DRIFTER_016 Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 (edited) Saw my first Leafs pre-season game this evening. It was a pretty decent outing by the buds. The kids are playing well. Edited September 10, 2019 by DRIFTER_016
fish_fishburn Posted October 7, 2016 Report Posted October 7, 2016 I say the Leafs will finish 28th overall this year. Better than last year.
glen Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 Just turned a replay of tor Det preseason game. First play was my least favorite (Gartner) giving the puck away. Hurt my eyes and had to change the channel. He sucks.
Oggie Posted October 9, 2016 Report Posted October 9, 2016 Just can't seem to get into them. I used to die waiting to watch the Leafs and hockey in general. I'm sure I'll fire up once the Jays are done.

tb4me Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 It too bad we dont have room for Prust.. that Griffith kid looks to be promising..
grizzlybri Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 I went to the game against Montreal last sunday, got to see Mathews first preseason game. Looking forward to seeing what the kids can do this year. With no baseball til Friday, hockey will do for tomorrow night.
BassMan11 Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 Heading to the game tonight in Ottawa to watch the boys play. There is much improvement to be made on the D side but we should be exciting upfront. No expectations again this year.... it will be interesting to see what all these young players will be able to do. Go Leafs.

I think Toronto cheered louder when they got first pick than Pittsburgh did when they won the cup! LOL

Largely because management forced it upon him. Expect a turn around year. i see them finishing 9th or 10th they may even squeeze in. (also...no one is going to be worse than the canucks...no one) Looking at how many 1 goal games they lost last year is very very telling of how easily a whole load of losses could easily turn to points. Especially if all it takes is Marner Mathews and Nylander to pop a couple. People are wary of making expectations to high, but i like the idea of these kids under the tutelage of babcock...its not as though they will constantly make the same mistakes over and over...40 games in I think they are going to look like a pretty interesting team. I hope you're not right because that would just suck. Squeezing into the playoffs is the last thing I want to see. Who finished 8th last year? The answer is who gives a crap. There may be people wary of expecting too much but there's way more delusional fans expecting 3 kids (maybe!) to carry the last place team.
tb4me Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 Oh My Mathews with a beauty goal..Way to go Kid.. Mariner is next he is playing like a beast...Ahh crap Sens just tied it up
chris.brock Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 There may be people wary of expecting too much but there's way more delusional fans expecting 3 kids (maybe!) to carry the last place team. 16 minutes into the season (hahaha) but those kids look pretty friggin dangerous with 2 goals
tb4me Posted October 12, 2016 Report Posted October 12, 2016 And another...The kid stick handled his way thru a friggin phone booth and went and scored...Nylander was wide open but this is the Austin Mathews show tonight...
tb4me Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Mathews with 3 goals on 3 shots.. wow just wow
John Bacon Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 (edited) Hat trick in his NHL debut. Woohoo! Edited October 13, 2016 by JohnBacon
Jds63 Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Austin ..... take us to the promised land !!!!!!
tb4me Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 5th player in NHL history to get a hatty in his first game..Not to shabby kiddo....
Jds63 Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 Wow !!!!! .... Way to go Austin !!! Goal #4
tb4me Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 1st player in NHL history to get 4 goals in his first game...FYI hes a Leaf....YEAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
chris.brock Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 to be honest, I don't think AM can sustain the 4 to 5 goals per game pace, realistically I see him finishing the season with a mere 200 goals
Jds63 Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 I agree Chris .. lol I know Ottawa's crappy defensive coverage and rusty goaltending are helping . But as a disgruntled Leaf fan he is a huge bright light for the organization , just hope he can stay healthy all season and some other Leafs can score eventually .
tb4me Posted October 13, 2016 Report Posted October 13, 2016 funny Stat here....Austin has already passed 483 players on the Maple Leafs all time single season rookie goal scoring list.
