Lake St Clair Muskie - Open Seat (last minute!)
Rizzo replied to KraTToR's topic in General Discussion
Go get em! And make sure you let us know how you did. -
that is just nuts. I would fire up the boat and make all kinds of racket....like have an anchor launching competition with my buddies. If you can hit their boat with an anchor they are too close!

Almost 60 hours in the past 3 weeks, but we finally took the stink
Rizzo replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
oh dear....60 hours. I don't have the fortitude yet, gotta see some kind of results. Having said that, I may only fish 60 hours for the whole season! If I could fish all kinds, then a search for a true giant would interest me. -
Couple nice St. Lawrence muskies from the weekend
Rizzo replied to Fisherpete's topic in General Discussion
Nicely done. I agree about the early success being killer on the rest of your day. Went to St. clair a few weeks ago, raised a fish maybe 3rd cast...didn't have a sniff the rest of the day. Worst part...as soon as I mentioned this to my buddy (how this often happens) it was on our mind the rest of the day...and it came true. Your 819 km is easier to take when some nice fish were boated -
another vote for Britt...haven't been there since we moved away from Barrie, nice spot and some King Kong muskies

Huge Fish Drags Fisherman Around After Stealing His Catch
Rizzo replied to PUMP KNOWS's topic in General Discussion
haha that was hilarious. With all those groupers around its time to find another spot to fish -
Wow it has been a tough go the past week...I am hearing lots of skunkings

I will stick with my original assessment that that fish is not a tiger. Take a look at the post from fisherpete...that is a tiger. With tigers that striated pattern goes right up into the gill plate, and the fish tend to be less " green" than a musky and a bit more "bronze" in colour. Its a beauty fish no doubt, but I am gonna keep my vote on barred musky, not a hybrid. About 7 or 8 years ago I caught a fish out of the Niagara River that looked just like this one (bigger of course...this is a fish story!) and I also thought it was a tiger. The kind gents (and gals) here gave me a bit of a biology/appearance lesson and I was eventually persuaded that what I had caught was a barred musky. Since then I have probably caught over 10 tigers (I used to fish Balsam a lot!) so can spot the difference a bit easier now. If I am wrong and that fish is a tiger than I have caught many more than I thought!

Awesome! Great report and well done. 3 muskies in a day is nothing to sneeze at either. Don't think that is a tiger though I would say "barred" musky. Muskies come in a number of different looks and that one is a beaut.

sling shot to the head....NF russia??? (contains blood)
Rizzo replied to manitoubass2's topic in General Discussion
weird thing is....look at the guys shirt...looks like he's already covered in blood before it happens! Not the first time buddy beaned himself methinks. He bleeds good though, I give him credit. -
Former Blue Jay Retires to Spend More Time Fishing
Rizzo replied to netminder's topic in General Discussion
he's not the first I am sure. Many ballplayers, especially the ones from the southern U.S., are big time into bass fishing -
Zoinks what a brute

Had a follow on one of my first casts....that is always a bad thing for me. Quick siting has often meant a lousy day ahead. And that came true again. It was the only fish we saw all day (spent most of day trolling though). Not a rip. Water was 52 and air was around 70. Most times when I get a warm fall day also means bad news.
-
Nuts...thought this post was that maybe you found my lost rods and reels! Hope you guys have better luck than me.
-
Ouch. Well they stack up a bit on St Clair so hope we can get on to a couple! Either way...I won't be at work.
-
Hope to have something to tell you when I get back. Probably fish 9-5 or so.
-
spend spend spend don't worry about how to pay it back. Sound like a lot of Canadians' philosophy these days? No wonder Justin won!
-
well that was annoying...even at lowest volume
-
Some of those floating set ups only float for 20 seconds or so. ..found that the hard way
-
well good luck whatever you fish for! keep us updated. I hope to get out there as well towards the end of this week.

Female Angler Lands Monster 55" Lake St. Clair Muskie
Rizzo replied to JustinHoffman's topic in General Discussion
Great Caesar's ghost what a fish! Nicely done. Probably tasted like an old boot though. -
I would disagree with that (the career suicide part). When I was on a one year contract I also was given an offer elsewhere. I asked the boss to have a chat, told him quite openly what I had been offered and that because of the full time nature at that other job I was going to have to take it. My boss didn't want to lose me, offered me full time right on the spot with better pay and benefits. If you are a valuable employee they will want to keep you. Mind you, I busted my butt at that job...there was no spending time on OFC while I was at work! Every available second I was working, skipping lunches, staying late, arriving early etc. If you want to stay at your current company, give them a chance to at least try and keep you. If you don't even want to be there just take the other job. Personally, I did not want to blindside my employer and just take the other job. I was honest with them, they were honest with me. I ended up staying there 10 more years and only left because I was offered a General Manager position elsewhere

thanks for the update. Mouth of the Thames is truly a gong show. I refuse to participate in the carousel of fools (even though I have heard of ridiculous quantities of fish being caught some days). To me, catching is only a part of the entire experience, a little tranquility is nice too. Only severe winds and the inability to fish elsewhere could convince me to fish the merry-go-round again.

ditto...cleaned the gutters, raked some leaves..thought about fishing
