  1. What a gorgeous day out there, let us know how you did once you get home!
  2. I thought RC meant Roman Catholic...and no, I am not
  3. cringe....and that's why I troll when I have newbie's on board. Back in my pike days one of my yahoo buddies beened my off the forehead with a 5 o diamonds. That was bad enough
  4. go get em! I went last week or I would jump all over this. $50 to go fish L St. Clair can't be beat.
  5. oh ya...I have hooked into a couple mighty sheepheads. Give a good account of themselves. I love it when musky fishing and a rod goes off and some poor chump loses his turn bringing in a grunting sheephead....good times
  6. even though I never tried it while I lived there, I imagine the whole Barrie shoreline could produce smallmouth. Lots of rocky breakwalls.
  7. She's a beaut! Congrats on being rewarded for toughing it out
  8. watched a canoe come flying off a car once...and then splinter into many pieces
  9. Personally I was hoping he was going to troll with it
  10. think he ever unhooked the poor beast?
  11. dang...knew I shoulda gone to Thames! Nice fish.
  12. Just wanted to give a bit of an update. We got on the water around 8:45 am, cast for 10 minutes or so at the mouth of the marina (Belle River) then set up to do some trolling. We ended up getting 4 before noon (3 were just under 40, and one was 44) but at noon conditions changed. Sun came out, the water laid down and the fish shut off. We stayed til 3, only having one more rip for our efforts but that fish didn't hook up. Was good to get out there though!
  13. Thanks Bob. We will give it a shot and see what happens. Start right from the launch and head further out if nobody is in tight yet!
  14. Haven't got out fishing much this year, and haven't been to St Clair since early July (hurts just to type that). Fortunately, I am heading out to St Clair tomorrow. Was wondering if anyone knew if the shad were congregating at the river mouths yet or are temps too warm still. Will affect what kind of gear I bring tomorrow (ie trolling vs casting). PM's always welcomed too!
  15. Wow one heck of a jackfish. Beauty
  16. Good call Lew. I bet if you drove that item to the address they requested there would be some teenage boys in the house across the street pissing their pants.
  17. somebody gave them a shortshaft outboard rather than long and they found a way to use it
  18. We found out what campground they were staying in, but i was more concerned to get her in the boat and to a hospital. By the time the cops went to their campsite they were long gone. My sister-in-law regained conciousness and was fine (other than usual concussion symptoms - headache, vomiting etc) so it was not pursued any further. Thankfully no long term effects for her, but without a doubt the scariest moment of our lives.
  19. she's a beaut! I hope she dines on a lot of pike out there.
  20. Don't get me started...a moron on a jet ski nearly killed my sister in law. We were towing her on a tube and a jetskier smacked right into her, knocked her out cold in the water
  21. 2013 16'8" Alumacraft Competitor with 90hp 4 stroke Yamaha - tops out at 42 mph
  22. Give Simcoe a couple more years Brian! Great video. The river is never calm like that when I am there. That actually looked quite pleasant.
  23. GBay is for the REALLY dedicated musky fisherman in my opinion. The guy who has caught maybe 500+ muskies already and is seeking a true giant or the next possible world record, rather than just another 42 incher. Since I am still well below 500, I still really enjoy a 42 incher! Crap even a 38 gets me somewhat interested. I hope someday I have more time to fish and caught enough decent fish to change gears and to really seek out that giant. In the meantime though, I want to catch fish so that means the Kawarthas or St. Clair for me.
  24. Another for Bay City Marine. I bought off them 2 years ago (16'8" alumacraft with a 90 hp yamaha)....probably exactly what you are looking for! They don't carry alumacraft anymore I don't think, but they had some Lunds in the same size for pretty much the same price (low 20's). Clarence was great to deal with, no hesitation to recommend them
  25. rig the next one to explode...just don't forget that you've rigged it
