  1. Most parks do not accept a trailer more than 10 years old. That said, it does not hurt to ask. You have all of the Kawarthas within an hour and a half of you. Quinte is about two hours away as well. Honey Harbour, the Muskokas, etc.... your bigest issue is the age of it. But it never hurts to call around and ask.
  2. Wayne, I do not know what to say other than *!*:/+/+:+:+:/*/+/+:-/+:-;-'='@-:-"'-!)!-? Cancer!!!! I had my last treatment 2 weeks ago. A couple days ago, an old high school friend passed away from pancreatic cancer at 45. Bittersweet for me. Hearing about Jen now is tough. I wish her the best of luck and Godspeed with her treatment to clean it up.
  3. Shimano reel and a St Croix Premier or Legend rod, 7ft+ in Med Hvy action to toss bucktails. And a 7ft or less in hvy or x/hvy to toss glide baits and jerk baits. Then a nice Shimano Tekota on a 8ft glass trolling rod. All spooled with 80lb minimum braided line. Some floro leaders and a hard wire steel leader for jerks and gliders. A few bucktails, a couple Suicks, Hellhound, Top Raiders, the list goes on and on. LOTW is my all time favourite body of water. Musky, pike, walleye, bass..... + the most beautiful scenery.
  4. Dunker, you can use the plastic dimpled membrane they use to protect foundations on new homes. It comes in a big roll, roll it out to size, cover with tongue and groove plywood and nail down with concrete nails. Cheaper and same thing pretty much. We did that in my basement and the floor is nice and warm.
  5. Wayne, get your head out of that nasty spot!!! That is not where you are allowed to go. You have to think positive. Trust me, I know it is hard. Your daughter is one hell of a fighter. Cliff, good to hear you are OK.
  6. What was the point of this whole thread??? O yeah, seniors licensing. More money to go into the nebulous hole known as general revenue.
  7. Cliff, do not screw around, head straight to Emerg and get checked out. Yu were out for a minute and were very disoriented afterwards. Head injuries arre not to be trifled with. My wife is still dealing with the effects of a concussion from 2 months ago and it is taking it's time to get better.
  8. They dropped the ball in a big way with distribution. Whoever was in charge of that should get the guillotine. Go a couple times to a half empty store and you will not waste more time going there. I feel for the employees, they were for the most part really helpful. Better than Wallyworld any day.
  9. I had a trailer up in Honey Harbour for a few seasons. The owners are all the same, they will be a bit crotchety at times and you sometimes feel as if you are getting nickeled and dimed but at the end of the day, they are not your friend, they are your landlord. Learn how to work on and winterize your trailer, you can save a bunch of dough that way to spend on bait and gear. With a tinny, you will be fine on Pigeon unless it is a bad day weather wise. Have fun, some of our funnest times werre at the trailer with my kids.
  10. Awesome video and great camera and editing work!!! Mercer is a great guy. I spent a good hour talking to him a couple years ago at the fishing show and he handed me a stack of subway cards for my girls who charmed his socks off. He is having fun living his dream. Good for you guys. You have a fan here!!
  11. As our dollar drops a bit more, the pricing will narrow even more.
  12. Good luck!! Thoughts and prayers for her and your family Wayne.
  13. Haha!! Get someone to grind it down to shape. The balance will be off but it can still be used as a chopping or hacking knife (think squash and turnips). I use a 10 dollar Kitchen Aid Santoku knife that I bought at CT on special and it is great. Better than my CutCo chefs knife and a Henkels that I have. It holds a half decent edge that I touch up with my shrpening steel. It is shorter and very handy. Mind you, everyone else likes their own knives up at the cottage.
  14. A hemi RAM doing 11.5/100k!! Hard to believe. Maybe doing 100 on the nose with no wind whatsoever. But, HEMI power comes at a price - at the pumps. The Ecodiesel is pretty impressive. Stump pulling torque, great fuel economy, resale,etc.. the only drawback, it is a bit slow on acceleration. Not bad mind you, but slower than what we are getting accustomed to which is a whole other can of worms.
  15. Merry Christmas Lew!! All the best to you and your family. I hope the Mrs is doing much better and enjoy the season.
  16. A new fish finder for the boat. Mine is dying.
  17. Chicago is my kinda town. You wont regret going there. 8-9 hrs. The magnificent mile downtown is cool. Lots of places to go.
  18. If you can find a deal on a used 4 stroke it could be worth your while, otherwise you could upgrade to a newer used boat with a 4 stroke hanging off the back. Repowering is expensive and you have to weigh it out as to whether it is worth it or not. As for parts, there are a couple of boneyards out there for boats. Might be worth checking out. There is one place in Honey Harbour, he has tons of bits and pieces. The name escapes me though.
  19. I remember those SCs, they were a nice car back in the day. One of the first to go with platinum plugs. My eyes popped when I saw how much they cost as compared to regular Autolites.
  20. Gas is a by product of refining. The refiners do not make a lot of money off it. Diesel and kerosene however, are the major drivers of their profits. Come spring, oil will drop significantly Asthe demand for heating oil eases. The long term forecasts are showing a relatively warm January with daytime highs around -5 or so, that will drive the perceived and real demand for heating oil down. Oil has had its day in the commodity markets, as well as other resources, time for the next hot thing for 10 years. That my friends, I cannot tell you as my crystal ball is cracked and the future is cloudy.....
  21. Check out one or two of the bimmer forums out there. It may be an easy diy fix that could save you a couple hundred bbucks that you could spend on tackle......just saying.
  22. Here we go again. Every year at the beginning of winter, a heated debate about making snow tires mandatory. What should be outlawed is summer tires as of Nov 1. Most of the stupidity seen in the mid november snowstorm was people who had not changed over to their snow tires. All season tires are fine IF and ONLY IF they have a relatively aggressive tread pattern to clear snow. High performance all seasons are not much of a compromise. Quebec is not a good comparison because most of the population there lives in a snow belt area. How many times a winter does Montreal get hammered with snow?? Are snow tires worth the extra expense, maybe, maybe not. It could be argued until the cows come home. I do not have snows on my vehicles. If it is really icy or really bad out, I will just stay home and wait it out. A set of snow tires is not going to protect me from the idiots driving like maniacs in their 4x4s and SUVs. Drive according to the conditions and your skills. Here we go again. Every year at the beginning of winter, a heated debate about making snow tires mandatory. 23. I cannot wait for my wife's cinnamon buns with pecans Christmas morning.
