My trailer axle has an EZ lube system. The grease nipple is on the end of the spindle, and sends grease to the inside bearing first, then to the outside, then out the relief hole. I havent added grease in years. I check them in the fall, and they're always good. If grease cant get out, water cant get in. Its simple. S.

Just repack the bearings, and get normal caps. The bearing buddies are just a gimmick IMO. If the grease can't get out, there is no need to be adding any....right? And, if grease can't get out, water can't get in, correct? So why does everyone have bearing buddies and stuff them with grease every trip??........because they don't know any better, that's why. That's my take on bearing buddies. NO need for them whatsoever. S.

Might see you out there. Where abouts are you staying? Walleye fishing has been decent so far. A few over slots, good numbers of keepers, and lots of under slots too. I'll be fishing there again this weekend when I can, but I live nearby, so will pick my times according to weather. S.

That's cool! I got two eyes on a worm harness one time, but one of them was only about 10" long.....the second one must have tried to get the little guy, and got hooked on the back hook. It was a nice one....landed them both. Pretty cool! S.

I dont use fluoro for anything except musky/pike leaders. I just cant justify the price. Berkely Trilene XT or XL for all my leaders, and regular power pro braid. Jigging I use 8lb XT, casting raps 10lb, maybe 12lb if thats what I have rigged. At night I use a snap to my braid and thats it for raps.... Keep it simple. Simple still works, believe me. S.

Get an enclosed trailer. A flat trailer with a ramp leaves your machines out in the elements. Even with covers on, they still get covered in crap off the road. That stuff kills your machines. Enclosed trailer also doubles as off season dry storage for them. They cost more, but protect your investment. I like galvanized myself, but lots of buddies have the aluminum sled trailers and seem to like them. We have a 6x12 aluminum landscape trailer at work that has had issues with welds cracking. I dont trust the trailer myself. Feel like im just waiting for the next thing to break on it while im going down the hwy. Aluminum does corrode with road salt too. A good galvanized enclosed trailer is what I would be looking for. S.

Ive also had good luck on tarnished spoons. Ive had days where a tarnished spoon is the only one they will bite. Ive even taken a lighter to spoons to give them a tarnished look with success. S.

I have a lowrance, and bird portables for the ice, and I use the lowrance every time. Mine are not top quality, and older units (cant think of models atm) but equivilant in power and pixels, and the lowrance is just much cleaner, and has a lot more features so I can really dial it in. I have an elite 5 DSI on the boat that is mostly used for GPS, no complaints. I also have an old lowrance X96 that still works like a charm. I have it set up as a portable, for use on a boat. Nothing fancy, greyscale, but works really good at marking fish, and shows me thhe thermocline on back lake lakers. Honestly, you dont really need anything too fancy to mark fish, and tell you the depth. Most graphs are primarily used to show depth, and they ALL do that perfectly. It really depends what you want it to do, what kind of fishing you intend to do with it, and whether or not you want GPS/trolling motor capabilities. 99% of the time, mine is being used to show me the depth/structure. It keeps me on a weededge, or drop off etc....any simple unit will do that. The GPS is amazing, and the bigger the screen the better if thats what your after. The 5 series lowrance is ok, but I find myself zooming around the screen a lot. Electronics have come so far in the last 10 yrs, you really cant go wrong. Set your budget, and go play with different brands until you find what you like. S.

I catch tons of minnows in small creeks. A handful of dogfood, and set the trap in a narrow spot. I usually look for darkk soft bottom, with slower moving water. No prob to catch minnows. S.
