Billy - Curtiss Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Hey, if anyone plays an instrument, bring it along! I'll be bringing my mandolin. Possibly a guitar as well if there's enough room in the van. With any luck, we can get a veritable hootenanny going!

Billy - Curtiss Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I don't know the area all that well, but generally, up around those parts, you can easily find people that sell firewood at a decent price right out of their yard. It might just take a wee bit of meandering down some ol' dirt roads to find it!
Joey Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Kevin sells firewood in the campsite! Joey
Wild Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 I would/could bring a load of firewood with me, but don't want to run the risk of bringing an invasive insectpest with me like the Pine Borer Beetle that we have down here.... the Lakair camp wouldn't be too pretty of a place in a couple of years if they ever gained a foothold.I wonder how much firewood Roger (BPSBASSMAN) will have at Memquisit Lodge? Movement of infested wood now carries a big fine especially in controlled and restricted areas, the emerald ash borer & Asian long horn beetle have locked down movement of wood in the restricted zones which will widen to all of S Ontario soon. So everyone do yourself a favor and buy locally. Otherwise I could have given you a load of birch cherry oak hickory & maple from an unrestricted area.

Billy - Curtiss Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Well I was down in Baton Rouge this week helpin' Lester with some stuff this week, and they were cuttin' up and haulin' all this beautiful Oak firewood that hurricane Gustov knocked over off to the landfills just to get rid of it!!! ... how big of a campfire do you think we could have with that stuff!!! Big enough to roast some rather sizable marshmallows!

Spiel Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 ....Glad to have you along Hooked. Looks like there'll be a lot of new faces for our first annual fall gathering.
Billy - Curtiss Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Does anyone familiar with the area know how close the nearest bank or bank machine is?
lew Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 (edited) Bill, there's a small town about 10 miles south of camp on hwy 64 and you should find a bank machine there without any problem. Edited September 13, 2008 by lew
