They do eat eggs of wild birds and the birds them selves if they are lucky enough to catch and have been known to raid chicken coops. Their main diet consists of mice throughout the year. "Chretien's 'at" joke Prime Minister Jean Chretien was meeting with officials in Flin Flon, Manitoba. It was a very hot day and the ceremonies took place outside in a local grandstand. The Mayor was surprised to see that Chretien was wearing a large fox fur hat, despite the heat. After a while the mayor leaned over and spoke up. lew Posted February 5 Report Share Posted February 5 I keep bird feeders on the front lawn in the winter and there's always a few squirrels hanging around it to grab whatever falls on the ground. I just happened to be looking out the window watching the birds a couple years back and saw a fox sneaking up the driveway and when he got 20' from the squirrels he turned on the afterburners and covered the 20' in a couple jumps and grabbed a squirrel from behind and shook him hard and that was it.
