craigdritchie Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 (edited) Nice fish, so there's really no need to hold it a mile out and use such a wide angle lens that it distorts the image. Why do people insist on doing that? Edited October 14, 2011 by Craig_Ritchie
GBW Posted October 14, 2011 Author Report Posted October 14, 2011 there's really no need to hold it a mile out maybe the two belly's combined he had to? Sorry Dave, I had to...
craigdritchie Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Ha! Maybe that's the reason. I dunno, you see so many pictures where people hold the fish way out in front to try and make it look bigger. Makes me wonder why they have to do that. Is it not big enough? And do they really think they're fooling anyone? Too bad, because Dave's pike really does look like a nice fish. I wish I could see what it really looked like. I've always preferred more natural pictures. Both the fish and the angler look better. Just my humble two cents'.
Roy Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 That smile says it all.....right now it's saying HERNIA!
BillM Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 The joys of a Canon 10-22mm UWA :laugh1: Hey, my dad caught one even bigger!!! I think it was close to 7ft long :)

If you catch a monster fish and accidentely hold it too close to your body you can actually make your 6 foot long, 50 pound fish appear to be small Edited October 14, 2011 by lew
Remastered Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Awesome fishies. But how about some measurements since he's holding it so close
ccmtcanada Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 It can work in reverse though too Craig. If you catch a monster fish and accidentely hold it too close to your body you can actually make your 6 foot long, 50 pound fish appear to be small THAT made me laugh Lew!!!

Harrison Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 (edited) Hope I am not alone, but I ducked twice reading this thread. I think it is a cool shot. Lew... beautie! ha. Edited October 14, 2011 by Harrison
Rich Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Ya, I always hate it when people make their pictures look different and interesting. my mom hates me. Why can't we see the exact same, full length horizontal pike shot every single time, from every person?! What a fish Dave.
manitoubass2 Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Beauty fish! I like the picture, its not boring. Judging by the smile this is a pb pike
Rich Clemens Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 I'd say a 'Big un' is an understatement to say the least. That guy is HUGE
craigdritchie Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 It can work in reverse though too Craig. If you catch a monster fish and accidentely hold it too close to your body you can actually make your 6 foot long, 50 pound fish appear to be small Love that photo, Lew. And you're right, I can clearly see the distortion. Bummer. A picture doesn't have to be boring just because the guy isn't straining to hold the fish out farther. If it's a big fish, it will speak for itself:

Roy Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 I heard that was caught in Long Point Bay 2 months ago It sure was Dan. On 8lb mono. Can you believe that? The dude was apparently targeting walleyes.
