Hi all. I've not posted on here for several years. Does anybody have any insight on Fox Lake in the Huntsville area re : quality of fishing and species predominance? I'm looking at renting a cabin for a week in September and a Google search produced scant results. Any insight would be appreciated. Cheers!

A buddy of mine and I are planning on taking his boat to Lake Katchewanooka later this week. Last night I heard that the algae blooms are currently quite bad and that most weed growth is coated in it. Can anyone confirm this and if so, is it so bad as to be virtually unfishable? Is this permeating the entire Trent system?

Thanks for the tips folks.

Hey folks. I'm renting a cabin on Paint Lake with a few friends in a couple of weeks for a few days and I can't find a whole lot of information on this particular lake via the oracle. Can anybody fill me in on what species of fish this body of water holds? I've heard bass and pike. Are there any lake trout present? Thanks in advance.

Aurora trout regulations...

Thanks for that link. That is unfortunate. It would suck to see over 50 years worth of effort to preserve their uniqueness all for naught. -
Aurora trout regulations...
Billy - Curtiss replied to Billy - Curtiss's topic in General Discussion
http://www.sararegistry.gc.ca/default.asp?lang=En&n=C0F414D2-1 "Qadri (1968) observed differences between aurora trout and brook trout in skeletal structure; in particular, the number of trunk vertebrate, the number of ribs with strongly bifid heads, the number of single neural spines and the total number of epineurals. There are also some morphometric differences, including the length of the maxillary.' Are these not genetic differences? -
Does anybody know if the one fish per day limit applies in aggregate? If there are two anglers fishing for Auroras and one is caught, does the 'stop fishing for the day' mean both anglers must stop or can the other angler who has yet to catch one continue targeting them on that same day until a second is caught?

I have just purchased some 60 lb Seaguar, barrel swivels, and duo lock snaps and I am going to attempt making fluorocarbon leaders for the first time ever. Searching the internet, I cannot seem to find much in the way of tips. I'm thinking of making them a foot long a piece and I'm not clear on what the best knot would be to use. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

A highlight for me was talking with Dale Black from Gamma who taught myself and a friend how to make the Crazy Alberto knot and his enthusiasm was a real treat. All criticism aside, I still had a good time and I feel like I got my $19.00 worth.

I just picked up one of these bad boys at the Toronto Sportsmen's Show yesterday. I'm sitting here about to set it up and the arbor has what appears to be a clear sheath and I cannot tell if I should take this off or just put the line on top of that. Any help that anybody could provide me with on this would be greatly appreciated.

How many BB shot do you typically use below the slip float for this presentation? And how close down to the hook should I be going? I'm planning on some fall river action in the weeks ahead and I will be trying roe sacks, Berkeley Power grub, and trout jigs. I want to make sure I'm getting down far enough but I also don't want to overdo it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Wacky rig vs weightless Texas rig…..
Billy - Curtiss replied to Billy - Curtiss's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all of the excellent tips folks. Much appreciated! -
I have always used a weightless Texas rig set up when fishing for bass. I plan on switching it up tomorrow. What are the merits of this technique compared to the other? Should I anticipate losing a greater amount of baits? Any insight would be grand!

When you look at what Patrick Roy has done this year with the Colorado Avalanche, you wonder what a different coach could do with the current Leafs roster. I think it's time to show Carlyle the door. The guy was a defence man and a decent one at that. How it is that he can't get the Leafs playing a tighter game defensively is beyond me. Bring on Doug Gilmour as head coach. This collapse definitely is worse than game 7 against the Bruins. I never expected them to make it that far. Two weeks or so ago, I thought the Leafs would easily make the cut.

Lakair in July with fish, friends, laughter and wildlife
Billy - Curtiss replied to Joey's topic in General Discussion
Joey, this sounds like a really great time! I'd love to get back up to Lakair again. Your photos are simply stunning. What kind of camera setup are you using? Or is that highly guarded, top-secret information?! -
I think I'll be heading up to the Collingwood area next weekend and would like to hit it. I've never fished this river before. Anybody know what water levels and clarity are like generally at present? I'm not sure what to expect species wise but I'll have access to a canoe hopefully so getting around to loads of different spots shouldn't be difficult. Any insight would be massively appreciated!

Salmon fishing in the rain?

We landed 20 in total last night. I've never experienced a triple hook up before. So exhilarating! We caught a bunch of little ones as well and they are really quite beautiful. -

Salmon fishing in the rain?
Billy - Curtiss replied to Billy - Curtiss's topic in General Discussion
As it turns out, we were into salmon the whole time! Rain dance! -
Heading out of Ashbridge's today at 4:00 PM with my brother for some more chinook action. I have no idea how rain will affect the bite with these fish. Anybody?
