  1. The last couple of days I've seen a guy ice fishing out near Centennial Beach a few hundred feet out from shore. I think there's a wreck down there?
  2. Rick you have my condolences, I'm really sorry to hear the tough times your family is going through
  3. wow that's some nasty stuff. All the best Dano, here's hoping for a speedy recovery

    Ice Road

c'mon, that beast only weighs 6000lbs, live a little!
  5. ...you know what they say...spooning may lead to forking...but if its anything jumbo I don't want to hear about it
  6. good for you, all the best in your new career choice. I guess every gov't job isn't as cushy as I always imagined them. Cudos for doing something about it, I think you've chosen wisely.
  7. When I left your place that night Aaron we drove through some pretty heavy snow...until we hit Barrie, then it stopped (something does not seem right about that statement). Turn on the radio on the drive home to hear the announcer say "And now the Leafs have an 8 goal lead" (something REALLY doesn't seem right about that statement). Good on you guys for toughing it out, it clearly paid off.
  8. I love the way OFC confirms the statement "nothing new under the sun"...in the 6 or 7(?) years I've been a member here we see the same things over and over...the giant Italian pike...the giant sturgeon...THE SIAMESE PIKE...and of course the "nobody replies to my posts" thread. Fortunately this one doesn't come up nearly as often as the others. Don't take any offense Mike, there's lots of reasons people might not respond, but there's all kinds of people who enjoy those well written, time consuming posts that you and many others make. Sometimes its just easier to comment on non-fishing posts because people are often looking for advice. When you read a great fishing report there often isn't much more to say than "great report"...so what's a guy to do? You can write "great report" 5 times a day, or you can offer practical advice on snow tires, motors or fishing lodges. Let people respond where they want and don't sweat if a report gets only a few responses (even though it may be frustrating after the effort it took to write). Regardless of the # of responses, we all love great fish porn!
  9. got mine in the mail already a few weeks back, good for another 3 years
  10. what's the thrill in buzzing around in front of the ice breaker??? Bunch of clowns on tv. I imagine it would be far more of a thrill to go BEHIND the ice breaker
  11. Simcoe is a good bet, but you may have to walk a distance depending on where you go. Little Lake in Barrie usually coughs up a pike or two, and a little further up the road L St. John generally has something biting. Try one of these 3 spots and I'm sure you'll do fine...just keep it simple - minnow, hook, line (and leader if you're after the toothy ones). Its as simple as that.
  12. that is my kind of ice fishing! When in my boat I go hardcore...no time to eat. But on the ice I'm just like you...crack out some food, share a few laughs etc. for me ice fishing is more of an "experience" than summer fishing.
  13. Lew you romantic!! Well done and very thoughtful. All the best to your family in 2011. Note to self...buy wife jewellery next year, may earn brownie points to be converted into time fishing!
  14. sounds like fun! good luck
  15. good luck and let us know how you do
  16. ...less power
  17. man that sucks. At least you did the right thing. Working in the funeral home I have actually seen people who did the right thing (take a cab), get killed by a drunk driver. Brutal
  18. has to be 27, forget Sittler and all the others, it was also worn by the late great John Kordic
  19. sounds like a few of us got out there today for the first time. A few perch is better than sitting at home (or even worse...shoveling snow!)
  20. good for you Terry! I got out for a couple of hours this afternoon as well for the first time this season. Got a few dink pike for my troubles.
  21. mmmmmmmm....gummy venus de milo..aaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhh (thats the best Homer impression I can do typing)
  22. sorry, missed it. Not generally a big fan of Italo anymore but would have watched it in support of an OFC'er. I was actually Italo for halloween once and my friend (who has a bit of a hawaian look to him) was Henry. That was a LONG time ago (long before their "I didn't know that wasn't allowed" incident. Wasn't too hard being Italo because of his distinct way of speaking (as others have referred to). Can't remember what my buddy did to "ham" up the Henry role...he did get really hammered though that night, maybe that was enough. Most people had no clue who we were anyways
  23. what he said
  24. ouch, that was horrible
  25. you didn't miss much on the upper. I was out there last Saturday and visibility was around 10 inches! We tried to bonk one on the head for a couple of hours, then decided our time could be used more wisely so packed it up early and got the boat winterized.
