  2. I just heard it summed up perfectly " it's better to be 6' apart than 6' under. I am taking this very seriously, I have COPD, high blood pressure and I am 74 so considered high risk. I am not ready to cash out yet, I have already paid for my reservation for Myrtle Beach for next winter and I fully intend to use it. I am not finding it hard to self quarantine, I have more than enough food, powdered milk apples, carrots, potatoes....... I could easily stay isolated for a month or more except for medications and I still have a 3 week supply of them. I only have 8 more days of voluntary self quarantine but you can be sure that when that is over I'll still be extremely careful. All of a sudden I don't feel quite so invincible!

  6. With all the uncertainty in the world today, I decided on some self-imposed ice-solation, trying to get another crack at Lake Simcoe before ice-out! The ice was still in good shape 15'-16", even the shoreline although I'm sure that it will deteriorate quickly! My ice-solation day was spent with a friend and his son plus another friend and his two step sons. The weather was excellent, at least until the wind picked up at the end of the day! We caught enough nice fish for a couple of meals and the kids had a great time! Not sure how many more days on frozen lake Simcoe are left, might try to sneak out for another ice-solation day! Be careful out there, watch the shoreline ice!

  8. I was worried, so I picked up a limited amount . Running out already. LOL I agree, and also now we are getting into allergy seasons . I have already felt it when we get those warmer days . Never had them before, but now I know how it feels . Like crap some days . Be aware of your surroundings and have wipes for your hands . I have been shopping for groceries the past 2 days and 2 trips to Cabelas . I keep vigilant . Everything gets a wipe with my towel here that is accompanied by a large spray bottle of MR.Clean. Well not the food, but can goods fore sure, then rinsed off with water and dried with paper towel .

  9. What is the health unit going to do after these people are squealed on and caught? They are not breaking any law; self-isolating is a recommendation; it's not a law is it? It is something I completely agree with; they should self-isolate; but how can that be enforced? Start building concentration camps; like we did to the Canadian born Japanese (who were innocent of any crime) , that were hauled off to, during W.W.2? Lets not go there again. Sorry But I don't want someone calling the health unit on me, because I have a smoker's hack. Dan.

  10. OI, we really realized it last night. It was my granddaughter’s 7th birthday. It’s usually a big affair with the 8 other grandkids and their parents. Last night one of my girls set up a FaceTime conference and we celebrated on iPads and phones. It has to be done.

  14. No, let them stay on the beach, in fact MAKE them stay on the beach and let nature take care of them. They have never had to deal with the consequences of their decisions, when their friends start dropping around them they might take it seriously.

  15. Anywhere really along the Lake Erie shoreline of Haldimand county. I have sent several fisherman here and no one has ever had the evil skunk eye. Launch at Hoover Marina in Nanticoke and work the shoreline starting east of the marina along Peacock Point and work east until your arms get tired from hauling in big Smallies. For Large Mouth Long Point bay as Albert has suggested. Watch the weather and wind reports closely for Lake Erie. This lake can change in a matter of minutes. Ask HTHM about that. We have all been caught at one time or another and it ain't pretty. Windfinder.com and Sailflow.com are my go to sites. If you are boatless there are many spots along the Haldimand shoreline east of Nanticoke you have access to. From shore opening weekend is your best option depending on when the spawn is over, should be early this year with the mild winter which isn't a good thing casting from shore. A good pair of chest waders help immensely and are actually a must from shore. A tip wading, if the water is murky and you can't see your feet stay on shore. It's rocky and you can snap an ankle if you don't know where you are walking. Casting anything from body baits, jerk baits, rattle crank baits blue on chrome and plain old floating Rappala's, black on chrome. For spinners, tried and true spinner baits with Colorado blades, my favorite colours are white, yellow or blue. Soft shell crabs have a blue tinge to them. If all fails, which it shouldn't, the good old Mepps Black Fury, the smaller size the smaller the Bass, as the size goes up the size of the Smallies go up. I caught my personal best ever on a spinnerbait, blue and white tipped with a worm. Best of luck. The harder you fish the luckier you get.

  16. My boat is happy to be out of the driveway and now lives on a lake! Just a 14' Tinny, with custom floors and a 25HP on the back....perfect for my small lake :)
