  1. Sweet Daddy Siki!!! Haha!! Black Jack Mulligan. Superstar 1 and 2, Rick Flair, Ricki Steamboat and Chief Jay Youngblood, Abdullah the Butcher, the Anderson Brothers, Big Swede Hanson, Angelo King Kong Mosca, The Iron Sheikh, Jim Brunzel (i remember when Brunzel pulled the Sheikhs loaded boot off and beat him with it). Oh the soap opera. I lost interest in wrestling after the 2nd Wrestlemania. Loved Maple Leaf Wrestling.
  2. So just how exactly is the government in control of your RRSP?? Are they in any more control of that any more tthan anything else, your home, your bank accounts, etc.... how else is the average Joe going to be able to save enough money to retire?? CPP and OAS will put food on the table and pay some bills but is no where near enough to get by. Not everyone has a job with a generous pension or works for the government. You have to do something to be able to retire.
  3. I was a financial advisor for 17 years before I sold my business this year to switch gears in my life and focus on what really matters most, my health and my family. There are many good points here. For the average person working for a living, RRSPs combined with a TFSA are definitely a huge part of retirement. I also stress that consumer debt is a killer, get out of it asap. Mortgage debt is different, at the end of the day you have 4 walls you can eat or pass on to your heirs. Buy a rental property if you can muster up the down payment. The sweetest money you will make is the money made while you sleep. Someone else is paying your mortgage for you. It is work and has its ups and downs but if you buy the right property and are handy, you will do ok. When you have to pay someone to unplug a toilet, then rentals are not for you, you will end up spending more than you bring in on the property. As for RRSPs and TFSAs, balanced investments are the way to go. You need the fixed income portion to cushion the downs and equities to provide the upside. Yes, the market tanks every few years, it has always done it, but it makes its way back up over time, our whole economy is based on this. For the doomsayers that think everything is a house of cards and it will come crashing down, it probably is BUT if our economy and way of life collapses, you could have a mattress stuffed full of cash that will only be good for lighting a fire, nothing else. Buy monthly, ignore the noise and when the market tanks, put more money in, that it the absolute hardest thing to do but let me tell you, if you have the intestinal fortitude to do that, you will make out like a bandit if you buy into companies that are perfectly fine but get dragged down with the rest of the market. Use your tax refund to either pay down your mortgage or fund your tfsa. Do not blow it on frivilous things. PM me if you want to chat. I can help you out with a few ideas, FOR A PRICE, a fishing spot or two.......
  4. Jeez, the saga continues. My thoughts and prayers will continue for that amazing gal of yours and I hope your good lady gets better soon.
  5. Putanesca = lady of the evening's sauce. Basically olive oil, garlic, anchovies, hot chili flakes, olives, capers and smashed up tomatoes. I am not a big fan of anchovies bbut they work incredibly in this.
  6. Greek and Italian for me. I learned over the years to make a good souvlaki and tzatziki and a killer putanesca (checkout girl's) sauce. Hitting the Danforth where Ii grew up for some greek is a fun night out with the family.
  7. Should have said good for you selling a boat for 139k and no water test. That was very arrogant on the part of the sales man. I think they know they got hosed on that boat and that it has problems. But are trying to weasel their way out by screwing an unsuspecting customer.
  8. You guys did the right thing in walking away. The keel is probably chewed right up by the moron previous owner running it up onto rocks.
  9. Definitely not tracking like it should. Either the suspension OR the axle is the culprit. Take it to a trailer shop to get checked out and repaired properly.
  10. That is no fun Cliff. Have an OFC dock building party in the spring. I am sure that for a case of foamy apple juice an a couple of pizzas, you should have no trouble in getti g a few extra pairs of hands to rebuild your dock. It was quite wild here too in Oakville last night.
  11. I Can't beleive you guys caught that musky there!! Never would have thought to fish for skis there, you could def do it from shore. Btw, that sucks that the reel came apart like that. I would contact Abu, you never know, they may send you a new reel. A Calcutta is the cadillac of musky reels, you will never regret buying it. My TE followed by my Abu Record and then my Curado 300 in that order are my fave reels.
  12. Beauty!! Good for you Bunk!!
  13. Good for you!!! Keep smoke free. Great to hear you are enjoying the job.
  14. Check the ground strap. You will probably find that it is badly corroded esp on a 96.
  15. Lew you did the right thing in cleeaning the hub surface with a wire wheel and coating with anti seize. Check the back of the rims too, if there is corrosion abck there, do the same thing. I remember many moons ago in high school auto shop, I was told to take my shop teachers late 70s Impala with a hopped up 350 o go in the back parking lot of the school and do some hard turns with loose lug nuts to break the wheels loose.... went back to the shop with the mission accopmplished and the car filled with tire smoke for some reason.....
  16. Happy bday Lew!! I hope you have a great day with the ladies in your life!!!
  17. Keep the cupboards stocked with her loaded up on the 'roids. I was eating 5 MEALS a day + snacks when I was loaded up on Prednisone. Keep her eating good food so her body can heal with the radiation. Good luck!!!
  18. Bo and Luke Duke have nothing on me when it comes to changing a tire or even a prop. Only once have I had to do my own tire and that was because a brand new Michelin was defective and blew out. All the rest were with buddiees over the years or at Cayuga changing out slicks for street tires back in our 5.0l fever days.
  19. For those that drive a lot and are budget conscious take a look at Sailun tires. I bought a set for my buick this past summer on the recommendation of my tire guy in Oakville. He guarranteed me that I would be more than happy with them and even went as far as saying he would change them out for another name brand at no extra charge if I was not happy. Well, great tires, handle great, nice ride, great in the rain and are supposed to be pretty good in the winter. They mKe some nice looking winter tires as well. This is coming from a guy who never bought an off brand tire in 27 years of driving.
  20. Good Day!!! Good news is the absolute best news!!! That little girl of yours is something else. It is great when the docs are lined up and get their thing done quickly. Keep the good news rolling.....
  21. Sure they removed it without question. Sales tax is understood, extra fees....not so much. if they let you know from the get go, different story. Just another way to nickel and dime unsuspecting people. To boot, do you need Bull like this right abouut now?? Anyways, I hope Diane gets well soon.
  22. Happy belated bday!!
  23. Sometimes there is no making sense of how things are done. Frustrations and the like. I am 2 years in and my family doctor has yet to see anything on my file here from Credit valley. Hang in there. Wasted time is no big deal as long as there is progress. Jen is one of the strongest willed people I have ever come across and I have never met her in person.
  24. Go on iboats.com, you can download the manufacturers shop manuals that will outline exactly what you need to do for your outboards, both engine and lower. Everyone here can help you out on getting the rest of the work done, ie. winterizing the livewells. Too much for what they did. Def give them a piece of your mind. It should have been shrinkwrapped for that price. Winterizing an i/o which is a lot more involved than an outboard runs 350 or so. If they do not do anything for you, make sure you post the name of the place everywhere you can and warn people of their business practices.
  25. 5 micron filter, tannin filter if needed, UV light to kill bacteria and a carbon filter to scrub the water. As Gerrit said, do not screw around with your drinking water. We run the above at the lake along with a 30 micron filter because we draw from the lake. Test before and after using the above setup to see the difference. You will be amazed. It is not cheap to get a proper setup but the results are worth it.
