sneak_e_pete Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Spent the week of May 16-23 at Totem Point Lodge. Weather was crap, but I got over 100 walleye for the week! Biggest being 27 1/2"....a new PB. This is my 3rd year at Totem Point and my knowledge of the area is paying off. I am not affiliated with them whatsoever...just a guest, but if you want to visit Wolseley Bay....check out Totem Point. Customer service BEYOND amazing.
woodenboater Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Wow, you had a stellar week dude ! Sounds like you've managed to dial in the water and hopefully avoided all the prop hazards as well lol. Totem is one of my favourite places to go. Cell service is sketchy and the view down Wolseley Bay is beautiful, esp during a raging thunderstorm ! Is Mark still working the dock and boats ?
Dan668 Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Awesome, i love the area. Although i havent had to much success, i try to visit once a year. Have yet to try totem though, ill keep it in mind for next visit
Freshtrax Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Love the French.....I mean no fish in the French.
sneak_e_pete Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 It was very wearher sensitive. On the opener I got 33, next day 20, but on Monday afternoon a cold front moved in. The next couple days was 3-4 fish until it stabilized. It actually snowed on the Friday! Once they adjusted, they bit again.
Beavertail Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Sounds like a great opener! I kinda like the French too, just a bit.
NAW Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Sorry Pete, I don't believe you because there is no fish porn attached to this "report"...
bigcreekdad Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 The original poster is either delusional or just a trickster. It is a known fact that the walleye fishing on the French, especially the Wolesey Bay area is horrible. Walleye are damn near extinct there. Perhaps the OP is confusing walleye with carp or sheepshead.
sneak_e_pete Posted May 28, 2015 Author Report Posted May 28, 2015 I have been on this board for years. I dont lie about my catches. Never said I was fishing Wolseley...just that I stayed there. The fish are there....its finding them.
sneak_e_pete Posted May 28, 2015 Author Report Posted May 28, 2015 Not sure if its a joke or real, but I dont appreciate being called out on my trip. I had great success because I worked hard. I know what a walleye is, so if nothing positive to say....piss off
manitoubass2 Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Post some pics!!!! Great trip by the sounds of it!!!!

chris.brock Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 I love the French. Sounds like you kicked butt. Like Nick said, pictures make us happy.
bigcreekdad Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Good God!! I was making fun. Your report did not surprise me in the least....I've seen much improved walleye there over the last several years. I'm heading up tomorrow and I'd be happy to have half your success. What the heck is wrong with people these days?
Beavertail Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Good God!! I was making fun. I think sometimes humour and sarcasm are lost through texting, happens a lot on here.
lew Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 (edited) I think sometimes humour and sarcasm are lost through texting, happens a lot on here. Unfortunately your 100% correct. I read bigcreekdad's comment and to me it came across as nothing more than a joke, infact pretty funny I thought, but as you say the written word far too often comes across completely different than what was intended. Sad but true. Edited May 28, 2015 by lew
adempsey Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 I always enjoyed my trips to the French River. The times I've gone we stayed in Wolseley Bay at Wolseley Bay Lodge and Bryer Lodge, which were decent. Always wondered about Totem Point, maybe next trip. Good to see you did well there! Our trips have always been in the fall and the fishing was always a bit of a challenge for us. Beautiful place though, especially considering it's location.
sneak_e_pete Posted May 28, 2015 Author Report Posted May 28, 2015 I apologize for that. Read it in a way it wasnt intended.....guess I was a little cranky lol. Sorry.
Tom McCutcheon Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia....Eat your Snickers bar, you're not yourself" LOL Pete.
jimmer Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 LMAO. Great to hear you did well there. I used to go to the French and stopped going when the walleye seemed to tail off. The bite depends on so many factors there. Mayflies, water level and cold fronts.
bigcreekdad Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Pete....no offense taken. I get quite cranky myself at times. I'll write a report when I return.
esoxansteel Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 My sense of humour or lack there of was the same as Sneak e Petes, so don't feel bad Sneak I read it the same way you did, but I have a right to be less then amused ive battled 2 1/2 foot to 3 foot waves all week, and am a little beaten up trying to achieve and maintain boat control to catch some eye balls. Even pulled an all nighter to try and avoid the big winds, but that didn't work either, 17 foot boat moved 3 feet sideways when I came off the mouth of the Indian River, with the wind gust
bigcreekdad Posted May 29, 2015 Report Posted May 29, 2015 Liverlease.....don't you know there haven't been any walleye in those waters in years? Why not try the French? But, you need to get there before mid june as it dries up annually after that until the next years snow melt.
