Mine is rated for 6, 1250lbs with 40hp. Mo issues whatsoever with 3 ppl and gear. Even 4 is no problem, just a bit longer to get on top and runs a couple mph slower. S.

Id disappear quick! -
I have a buddy selling a nearly new lund alaskan with a 60 merc tiller for $22,000 if your interested. Its a sweet boat, and hardly used. I think its a 2014, but might be a 2013 bought new in 2014. Save you a few bucks on a nearly brand new rig.

I think '89-91 are all yamaha. Mine is a 91. Bulletproof. S.

I also have a mariner, but its a yamaha with a mariner cowling. Any parts I need I get from a yamaha dealer. Merc guys won't touch it. S.

They have a loooong way to go to overtake yamaha. Don't forget yammies have been top of the market for 30 years anyways. I know in nfld, you don't see any mercs on boats. Mostly Yamahas. Same thing in cuba/mexico etc....a lot of yamaha outboards. S.

Kudos to the hip. As much as i love them there is no freakin way i was going to pay that kind of money to see them. I have seen them 9 times, and i bet the price of all 9 of those shows added together is less than it would cost me to get scalpers for this one. Screw that!!! Im glad they cancelled and i hope CBC does the right thing!

Well they might have made 2 good ones lol.... Just spend some time around an ocean and see how many of the black engines you see. Almost all yamahas. S.
-
Crestliners are good, and pay for the yammy. The black anchors suck. S.

I thought you had mariners?

Yes, this. A wooden shed, can be made into a house.....just sayin. S.

Sono tubes are meant for vertical bearing. That means they are designed to be put in plumb, and carry weight straight down. For lateral strenth, which is what a post is, you don't want to use a sono tube. Same thing as a fence, no sono tubes. A sono tube will carry a lot of weight, but a post in a sono tube can easily be rocked side to side, and will eventually fall over if its not tied into something solid. For your purpose, no sono tubes, 8" holes (assuming 6x6 posts), and fill with concrete. Dig the holes 4 ft, trust me on this. I've seen 3 ft deep holes push a post out a foot! Done deal. S. -
3 guys, gear, and 8 dozen duck decoys i still get up on plane and run 22-23mph. 3 guys and fishing gear is no problem at all, even in rough water. S.

I have a 16ft starcraft with a 40 horse tiller. It will jump on plane in seconds. Something seems off with your settings on the engine. Check the height for sure, and also check where it sits when trimmed all the way down. It seems like its sitting too high. Trim up=bow up Trim down=bow down S.

Had lots of good times there many years ago. I guess its changed hands because the old owners kinda put a stop to the good times. Great place though. Used to be a good musky lake back then. S.

Anyone know the results of the fishing tournament

At least they get eaten, and they are put and take, but I hear ya. S. -
Yes, this. S.

I'm sure you and I were also talking about him last time we fished together. Too bad, he was a great guy in person. One of the first I met off these boards. RIP S.

Funny about the pike. We stay at a friends cottage at the far east end of the lake and i have only ever caught one pike there. I have never founď any weeds there either, so assume that is why. We have never had to go to the hub of the lake at the west end to fish, but i hear it gets more pressure. S. -

Discredited?? Ok, then.... Its the MNR who has no credit. Fenelon can only do so much. MNR is the one who makes the decisions. If they made a decision based on the work Fenelon has done, things would be much different. BTW, i don't know Dave personally. We have met once or twice, but I wouldn't know him from adam.......I know of the work he has done on the lake though. How much have you done? How many nets have you pulled? How much data do you have? What have you done to help any lakes in the area? Anyways, I will bite my tongue again. CYA! S. -

A thin veil of science? You dont know who Dave is, obviously. I know for a fact he has been involved with more science on sturgeon lake alone than you, and likely anyone here, has. Ive been biting my tongue on this thread so far, but when people talk pure B S it bothers me. S. -

Depends who you talk to I guess. A lot of people struggle from what I hear, but they are in there, you just have to change things up a bit to get them. I love that lake and wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy a place there. I keep an eye on properties for sale there. Great area with a lot of other lakes with good fishing close by too. S. -

Im no techy, but i had no problems with my navionics chip in my lowrance. Im assuming you try to use a mobile app on your ipad and didnt have enough service for it to run? I could see that. Part of the reason i like that area is the spotty cell service. Its nice to have no contact for a dew days. S.
