  1. Tough to find anything at Island Lake. I went for a few hours last tuesday and it was rough. Really weedy there which is good, its just tough to find open spots.
  2. Great report and it wasn't a skunk day. Sounds like a good day of fishing to me.
  3. Cooked for my parents tonight. Boiled burbot in garlic butter, walleye in fish crisp with onions and bbq lays battered walleye. We're sooooo full.

Woohoo....going to see The Who Quadrophenia on Tuesday!

  4. Enter me please Dan. It'll be good to see you again. And if I win I'll bring out Andrew. I feel kinda bad because he couldn't make it to the sportsman show.
  5. Haha I sent that pic to a buddy of mine and wrote 'You. Yesh you young man. Buy dis feesh. Eees freesh. You buy now. Very very tasty.' Also, they were probably funnier because I hadn't slept in 40 hours, but when Joey was really getting the bite on that one tip up and was constantly doing wind sprints back and fourth to his truck I was chuckling to myself 'Canadian Marathon.' Same with 'There is something wrong with this walleye.' (the one frozen solid.) Laughed about that a few times on the way home too.
  6. Thanks once again to Rodcaster and Joey for treating my like family. You guys are the best and getting to hang out is worth the trip as much as the fishing. To all the other guys, it was a pleasure to meet you all. The guys from Barrie, I wish you could have stuck around the rest of the day. Right before noon and right after 5pm the fishing was on fire. I'd like to say that this was the highlight of my weekend but in truth this has been the highlight of my winter so far. Good friends, good weather and good fishing. I'll give up sleep and drive 4 hours any day of the week for that combo. As an asside, in the last photo its making me think that hoodie purchased at the sportsman show may not have been the wisest of investments. I look like I'm in a Bazzahar trying to sell the fish to tourists.
  7. LeBaron has a good deal on last years Shimano reels. Saharas for $61. Symemtres for $69 of all sizes. Best deal of the show IMO. Also found some St. Croix rods for between $90-100. Other then that you get the regular. Not that much ice fishing stuff which is disapointing based on the time of the year.
  8. Wow. Man I gotta get out to K bay. The lakers everyone is icing this year is just phenominal.
  9. Drove to work tonight, got there, lights are off, doors are locked. The moral of this story, never be responsible.

Nice! Hopefully that translates into a few extra hours of sleep before your drive north

  10. Debating if I should go to work or not. All season tires but our road still isn't plowed yet. I do like money but I also like my life, and going into the bar for what could be 2 customers isn't worth it.
  11. Time to clean my driveway again, then my grandmas again, then go to work. ugh......
  12. Man, great catches. Those Lakers are HUUUGE!
  13. I heard a technique this year that has yet to work for me but it seemed like fun. I took a gold/silver williams warbbler, removed the treble and tied that on to the tip up main line, then added 14' of 8 pound mono to the hook with the shiner. Apparently the spoon is supposed to attract the fish without getting in the way like people do when Trolling for Trout and Salmon over the summer. Like I said though, no fish on the tip up for me.
  14. Look at the size of the belly on that! What a bucketlist fish. Also that ice fishing rod you were using looks awesome, where did you get it from?
  15. A whitey in 14 fow? Man you just tell the fish to get up on the ice and they listen to you don't they? Great job. Love the car fishing.
  16. First ever herring today and my grandfather iced a monster perch. This is a good sign.

  17. Leave only footprints and take only photographs....... and your limit.
  18. Everything looks nice and clean, well organized and the prices are really really good. Guess what I'll be doing when my tax return comes in?
  19. This is strange, I think I might ice fish with the oposite hand that I regularly fish with.

Haha something like that. I'm going to try it with perch first just to see if its legit or if I just don't like jigging with my right hand.

Do the pencil hold man, you'll never go back

I also second Sinclair, give yourself a stranger just for the sake of it

I do the pencil hold, thats what makes me think of changing my mind. Haha and what you and sinclair are mentioning has nothing to do with fishing.

  20. Good company and you didn't get skunked. Sounds like a good day to me.
  21. Yep, that call against Kadri was terrible. And surprise surprise that goal would have tied the game up. Just rediculous.
  22. Sorry the bite wasn't on. But even just getting out is always nice. What hut did you get chris?
  23. I'm hoping to get out sometime tomorrow for a bit. I'll update then ice if I end up going.
  24. The perch is ALWAYS good in Cooks bay. lol. Was out yesterday with friends. Could see clear in about 16-17 FOW. I kept trying to draw the perch off the bottom so I could see them hit.
