there and congrats.
  10. We were in Charlottetown PEI a couple weeks back and stopped into Sobeys to pick up a few things and they no longer put your items in plastic bags, it's all paper bags now. Small start but for sure in the right direction.
  11. I think it's great to see so many thousands of young folks taking such an interest in this.
  12. Seems to me I read somewhere that the folks that were killed were on a pontoon boat and if so, I guess it would be somewhat easy for the other boat to possibly ride up over it and hit the people ??
  13. There's truth to what you say as I actually posted here about the guys dying on Stoney Lake and it received very few replies. Guess it just takes a celebrity to be be involved to bring out all the OFC forensic experts.
  14. About 15 years ago my daughter was in a serious accident on the 115 and her car was so badly mangled she had to be cut free by the Fire Dept. Fortunately the seat belt & air bags did their job and she wasn't too seriously injured. After she got out of the hospital we went to where her car had been towed to retrieve her stuff and found that her suitcase was missing. We went to the accident scene and walked the shoulders but it wasn't there so we can only assume someone stole it. We talked to everyone involved but nobody knew anything. It can be a sad world sometimes.
  15. And some pretty snazzy key chains too LOL
  16. I spent many many years chasing muskies after dark and really enjoyed it but heading back to the dock could be dangerous with other boats on the water with no lights on. I always drove at slow speeds and ALWAYS had a flashlight to scan the waters ahead of me. Unlike some on this board I don't consider myself an expert on everything under the sun and will let this case play out the way it's sposed to with a judge listening to all the facts and then making his decision. I wasn't there when it happened and I doubt anyone else from this board were either, so I find it interesting how many have already decided who was at fault without knowing the actual facts. But that's just me.
  17. And that's the exact reason the law says you WILL have a flashlight in your boat.
  18. There were the same sort of statements made when this 1st happened, let's allow the courts to make that decision. The OPP have done their investigation and I highly doubt they'd lay the charges against the wife if they weren't sure of the details.
  19. A friend bought a new Ram last year Ernie .... Rebel I think ....really nice truck.
  20. Can't help you at all with your question Tom but best of luck in the future.
  21. There's only a few of us left now Art, be good to see you & Joe around the campfire again.
  22. Yup, pike for sure
  23. We're big fans of the Island Gerry and have visited several times, infact we we're just there 3 years ago. It's a beautiful place where everyone is really proud of their homes and look after them. Driving around there for 3 days I don't think I saw a single piece of garbage thrown on the ground.
  24. As I posted in another thread my wife and I have been travelling around the east coast of the U.S. and the Maritimes for awhile now. We always stay at Hampton Inn & Suites whenever possible because they're great hotels and that point was really proven this week. We were staying in Charlottetown PEI last week and left there on Monday for Moncton NB where we are now. After we arrived at our hotel here and were unpacking our things we realized we'd left several hundred dollars worth of clothing in PEI.....don't ask LOL We called them right away and the desk clerk said she was just getting ready to call us as the housekeeper had found our stuff while cleaning the room. She told us not to be concerned as they'd look after everything for us, pack up all our things and ship them over here with Purolator. That was Monday afternoon and all our stuff arrived at 9:00 this morning (Wednesday) all neatly folded & packed into a couple boxes....about 43 hours. Total cost to me was a measly $38 Customer service doesn't get any better than that.
  25. I never had much interest in walleye fishing but for a good chunk of my life we always did a trip to Quinte on the May 24 weekend and a favorite bait was tolling a blue / orange Bomber Long A after sunset.
