  1. We used to have some great discussions here a few years back about keeping or releasing muskies and I don't think anyone ever won the argument LOL
  2. Depends how you garnish them before putting them on the BBQ.
  3. 2 of my most productive lures ever were Bumblebee. One was a 10" Believer that I removed the rattles from and the other was a Double "D" twitch bait that I hand painted. Strawberry Sledge was another great bait that also put many nice fish in my boat. Both incredible colours for sure.
  4. Nice pictures from a great place, we'll be in PEI in September
  5. Not really sure what your talking about when you refer to "incredible looking baits" as there are so many different baits on the market you couldn't count them all. Many of them work extremely well and many just catch fishermen. I had boxes full of baits but I knew what worked for me on the waters I was going to be fishing on a certain day and time of day or night. As for muskies being the hardest fish to catch, that's more to do with the the skill of the angler in a lot of cases. In the Kawarthas they're relatively easy to catch when you know where and when to fish for them and getting multiple fish in a day is very common. For many years I kept a log and usually caught between about 80-100 fish per season and my best year was 115 fish in the boat not even counting the ones my fishing partners caught. One morning I went out at 7:30 and by 10:00 I'd boated 9 fish. Bigger bodies of water like the St. Lawrence or Nippising don't hold as many fish but if you know what your doing and where & when to go you can still do well. The "fish of 10,000 casts" is only for those that don't understand the fish.
  6. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I said it for years, you don't need fancy to catch muskies and some of my favorite baits were the ones with most of the paint worn off or the big spinnerbaits with hardly any hair left on them.
  7. Fantastic Dan and good to hear the trip was as much fun as you'd hoped for.
  8. WOW, that picture is incredible, definitely frame worthy !! And it looks like a Killer Whale at the bottom LOL
  9. 53 wonderful years this coming October
  10. I remember that day well Bud hahaha Great picture too.
  11. Don't feel sad for me Brian, it's what I wanted to do and don't miss it at all. The fella that bought my boat and alot of my gear owns the camp we still go to every June & August and I went out with him once or twice after he got it and I honestly didn't even really enjoy it anymore. Funny how things change in our lives.
  12. And that's what it's all about right there.
  13. Howzbout some early morning mist of Nippising...absolutely best time of the day
  14. Beauty pic Brian, really nice. Makes getting up before the birds worthwhile doesn't it ?
  15. Hey Brian, we did go ice fishing together once, course it was many many moons ago LOL
  16. Basically I just tired of it, I started fishing waaay back around 1950 and spent a crazy amount of time doing it. We had a trailer in the Kawarthas (Lakefield) for 36 years & for the last 9 years we've lived just north of there and it seemed like I was almost living in my boat sometimes and a couple years ago I started to get bored with it. The last couple years the only fishing I did was a week in June on Nippising and then 2 more in August and the rest of the time the boat sat getting dusty in the garage. I still get offers to join friends in their boats but the interest just isn't there anymore. I sold everything including my boat and the funny thing is I don't miss it at all. There's still a small group of us go to Nip every June but nobody brings their boats either.
  17. Perhaps your thinking of this item ? LOL
  18. I often spend more time in the garage than in the house Shane, gotta keep it clean & organized LOL
  19. I do keep a nice clean garage HH
  20. Sure, you can buy a stand custom made for any tool Bill, but what fun is that ?? LOL
  21. Yeah, the stand won't look new for very long, I'm always doing something with the saw. As for the colour match, I just went to the local Home Hardware and got a DEWALT drill off the shelf and took it to the paint dept where they can scan pretty well any item and match the colour almost exact.
  22. I bought a new DEWALT table saw awhile back and the old stand was getting kinda rickety so I built a new one. Then I decided it looked kinda bland so what's a fella to do with a bland stand ??....well, paint it to match the saw. Yeah, I have LOTS of spare time now that I no longer fish LOL
  23. Best wishes to you too Eric, both you & Paul have been more than inspirational over all these years with how well you've handled this disease and I don't ever remember either one of you actually whining about the hand you were dealt. Lots of folks whine about every ache or pain but not you two.
  24. Best of luck Paul, hopefully this is just a bump in the road.
  25. Yeah, it's been windy here the last few few nights Brian
