  1. Spend almost every chance I get down on our dock in the evening this time of year, fishing is good, it’s not far to go and the bugs are pretty much non existent. My dog loves fishing too, ever since he was a pup.

  4. That's priceless. Reminds me of my first dog ,sheperd and black lab cross. He grabbed a rainbow that was about to flop itself off the dock and back into the water, brought it back to the middle of the dock and lied there with it between his front legs.

  8. Thanks folks I greatly appreciate your comments. Like most of you it's not to my taste either but the young crowd eats this stuff up. The market is full of gold & gold black anodized reel seats and of course reels but I've not yet seen a gold ergonomically shaped reel seat for the center pin crowd so I'm playing about hoping to create something unique to the long rod steelhead crowd. And if you thought that seat a little blingy check out these two I made using some 40 year old salmon spoon prism tape I had laying about.

  10. I think in my world earth tones are a better match while fishing. The skill in the process is as usual excellent. Maybe matched up with a Ron Gardner Reel would make it aesthetically balance better. Art

  11. Not my thing, as you know, but hey market to the rappers 🙂. All of your designs are a thing of beauty so finish one and put it on line. I know you don't need the work but I would love to see it finished..

  12. Fished that lake three years ago. Trolling for pickerel didn't really work for us. We headed up to the top end of the lake. Look for the Eagle flying around. It was very attentive to any fish you released and swooped down several times for an easy meal. Jigged for pickerel around there and did very well. Yellow and green jigs with minnows did the trick. The Diving School is very interesting to check out as well. I think the instructors name is Paul. A very nice and informative guy.

  13. Doug, I have the same motor, but in a 2017 version! Does yours have power trim and tilt? It was not available in the 40 HP in 2017, but I see it is on the new ones. The dealer I bought my boat and motor from (Chuck Howell , Howell marine in Chatham) was the one that told me to not use premium fuel. It had something to do with the spark timing and that 87 octane (regular fuel) was all I should ever use. You cannot just disconnect the fuel line and run this motor dry like I would with any other small engine. The fuel pump will make a heck of a racket if you do! I pull the filter bowl on mine every fall and dump out the gas. The good thing is these motors are fuel injected and do not have carbs. In my opinion, they are more tolerant of the ethanol. I would suggest that you run a good stabilizer in your last tank of the season, and then dump any remaining fuel left over from your boat tank into your vehicle tank.

  17. Great looking flies bud. Heres a few of my bass fly ties. First is the gutless frog, next tube clouser minnows, next perch clousers for pike, then the foam plipper,a popper with a lip! Last is the Shuffler . A foam fly from an australian design. Totally weedless and an awsome swiming action! Cheers

  18. Hi Big Cliff: Thanks for the offer but I doubt we will be going back any time soon. We used to stay at Lunge Haven when Karen and Rob owned it but they sold it to some people in Toronto and it went downhill. The last couple of years we rented a cottage on the lake just past the big marina just outside Lunge Haven. There was a little creek beside it and some cabins across from it for rent there. It was nice. We used to fish by the golf course and near a spot where a power cable ran into the lake. Also on the other side of the lake a creek ran under the highway into the lake and we used to have good luck there. Even fished the channel into Lake Scugog. Good luck at Chapleau. Hope you have a nice time!

  19. Id you’ve ever had the pleasure of rebuilding/cleaning a carb you’d be blown away at how bad ethanol sitting in the float chamber can corrode and destroy your carb. I always wondered if it was just hearsay or preventative to a point, and then I learned to take a carb apart on my old Suzuki and I was blown away at the damage done by ethanol
