Big Cliff Posted January 25, 2021 Report Posted January 25, 2021 With all this cold weather coming in I was just wondering if we are going to be able to get out for some jumbo perch in the next week or so. Does anyone have any info on ice conditions?
Terry Posted January 25, 2021 Report Posted January 25, 2021 Cooks bay you can in spots. Virginia Beach people are getting out. I have not heard any reports from Beaverton yet and I have not heard if hut rentals have any out yet. 1

LefroyFisherman Posted January 25, 2021 Report Posted January 25, 2021 Up by me just north of 7th line of Innisfil, we just froze over 2-3 days ago. I'm thinking by the weekend I can take a venture out with the spud bar.

AKRISONER Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 Just saw a clip on social media of someone out in 120fow with two inches of ice. 2
LefroyFisherman Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 Quote J's hut rental from Lefroy there made a video and it was posted on Facebook, that he has seen quite a few people walk out with no float suit or safety gear, it's still really sketchy around there. 1-2 inches in random spots. I won't go out on less then 3 ish. This year I think there's a lot of Newbies that are taking a risk because there isn't much else to do. Hopefully no more tragedies this season. 1

AKRISONER Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 He just updated saying it wasn’t safe because he had to move every twenty minutes because he was sinking!

LefroyFisherman Posted January 27, 2021 Report Posted January 27, 2021 This snow is not gonna help at all either, damn insulator. Would have made a fair bit of ice over the next couple days, getting cold. I think I'll still be starting my hockey rink down at the lake this weekend. 1
lovetofish Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 Anyone looked at Innisfil beach park yet?
Terry Posted January 28, 2021 Report Posted January 28, 2021 Yup Tuesday there was a few inches near shore. About 30 steps out about an inch and a half. Spud went through with an easy hit. Today I heard a few guys were out from the ninth line but not very far out. I would think there will be some walking out by Saturday
Terry Posted January 29, 2021 Report Posted January 29, 2021 (edited) Not safe enough for me yet Edited January 29, 2021 by Terry
LefroyFisherman Posted January 29, 2021 Report Posted January 29, 2021 No way I’d go out on 2 lol, man people are risking a lot for a fish. 1
Terry Posted January 29, 2021 Report Posted January 29, 2021 Lots of ice for walking from Monto Reno marina south to gilford In some of places there were machines on the ice but I spudded and found the ice too inconsistent for my bike. And saw some slush fields too 3
LefroyFisherman Posted January 30, 2021 Report Posted January 30, 2021 Got my rink started today and did a flood, I have 3 inches of ice right near shore, I can see a few guys out off the point near the 7th line and a few farther north, can't be on too much ice... sketchy. Maybe another week for me.
kickingfrog Posted January 31, 2021 Report Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) Barrie news tonight. Cars parked on near shore ice went through on Cooks Bay: https://barrie.ctvnews.ca/two-minivans-break-through-ice-on-cook-s-bay-1.5289102 Edited January 31, 2021 by kickingfrog 3
Terry Posted January 31, 2021 Report Posted January 31, 2021 Yeah I was out fishing from there and couldn’t believe they were parking on the ice there I could only get out to 14 ft depth with my side by side
