  1. Thanks guys, I always felt this to be the case, but because the guy was so angry I just let him vent rather than argue! Unfortunately a person in the powered boat got a bit hurt (stitches), that boat also received damage, and the neighbour ended up being so angry with the fisherman he made their life miserable and they ended up leaving their vacation early to avoid dealing with him. Kind of a lose lose lose (the last lose is me...I refunded party of the rent because I felt badly that they had a negative experience).
  2. He complained to me saying they were "right in the channel"...even though we have no channel, just some spots that are narrower than others.
  3. My cottage neighbour is very upset about something that happened this summer, just wondered if someone could give me some insight as to who is at fault. Here's the scenario: 2 guys (my renters) were fishing with the motor shut off, drifting slowly with the wind. My neighbour was out pulling a relative behind his boat on a wakeboard. Our lake is a few kms long, but in some areas only 150-200 feet across. It is long and straight, so you can see almost the entire length of the lake. The guys who were fishing drifted into one of the narrower areas of the lake, and were apparently right in the middle of it (so maybe 50 - 75 feet on either side to pass). The boat with the wakeboard came right towards them, swerved at the last second and a person in that boat fell and got hurt. We are a small inland lake, there is no marked channel. According to my neighbour they should not have been fishing there, and it was their responsibility to start their motor and get out of the way when they saw him coming. I was always under the impression that the boat without power had the right away. Does the width of the area involved, or the fact they were fishing and not simply stalled have any bearing on who is at fault?
  4. I got out there just before the week-end with similar results. One small ski for our efforts, lots of promising looking water.
  5. I'm not getting too excited about the start but its better than losing the first 2. Lets face it they beat 2 borderline playoff teams.
  6. man those are some GIANT fish. (next time tell a little fib though and say you caught it off the dock...its not really a "fish story" until there's a lie or 2 involved!)
  7. good on you for helping...next time ask first if they plan on releasing the fish! If its "no" just take off :whistling: Just kidding of course (...or am I )
  8. holy smokes where are you fishing (and how often)! I wanted to get a new musky rod/reel which I did - curado 300 teamed up with an 8 foot compre
  9. Never been in one but the terms "Sun Dolphin" and "Pro" just don't seem to go together for me.
  10. I'm not a huge follower of the game, but it sure looked to me that Ottawa had a lot more talent not dressed than the leafs. If our young "unprovens" can't beat their young unprovens the leafs are even worse than I though they were.
  11. I won't be able to sleep tonight after seeing that first fish...nasty. The other two look ready for winter already, packing on some good pounds. Another great report!
  12. that's a beauty pike for sure! congrats
  13. thanks...was hoping there was a new crazy video, but that's still a good one
  14. because I'm on dial up I can't check out the link. Is it the one where the musky nails "the 11th hour bait chicken carcass?" or is there another video I should check out from a faster computer?
  15. Not sure what it is but I had one of those before. Pretty sure its something you'd pick up at a Giant Tiger or Dollar Store (I keep cheap stuff available for people renting my cottage). The one I had at the cottage caught me a few fish before someone lost it. Actually swam pretty good for a cheap bait. I remember fishing with a couple of my nephews and nobody would use that bait because it had pink polka dots...I put it on and nailed a 20 inch smallie within minutes!
  16. haha that was great
  17. right on! heck of a season and heck of an understanding wife. Great report
  18. haha, you guys would be the first to know if I did! Just planning ahead, thought it would be nice some day.
  19. I'm aware of Advance Taxidermy doing replica mounts. Has anyone had experience with anyone else or are they the only show in town?
  20. a breeding ball of snakes...yuck!
  21. good on you for trying to save it, but not much reason for putting it in the livewell. Just try to revive it at the side of the boat and you won't get in any trouble.
  22. very bizarre. Why not just grab it and run? Can't believe they took the time to swap reels etc. had all my musky lures taken a few years back (well over $1000). Felt absolutely sick about it...then I went shopping
  23. I thought that looked like Terry's handiwork!
  24. Lew I'm very impressed with your computer skills! Our family was actually just in Myrtle Beach, left just before the storm went by. Apparently in that area the storm was still far enough off shore it wasn't too severe. Here's hoping the storm continues to downgrade over the next day so our friends on the east coast are safe.
  25. can I buy your house? nice to be that close to good fishing
